"Ride Big Boo's Merry-Go-Round" is the second mission of Big Boo's Haunt in Super Mario 64 and Super Mario 64 DS. The objective is to defeat the Boos in the merry-go-round room underneath the haunted house.

Layout[edit]

To reach the merry-go-round from the start of the level, the player has to get to the basement, either through the shack outside, or by falling from the ground floor. In the former case, the player should ride elevator that takes the player down to a large water-filled hallway. Going down the hall and through the door leads to another hallway, and at the end of this hall is the door to the merry-go-round. After the player enters the merry-go-round through one of the doors on either side of it, Boos in pairs begin coming out of one of the portraits on the wall. The player has to defeat these Boos on a spinning platform while avoiding the flamethrower. Once all the Boos are defeated, a Big Boo appears. After the player attacks the Big Boo three times, he drops the Power Star in defeat and the merry-go-round stops spinning.

Notes[edit]

  • When the Power Star for this mission appears in the merry-go-round after the Big Boo is defeated, the merry-go-round music ends and the standard mansion theme plays.
    • However, in Super Mario 64 DS, the music still plays, even after the merry-go-round stops spinning.
