Talk:Peach's Castle

From the Super Mario Wiki, the Mario encyclopedia

Move Please[edit]

I believe this page should be moved to "Mushroom Castle," because Super Paper Mario makes it clear that that is the name. Princess Peach's Castle is simply saying that the castle belongs to Peach. Why else would we label "Mario's House" as "Mario's Pad?" Any objections? Klaus Kratchet

Sounds Good to me.... - Ultimatetoad

No leave. This is the more common name.Nintendofan146 20:28, 13 May 2008 (EDT)

Let's see... so if I have this right, it's been called Princess Peach's Castle in Super Mario 64 and Paper Mario. It's been called Mushroom Castle in Super Mario RPG and Super Paper Mario. I'm going to check out Super Princess Peach, but currently it's pretty much either/or. Stumpers! 23:42, 13 May 2008 (EDT)

I'd go with the current name. YLYLsig.jpg Peach's Castle is the most recent name, so we should move it to that. Main Picture[edit]

Is it just me, or is it against the importance policy to have a Super Smash Bros. picture as the main picture when there's other ones available? I mean, I'm kinda biased against the SSB series, so maybe that's why I'm saying this... Ruby Star TTYD.png CrystalYoshi Yoshi Egg Sprite.png 17:36, 23 May 2008 (EDT)

I was meaning to get to that. Since, per a proposal, we now have separate articles for all Smash Bros. courses, that picture is no longer applicable to this article, regardless of one's opinion of the series. I'd suggest replacing it with a picture from Super Mario Galaxy. Stumpers! 12:37, 24 May 2008 (EDT)
How about this? [1] Stumpers! 12:41, 24 May 2008 (EDT)
I don't know, in that one you can't see the castle itself very clearly, and plus there's a lot of distracting stuff around it. Is there anywhere where a picture of it from Super Mario 64 (DS) might be found? Ruby Star TTYD.png CrystalYoshi Yoshi Egg Sprite.png 11:08, 7 June 2008 (EDT):::
Well, there is one from Super Mario 64. I'll replace the main picture with it. If anyone disagrees, they an change it. Ruby Star TTYD.png CrystalYoshi Yoshi Egg Sprite.png 10:42, 1 September 2008 (EDT)

Comic and Television Info[edit]

I'm trying to figure out all the times the castle has appeared. We'll have to go through the Nintendo Comics System with a fine tooth comb, that's a given, but what about the rest? I remember that it appeared in Super Mario Adventures and "Tag Team Trouble." I think it also appeared in, "Recycled Koopa," but I'm not sure how the castle looked from the outside on that show, so someone else would need to confirm that. Anyway, if anyone else remembers where it appeared, let me know! Stumpers! 19:53, 16 November 2008 (EST)

Just caught the a line where it said the castle's garden was the princess's, so that means it did appear in that episode, and with a very good picture, too! Stumpers! 19:56, 16 November 2008 (EST)

The Main image and the Super Mario 64 section image; Where are they from? For the Main Image, the sky never looks pink in Super Mario 64, and the second pic looks edited. The sun is shining from the wrong angle(shadows are where they aren't suppose to be), and the trees are not the trees in the original game. --Garlic Man (talk)

The second image has been taken care of. As for the first, we'll need to find a replacement first. Hello, I'm Time Turner.
In Mario Kart 64, when the trophy is given out, the sky is pink. Maybe this image is from Mario Kart 64? Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 15:19, 8 April 2010 (EDT)

Mario Golf[edit]

We need some information about its appearance in the N64 game Mario Golf. We know it's one of the two Mini-Golf courses besides Luigi's Garden. --PrincessDaisyFanatic3883 18:00, January 29th, 2011 (UTC)

Split Peach's Castle and Peach's Castle Garden[edit]

Settledproposal.svg This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit any of the sections in the proposal. If you wish to discuss the article, do so in a new header below the proposal.

split 9-0

Back-to-back TTP's, I know, right?

Now, just take a look at the article and scroll down the Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story. Now tell me that it isn't the biggest section of the page of the entire article.

My point is, Much of that - if not half - is dealing with the exterior of the Peach's Castle, known as Peach's Castle Gardens. It is stated in the game, in the guidebook, as well as among other articles on this wiki. There is more than enough informatin to split, as well as a boss that was fought there!

It seems only fit that if they are separate of each other, they should not be together in the first place. Even if this fails, there should be a sub-header about the garden within that section.

Mario Sports Mix castle[edit]

... is NOT Peach's Castle. First, you see Peach's Castle in the game, but it is in the background of Peach's court, and looks the same as usual. The castle you see in the Mushroom Cup is definitely not Peach's Castle - I could try and say it's based on its Super Mario RPG design, but that's a major stretch anyway. I propose we get rid of the part referring to it as Peach's Castle. On another note, shouldn't we add a pic of Peach's Castle for every main series game that has it ? New Super Mario Bros. and its direct sequel for instance. Or does the page's looks matter more ? Koopalmier 19:45, 12 July 2012 (EDT)

Shouldn't this article be called "Princess Peach's Palace"? After all, Peach lives in a palace, not a castle. There is a ballroom and luxurious bedrooms inside.

And I'm curious about the castle in Mario Sports Mix. What is it? Should it have it's own article?--Alicatgirl (talk) 23:42, 17 March 2013 (EDT)

Princess Peach's Castle should remain as "Princess Peach's Castle" because it is officially stated multiple times it is a castle. The castle in Mario Sports Mix is Peach's castle as well because it is also officially stated to be a castle. It also has it is own article here. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 23:50, 17 March 2013 (EDT)
According to a previous comment, the castle you see in Mushroom Cup may not be Peach's Castle, but I don't think it's major enough to have its own article. Mario Green.pngKaBoom! 23:53, 17 March 2013 (EDT)

I still say it should be renamed. The palace does not have battlements or ramparts like a castle. And I wouldn't call the body of water a "moat". --Alicatgirl (talk) 13:13, 18 March 2013 (EDT)

I'm not sure if this is a good idea or not, but shouldn't the trivia mention ho the music is nearly always the same, nearly,RPG Gamer. I HAVE RPG!! (talk) 11:44, 26 March 2013 (EDT)

I don't think it is necessary to mention this in the article's Trivia section, really. Trivia sections should be reserved for really interesting facts or points that can't fit in the main body of the article, and this factoid about the music isn't really worthy to mention. --- ThePremiumYoshi (talk)

Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis Split[edit]

Strangely, world contents of the setting in Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis are merged with the general location of Peach's Castle. That seems wrong to me. Should that be made into its own article, just like Spooky Attic and Jungle Hijinks? My guess is yes. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 21:46, 26 August 2016 (EDT)

That seems like a better idea seeing as I was trying to look up the world during my project and got redirected so splitting would be the best idea. Fawful Battle 2nd time.png The RPG Gamer (talk) (edits) Jojora MnL.png 21:49, 26 August 2016 (EDT)

Peach's Castle in Super Mario Run's Kingdom Builder Mode[edit]

If anyone had bothered to play Super Mario Run's Kingdom Builder Mode, I think Princess Peach's Castle appears when either you save her or raise the level progression of your Kingdom Builder Mode. --LTIan (talk) 21:13, 29 January 2017 (EST)

About SM64 Castle[edit]

Nintendo of Korea's official SM64DS guide[2] considers Princess Secret Slide and Bowser in the Dark World are in the 2nd floor of the castle. I think we need to change some sections'(first floor, second floor, third floor) name. Geoteve (talk) 04:33, 8 August 2017 (EDT)

The names of these sections are in accordance with the SM64 Instruction Booklet (page 16). The floor where these levels are accessed is referred to as Balcony.
--PhGuy12 (talk) 12:32, 8 August 2017 (EDT)
The Nintendo Power player's guide refers to the first floor as the "First Floor and Mezzanine", with the mezzanine having the two rooms above. Just throwing that out there :P Since we are an English wiki, we use what the English sources have if they are available, and they are. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 12:42, 8 August 2017 (EDT)

Your post is incomprehensible. Be clearer about what you're asking. Who is "they", for instance? If you're referring to the castle, then "they" is probably the wrongest pronoun you could have used. PMTTYD Dark Bones.pngSig.png 15:50, 25 November 2017 (EST)

Exact name[edit]

Every mention of the castle that I've seen calls it just "Peach's Castle" without the "Princess" part, so...rename? Toadette icon CTTT.pngArchivistToadettefont.png(T|C) 18:52, April 7, 2019 (EDT)

I'd say yeah, probably, but if I've learned one thing from editing here occasionally, it's that you guys don't seem to care about the opinions of people without accounts. The fact that IP's can't vote on proposals is stupid, and deserves a change in policy. None of the other wikis do it, and it's really incredibly biased. Blocking out other people's opinions for that kind of reason is just plain stupid. Sorry about my mini-rant, it's not really on topic. Yeah, it should be renamed.

I remember the NSMBW manual called it "Peach Castle" without any possessive formatting. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:57, April 8, 2019 (EDT)
Okay, but nearly everywhere else uses the possessive formatting (the Mario & Luigi series, Paper Mario, and Super Mario Odyssey at least), so I may consider starting a proposal on the matter. Toadette icon CTTT.pngArchivistToadettefont.png(T|C) 13:35, April 9, 2019 (EDT)

Rename to just Peach's Castle[edit]

Settledproposal.svg This talk page proposal has already been settled. Please do not edit any of the sections in the proposal. If you wish to discuss the article, do so in a new header below the proposal.

rename 16-0
See comments above. Yes, I'm aware of the fact that this would technically be called "Princess Peach's Castle" since that's Peach's formal name; however, most sources I find in-game or otherwise (Paper Mario, the Mario & Luigi series, the New Super Mario Bros. manual, Super Mario Galaxy, and Super Mario Odyssey, to name a few) call it "Peach's Castle" without the "Princess" part appended to Peach's name. It isn't even appended to the castle's name in the New Super Mario Bros. Wii manual, despite lacking the possessive part of the name that most other mentions have ("Peach Castle"). All in all, I think there's enough overwhelming evidence that "Peach's Castle" is its most common and most recent name, and should be the name of this article.

Additional thing, the "Peach Castle" bit in the manual was said by Peach herself in a letter. Saying "Peach's Castle" in that case would be talking in the third person. Maybe that's the building itself's actual name? :P 🤷‍♀️ Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:49, April 22, 2019 (EDT)

I found "Princess Peach's Castle" nowhere, yet. --SMW2yoshi.gif FanOfYoshi 03:12, April 24, 2019 (EDT)
Both "Peach's Castle" and "Princess Peach's Castle" were used in Partners in Time; the former in dialogue and save albums, and the latter on the top screen while going through a time hole. But still, Peach's Castle is a more recent and far more used name than Princess Peach's Castle, even if Princess Peach's Castle is technically more formal, so I do support the rename. -YFJ (talk · edits) 21:20, April 26, 2019 (EDT)
Ah, so it was an in-game name. --SMW2yoshi.gif FanOfYoshi 03:53, April 30, 2019 (EDT)
The way i can think of to rename without deleting anything, is to merge of the content of this page to the "Peach's Castle" redirect rather than deleting it to make way for move. --SMW2yoshi.gif FanOfYoshi 05:31, May 5, 2019 (EDT)
Current redirect would need to be deleted first, and then the page gets moved. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 10:47, May 5, 2019 (EDT)
It's actually merging the page to the redirect, rather than directly renaming the page. --SMW2yoshi.gif FanOfYoshi 12:53, May 5, 2019 (EDT)
That's a really bad idea, as all the page history here would be lost. There's no reason not to delete the redirect to move the page there. --MK8DX Waluigi Icon.png Too Bad! Waluigi Time! 18:31, May 5, 2019 (EDT)

I found a furigana of its Japanese name from offical site of MLBISBJJ, and the furigana of the kanji 「城」 is 「じょう」 (jou). Should I add this furigana with a change of Japanese reading? Pi'illoper.pngBlhte (Another calste) 08:23, January 16, 2020 (EST)

The furigana has been in use in-game since at least Super Mario Galaxy, so a reference for it isn't really necessary. LinkTheLefty (talk) 13:09, April 19, 2020 (EDT)
