The Shooting Star is Mario's unlockable signature kart in Mario Kart DS. It is a small kart that resembles its namesake. The front is shaped like a yellow star where the emblem is located and features a yellow zigzag behind where the character sits. It features good speed and decent handling and drift. It is also a very light kart, making it easy for it to be knocked around by heavier karts, and its selection of items is rather low. It is tied with the Egg 1 for the lightest kart in the game (not including the driver's weight). However, it features high acceleration, tied with the Standard LG.
