The Red Fire is Mario's signature kart in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!. It is a default middleweight kart available when the game is started. The Red Fire has average stats all around and is thus ideal for beginners. The kart has a red and blue paint job, reflecting Mario's color scheme, with his trademark letter "M" on the top of the kart and blue tires that say "Mario & Luigi".

The Red Fire is well-balanced with no major flaws. However, when compared to the Waluigi Racer (a kart with identical stats in-game), the Red Fire is thinner, lighter (the Red Fire's weight is tied with the Heart Coach and Barrel Train), and less vulnerable to shells and other items.

Although the stars list its acceleration as three, the Red Fire's acceleration is actually tied alongside the Turbo Birdo, Bullet Blaster, and Parade Kart. It also shares the same top speed as the Waluigi Racer. In terms of off-road, the Red Fire is the worst of all middleweight karts.

The Red Fire's counterpart is the Green Fire, which is Luigi's kart. Both share the same engine sound with the Bullet Blaster.
