Blast to the Stone Pillar is the fifth mission of Jolly Roger Bay in Super Mario 64 and its fourth mission in Super Mario 64 DS. The mission's goal involves collecting a Power Star on top of a high platform.

Layout[edit]

The Power Star is located on a ledge on the other side of the bay from the player's starting position. Next to the platform is a group of stalagmites that can be grabbed on to, with one of them holding a 1-UP Mushroom at its tip. The lower half of the spires cannot be climbed; if the player slides down the spire while holding on to the upper half, they quickly fall off. The level's cannon, which is unlocked by a Bob-omb Buddy on a low platform to the right of where the player starts, must be used in order to reach the Power Star. The player must launch themselves with the cannon to one of the stalagmites and then jump to the platform. In Super Mario 64 DS, Mario can alternatively use his floating power to get to the platform, while Luigi can backward-somersault from the ship to reach the platform. In international versions of the original Super Mario 64, the Power Star is inside a yellow block, while in the Japanese version (including Super Mario 3D All-Stars) and Super Mario 64 DS, the Power Star is out in the open.
