Re:Yoshi's Story[edit]

I'm familiar with it - I've had the Nintendo Power guide, and recently got my hands on the Shogakukan one for good measure (I haven't gotten around to adding anything else from it yet, but it'll at least affect the rest of the Shy Guy articles). The Prima guide could have names that the Nintendo Power guide lacks, but from what I can tell, it's from their unlicensed period. I'm not sure what the case for that is since I think they only became authorized by Nintendo shortly afterwards... You might have to ask about using pre-licensing Prima for the wiki. I can definitely help out if it's considered official/useable, though. LinkTheLefty (talk) 09:31, 14 August 2017 (EDT)

Sorry to interject myself in this convo, but you stated the Prima YS guide "It bills itself as official".

Doesn't look like it to me? Same "Unauthorized Game Secret" suffix and ghetto but not copyright-infringing artwork. The Prima Games page does say they bundled together several of their "unauthorized game guides" after becoming licensee, but I'm not really comfortable with passing material from *these* guides as official. --Glowsquid (talk) 09:55, 14 August 2017 (EDT)

I was aware. The guide bundle is licensed, I guess, but that the material originates from an unofficial guide and doesn't appear to have been notably changed or revised when it was rereleased makes me think twice. Maybe I'm way overthinking this, but I feel there should be some disclaimer about the nature of the book and its original status as unlicensed if we're going to insert those yoshi's story names. --Glowsquid (talk) 11:06, 14 August 2017 (EDT)

So the re-released bundle is officially licensed, but the original guide isn't? We might actually have a similar precedent for this: there are a few citations and two images for How to Win at Super Mario Bros., which is the official English translation of Super Mario Brothers Kanzen Koryakubon. Mind, this does predate Nintendo Power, but the Japanese version of the guide is by Tokuma Shoten and not Shogakukan. I could be wrong, but I don't believe Tokuma Shoten were ever an official guidebook licensee -- it's just that Nintendo of America bought the rights for an overseas publication. LinkTheLefty (talk) 21:48, 14 August 2017 (EDT)

Sure, go ahead. I personally think it's fine. LinkTheLefty (talk) 00:00, 22 August 2017 (EDT)
Here's what I gather:
  • Stones refer to Rock Blocks, which come in a breakable blue type and unbreakable beige-ish type.
  • Brown Question Mark Boxes are most likely the floating ? Blocks (called Mystery Blocks or Mystery Boxes in the other guide), which look somewhat similar to the blue Mystery Crates in this game. On that note, the Melon Race is called the "Special Delivery" minigame at one point in the Nintendo Power guide.
  • Bomber Birds sound like Goonies, which can carry bombs.
  • Raindrops are most definitely Do-Drops, with the same taste trait.
  • Bats are ComBats, and the description for them seems about right from what I remember.
  • Eels are Mr. Eels, going by the same generic name that was used on the website.
  • Fish are Cheep Cheeps, which are referred to as such in the Nintendo Power and Shogakukan guides.

What I'm most curious about is if the Prima guide has names for all the different kinds of Shy Guys, since that's unfortunately lacking in Nintendo Power but right there in Shogakukan. LinkTheLefty (talk) 23:50, 23 August 2017 (EDT)

I might be missing a few, but these are the appearances I'm aware of right now:
  • Propeller Shy Guy: 1-2, 1-3, 1-4, 2-2, 2-4, 3-1, 3-2, 3-3, 4-3, 4-4, 5-3, 5-4, 6-1, 6-4
  • Shy Guys on Pogo Sticks: 1-2, 1-3, 4-1, 5-3
  • Stilt Guy: 1-3, 4-1, 5-2, 5-4
  • Snow Guy: 3-3, 3-4
  • Fly Guy: 3-3, 3-4, 5-3
  • Submarine Guy / Sensuikan Heihō: 5-1
  • Bamboo Dancers: 5-3
  • Pirate Guy: 5-4
  • Barbecue Guy / Burner Heihō: 6-4

The White and Black Shy Guys aren't needed, but in case you want to check, the latter are in 3-3, 6-1, 6-2 & 6-3. There are also nameless Shy Guys that start charging from the background and foreground in 1-1, and ones that hide in trees in 1-2 & 5-4. (Also, minor correction, but Melon Race and Special Delivery are separate activities, and the latter starts by breaking something the Nintendo Power guide calls a flower pot.) Just two quick notes[edit]

Thanks for all you do! MLPJToadetteWink.gif ToadettetheAchiever 11:09, 17 August 2017 (EDT)

RE[edit]

Actually, I don't think Spiny is a good contrast. It's fairly obvious that it's way more common for readers to search for the Spiny enemy from the Mario franchise than anything else "Spiny", so that's why it doesn't have the identifier. But in the case of Dictionary, Milk, and Scarf, there's no definite evidence that readers will overwhelmingly search more for the Paper Mario versions of these items than the Mario's Time Machine versions, as all six of these particular items each have only appeared in one game or the other, all are key items, and all are required in some form to beat the respective game.

I have another idea: Why not merge the pairs of articles together, as per the similarities I mentioned? MLPJToadetteWink.gif ToadettetheAchiever 17:35, 17 August 2017 (EDT)

Partners in Time script[edit]

That script is woefully incomplete, it lacks everything from the endgame, including Bowser's "What did you feed me?" line, and also spells "Hydrogush" incorrectly. I remember either E. Gadd or one of the Toads saying "Re-toadified" or some variation thereof in the endgame at one point. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:55, August 17 2017 (CT)

Piranha Bud[edit]

Shouldn't you put a delete template on the page now that the proposal has passed? MLPJToadetteWink.gif ToadettetheAchiever 22:33, 21 August 2017 (EDT)

Bee Proposal[edit]

BBQ Turtle (talk)'s vote reminded me this was still a thing :P I have a question about where the SMG bees will be moved to, as that's not clear in the proposal. Honeybee appears to be the official name, unless there is a more recent name I don't know about. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:01, 23 August 2017 (EDT)

Alright, sounds good. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:03, 23 August 2017 (EDT)

Proposal[edit]

Hi, your third voting pool on you recent proposal is off. Shouldn't it be "Option 3: They're both" or something like that? MLPJToadetteWink.gif ToadettetheAchiever 01:13, 25 August 2017 (EDT) MLPJToadetteWink.gif ToadettetheAchiever 01:13, 25 August 2017 (EDT)

RE: Coin[edit]

Games go back and forth between capitalisations (even ones like Warp Pipe/warp pipe), which I guess explains why it's never consistent on articles. Samus SMM.png Mario JC 22:36, 25 August 2017 (EDT)

SMBSS edits[edit]

Hi. This is MarioXB. No, I don't know how to communicate on here, really. I only discovered the "talk" sections maybe an hour ago.

First of all, all of those edits were done at the same time, and I didn't get any email notification that someone was trying to "talk" to me, so I was not warned at all.

I don't see Mario Jc providing any references either, and I don't know how to provide references. Everything I posted is fact, it can be proven my VHS tapes I recorded myself in 1989 as well as German DVDs provided by pidax-film.de. If you go to that page, you can see episode lists in German. Running them through Google Translate will show them in English. All of the lost episodes, except for the second Tutti Frutti, are on these DVDs, though only in German. So the claim about them not being on ANY DVD is incorrect. The DVDS were only released this year. As far as the Slime Busters not having episode specific bumpers, I'm 99% sure that Mario Jc heard that from me on my SMBSS Restored: Legend of Zelda Fridays channel, which has since been edited to remove that claim. Watch my video on YouTube here,

https://youtu.be/KxLAF41vbIo

for proof of that. Marioxb (talk) 13:56, 26 August 2017 (EDT)

Donkey Kong's uncomfortably-shaped head[edit]

Look at the picture of fake Candy cutting his hair, the hair and the skin are on literally the same plane. We don't require citations for how DK and Eddie use the same model, but slightly retextured, as do K. Rool and Kutlass, Klump and Skurvy, and Kritter and Green Kroc. It's the same situation here. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:39, 26 August 2017 (CT)

RE:Coins[edit]

I get what your proposal is going for, but the task feels so mundane to me that it seems pointless. Warp Pipe and ? Block are also inanimate objects with proper names, so why shouldn't Coins? As the name of the object, I think it should be capitalized. But if used in a general sense, like when including Red Coins or Blue Coins into the mix, then it can be lowercase. It seems like one of those case-by-case things to me. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 23:20, 26 August 2017 (EDT)

Minigame/Mini-game deals with the spelling of the word (to hyphen or not to hyphen) rather than the capitalization, so it feels like a different case to me. And it has actually been inconsistent to the point where I've been confused myself at certain points, so I'm glad there's a clear spelling there.
I just went back over the proposal and I admittedly appear to have misread it. For some dyslexic reason, I thought you were voting to change the standard to "coin" rather than "Coin", and ultimately got confused as to how to vote. I'll remove my vote, but I'm still confused.
Clear this up for me: The standard Yellow Coins would still be called "Coins"? And would we collectively refer to all the coins as "Coins" as well? I suppose that makes sense since they are all (usually) proper names as well. I'm sorry if I'm making this even more confusing, my autism does not make thinking easy. And this wouldn't be the first time I've been confused by something simple I've unwittingly made complex. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 23:42, 26 August 2017 (EDT)
Yeah, I didn't remove the vote yet because I wanted to see if I could make a proper vote in the same edit. And if the proposal is focusing on just the standard Yellow Coins, then I will vote to support :) Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 23:52, 26 August 2017 (EDT)

I'm bored![edit]

Hey man, how are you doing? I'm doing great, especially because I'm not in school right now (Ugh...I HATE school SO MUCH!). Lcrossmk8 (talk) 20:31, 28 August 2017 (EDT)

re:French names[edit]

Pas du tout! --Glowsquid (talk) 22:19, 28 August 2017 (EDT)

Aight, so

  • Ail Vengeur - The primary meaning of "vengeur" means "to avenge" but in more loose (emphasis on "loose") usage it can be used to designate something punitive or unpleasant.
  • "Chichi" can mean "worries", but it's also a semi-popular pets name.
  • "L'homme faucon" This one is puzzling.. I thought this could maybe a pop culture reference buut doing a quote search doesn't bring obvious results. It could also be a translation mistake resulting from the translator not having visual references for that character.
  • Kiriki: no obvious pun or reference.
  • Natacha Duchouine: likely a random and arbitrary name change. "Chouine" means "to whine" but it doesn't fit the character.
  • Surao Man - "[Adjective/Noun] man" is a popular naming convention in french for nicknames or purposely silly names in parodies and the like. There's also a few fake anglicisms constructed that way (ex "tennisman", which doesn't exist in english). There's no deeper meaning behind this one. --Glowsquid (talk) 23:00, 28 August 2017 (EDT)
It's an onomatopoeia for biting/munching. --Glowsquid (talk)

Pufftup[edit]

Hello again! I was leafing through a bunch of tropes for DKCTF on TVTropes when I found this:

"A single type of enemy from the original trilogy (Puftup, the pufferfish from DKC2) returns in Sea Breeze Cove, appearing in Amiss Abyss, Irate Eight, and Shoal Atoll. He's been pretty heavily redesigned, but according to some supplementary material such as the official player's guide, that's really him."

This is the "Bus Came Back" trope of Tropical Freeze. What it says, is it true? Does the Prima book confirm that Puftup from DKC2 is the same as Pufftup from DKC:TF? Can you please check this in the guide? Thank you! -- -- ByeGuy1.png ByeGuy.png ByeGuy2.png

Ok, thank you again. And sorry for confusing the guides.

Idle Chatter[edit]

Hey, Time Turner, how are you doing, bro? I turn 15 on September 4, and I can't wait. Anyway, this music is freaking AWESOME! You have GOT to listen to it! (OK, I do this all the time, but still, I love video-game music SO MUCH! It's so CATCHY!)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KWJvSXAlTas Lcrossmk8 (talk) 21:31, 1 September 2017 (EDT)

SWEET! Man, I am on an absolute high right now, like I always am. It feels so GOOD to be so hyper at times, you know? I freaking LOVE it! It helps me put a smile on other people's faces, and it keeps everyone relaxed and smiling and free of worries, and that's EXACTLY what I aim to do ALL the time, especially here on the wiki! Man, I just can't seem to calm down these days, but that's mostly good, I guess. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 21:38, 1 September 2017 (EDT)

That's true. I'm not gonna forget that. But let's not forget to smile. I was born to smile. But I seem to be surprisingly calm for how hyper I am. It's a good balance. Anyway, I'll just try to help and do things, as usual. And as always, always assume good faith and be respectful to everyone, people! Don't get blocked and repeat your mistakes, am I right, bro?

And by the way, it's this music that will make you smile. Go ahead and give it a shot!

RE:Pillars[edit]

Hello! Oh, pillars? I think I just made that up. As in, I came up with the most convenient name for that obstacle. Now that you brought the name into question, I checked the Wario Land KC Mario comix for any clue on their true name. I browsed rapidly through them, and to no avail... By the way, as far as this video goes, pillars appear in course 19 of Sherbet Land. Perhaps pillars appear in the same timeframe in the comix. -- -- ByeGuy1.png ByeGuy.png ByeGuy2.png

Re: MK8[edit]

I don't know that much about Mario Kart 8, unfortunately. From what I can tell though, they're just flashing Piranha Plants. Niiue (talk) 17:57, 2 September 2017 (EDT)

If I may, the "Raving Piranha Plants" don't act any different from regular Piranha Plants. They just flash a lot of colors. Similar to the Bone Piranha Plant, it appears to just be a pallet swap. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:00, 2 September 2017 (EDT)

Sorry to intrude. I am familiar with MK8, so AMA! -- -- ByeGuy1.png ByeGuy.png ByeGuy2.png

Alex is right. They are just the same. As a matter of fact, I remember being munched down several times by those Raving Pirabbids Piranhas when trying to get the mini-boost on the curve...
I'd suggest simply mentioning in the Piranha Plant article that the Prima guide separates them like that.
Decided to double-check, and yes, the Raving Piranha Plants do bob their heads more than the others. I don't think there's enough info to warrant a full article, however. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:16, 2 September 2017 (EDT)

By the way, is there a special name for those pink Piranha Plants in Sweet Sweet Canyon? (I'd wager they only look pink because of the lighting.) -- -- ByeGuy1.png ByeGuy.png ByeGuy2.png

Every Piranha Plant in the game moves around slightly, but the Raving Piranha Plants appear to bob their heads to the beat of Electrodrome's music. As for the ones in Sweet Sweet Canyon, they most certainly are pink. And yellow. Kinda sherbet-colored, really. They're also bigger. I'm checking the courses with Piranha Plants in them to see if there are any differences between them. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:21, 2 September 2017 (EDT)

Okay, so, anything with a regular Piranha Plant in it acts like a simple Piranha Plant, as well as the Bone Piranha Plant in the Bone-Dry Dunes. Sweet Sweet Canyon's Piranha Plants are Big Piranha Plants and colored in pink and yellow rather than red ("Sherbet Piranha Plant" would be a fitting title here, if Prima doesn't have one). There is also a Big Piranha Plant in Piranha Plant Slide, and the returning Piranha Plants in Royal Raceway act like they did in that game. Electrodrome's Piranha Plants (the point of this discussion) bobs their head in time with the beat of the music and also flash several colors. The Big Piranha Plants in Music Park also bob their heads in time with the music. The Deku Babas in Hyrule Circuit act like they do in Zelda: Skyward Sword, sort of swaying with their tongue sticking out.
There's a lot of differences between them than I initially thought. I always just saw them a Piranha Plants aside from their cosmetic appearances :P Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:32, 2 September 2017 (EDT)

I thought the Sweet ones just were regular ones given a popsicle sheen. Also the Royal Raceway ones cameo in Shy Guy Falls. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:24, 2 September 2017 (CT)

"also don"[edit]

What were you trying to say in your summary for creating Skating Shy Guy? You clearly ran out of characters with your list. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:36, 2 September 2017 (EDT)

RE: Bowser Golem[edit]

The name "Bowser Golem" was actually already written on the Mario Kart 8 article in the "Additional enemies, obstacles, and species" section, which somebody else wrote, so I just figured I would make it a redirect to Bowser's Castle (Wii U). Just so you know, since your proposal passed, you might want to simply undo Chester Alan Arthur's revision rather than start from scratch. (I'm sure you knew that, but why not?) Thanks! MLPJToadetteWink.gif ToadettetheAchiever 23:07, 5 September 2017 (EDT)

You can give me the list of dates and I'll go ahead and semi-protect the appropriate archive pages so you can make the changes. Samus SMM.png Mario JC 22:41, 9 September 2017 (EDT)

It can just be added under Archive 17 without shuffling them around. There are a few archives that don't have exactly 20 proposals anyway. Samus SMM.png Mario JC 02:18, 10 September 2017 (EDT)
Huh. Looks like a few of them weren't even protected in the first place. Anyway, the archives are open for maintenance. Samus SMM.png Mario JC 01:24, 11 September 2017 (EDT)
Great! I'll leave Archive 43 semi-protected in the meantime. Samus SMM.png Mario JC 22:56, 11 September 2017 (EDT)

Final article for MTM[edit]

My warm congratulations and condolences.

'Shroom Spotlight Shokora (talk · edits) 22:09, 10 September 2017 (EDT)

I'm sure it's been such an adventure...

-- ByeGuy1.png ByeGuy.png ByeGuy2.png 15:17, 11 September 2017 (EDT)

That's what I'm talking about! Also, I am 100% sure documenting MTM was a lot more fun than school.
Yeah, I saw several of your notes. What I'm trying to highlight is that research out of passion always feels more compelling (not necessarily fun, but it may as well be) than school. From my perspective. Some may not agree.
It's the end result that matters the most! It may sound a little dramatic for a place like this, but go on and help the world further! Because you did an unparalleled job here that hasn't been left unnoticed. Also... not to be pry, but do you plan on taking on Mario is Missing too? (edit: oops, sorry, I thought that thing about Karl Marx was in the game's context...)
Good luck then. And sorry for the awkward mistake.

Behind Schedule on a Time Machine[edit]

Strange, isn't it? Oh and good job getting that done. But this wasn't bad enough to involve adobe, King Kong, and some mutant Koopaling "Bowser"... Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:57, 11 September 2017 (EDT)

In response[edit]

I feel like having pages for not only the paper, but the SHINY versions would be a bit too much. ~Camwood777 (talk) 19:01, 15 September 2017 (EDT)

In response again[edit]

That's... Honestly a fair point. I feel like those have enough to them, though, that they don't exactly warrant a merge. I think a policy for consistency as to what warrants a merge for similar enemies in RPGs might be in order, but I won't make such a big vote in proposals over it. Feel free to make that yourself, though. ~Camwood777 (talk) 19:06, 15 September 2017 (EDT)

Re: Splits[edit]

Alright. Anything specific in mind? Niiue (talk) 22:46, 15 September 2017 (EDT)

I still think the two Gritty Goombas should be merged, considering all versions of the game treat them as the same enemy despite the color/stat differences. I dunno, it feels like an RPG version of green/red Koopas to me. Niiue (talk) 22:51, 15 September 2017 (EDT)
At that point, the main difference is simply that the game identifies Fighter/Super Flies as different enemies, but doesn't do the same thing with the two Gritty Goomba colorations. If anything, Superstar Saga having named variants of enemies could be considered proof that the Gritty Goombas were specifically not intended to be separate enemies, unlike, say, Troopeas and Elite Troopeas. Niiue (talk) 22:58, 15 September 2017 (EDT)
Eh, I look at stuff on a case-by-case basis. Like, take the two types of Dry Bones or Pestnuts. English is the only language where they share a name, not to mention that the purple versions of both are capable of poisoning the player, unlike the "normal" ones. But if the only real differences are stats/palette, then I figure it's more of a variant than its own thing (again, look at different-colored Koopas or Shy Guys). Niiue (talk) 23:16, 15 September 2017 (EDT)
Hm, not sure how I'd handle that. Consistency would ideally be best, so I'd probably support merging or splitting both pairs. Niiue (talk) 23:38, 15 September 2017 (EDT)
Yeah, I don't really have a preference for splitting or merging, it just depends on the situation. Niiue (talk) 23:58, 15 September 2017 (EDT)
Fair point. Niiue (talk) 00:07, 16 September 2017 (EDT)

RE: Locations in SMO[edit]

Now that you mention it, these kingdoms are vast enough to hold multiple relatively smaller, but still large enough, locations that can easily get their own article. (Although what concerns me are the locations that are too small like the park and the helipad in New Donk City. Maybe the small ones can be kept on the kingdom pages, and the larger ones split into separate articles with {{main}} on the original page.) Anyway, I'll add them back. Samus SMM.png Mario JC 22:42, 16 September 2017 (EDT)

Re: Yume Kōjō[edit]

At this point, I think you are trying to get an answer I don't have, as I've stated before. I still stand by my concerns. One week isn't enough for what you are proposing, which is hasty. The proposal is looking to execute on one popular option, when I think over half of the options apply at once. That's what makes the game itself so complicated. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 16:23, 18 September 2017 (EDT)

I think my concern was one or two weeks isn't enough time. I think I just went too far with length of time needed. I think this is one of those kinds of things "we need to be sure about", more sure than standard proposal times without extensions. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 16:27, 18 September 2017 (EDT)
That's the thing. What if we come across something we didn't consider? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 16:29, 18 September 2017 (EDT)
Not that kind of what-if scenarios. I don't know how familiar people are with the game and it's conversion to be a Mario game, but the information we currently have, how we treat it currently, and what the proposal entails, we could lose something if we don't consider as many aspects as possible before acting on it. Your proposal seemed to come out of the blue and we have one week to decide what we want to do, by acting on one option and excluding the rest. That's why I am expressing concern like this. This isn't as simple as Tetris Attack where sprites and some game features were changed. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 16:45, 18 September 2017 (EDT)
I don't think this conversation will reach a satisfying conclusion. I guess we are just going to have to agree to disagree. I voted the way I did because sometimes the best option is to do nothing, in the face of doubt, which the proposal I am left with some lingering doubts. That way, for sure, nothing is lost. I can't immediately think of anything as you want me to, but for those who can, my vote will support those editors. I'm trying to think into the future, not what is here now. I wish you could see what I see, but I am not very good with words to fully explain myself adequately, trying to help you understand, but I hope I did my best to. I wished this proposal was really {{talk}}. Then there is no time pressure. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 17:43, 18 September 2017 (EDT)
That's not what the phrase means. It means to accept that the disagreement won't be resolved and attempting to change the other person's mind is a lost cause. I've pretty much done that and Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) will have to too, seeing how we are the only two people voting against your proposal. What is the point of having the disagree option if you think that I have to agree with you or you have to agree with me at some point? I can't get you to reconsider the proposal and you can't get me to change my vote to something else. It would be nice if one of those two options were to happen, but neither will happen in this case. Just move on. I laid down my thoughts on the proposal, and that is coverage of the game is very complicated because of how NoA rejected the Japanese SMB2 as a sequel to SMB due to it being too hard and not being good for a recovering North American video game market, how they tried to retheme DDP to fit the Mario universe better, how the Super Star was used in DPP before it became SMB2, and how the game influenced the future of the franchise (Shy Guys, Bob-ombs, Princess Peach's floating ability in Smash, Luigi jumping higher than his brother, etc.). --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 23:27, 18 September 2017 (EDT)

RE:Hell Valley[edit]

I wasn't sure about the edit myself at first, but then I looked up the place. Hell Valley has several lava geysers, but is located in a snowy region. Name and conditions seem to match with that of Freezeflame Galaxy, so it appears to be a intentional reference. And from that monkey article on Wikipedia: "The name Jigokudani, meaning "Hell's Valley", is due to the steam and boiling water that bubbles out of small crevices in the frozen ground, surrounded by steep cliffs and formidably cold and hostile forests." Seems legit to me. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:22, 25 September 2017 (EDT)

Ah. Well, their file name for one: "HellValleySkyTree", matched with Freezeflame Galaxy's internal name, "BeyondHellValley", and its conditions. So while the look of the figures may not be a reference, everything else about them does appear to be so (unless you can find something about spirits haunting Hell's Valley. Or if they're supposed to represent the monkeys :P). Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:27, 25 September 2017 (EDT)
I said everything else but their look seems to be a reference to the place. Their internal name, Freezeflame Galaxy's internal name, the galaxy's properties of hot and cold. "Hell Valley/Hell's Valley" isn't exactly the kind of name you'd make visible in a Mario game, so the name must mean something. So it's not just the Easter Egg that appears to be referencing the place, the galaxy itself is as well. Nintendo has been known to put little cultural or regional references in their games, and with the connections between the galaxy's internal name and properties with the real location's name and properties, it doesn't seem coincidental. "Odd Comment"[edit]

When I put that, we still didn't know the rename. Either way, it still works, since the original game did not distinguish them from other Boomerang Bros. Especially given that Hammer Bros. in that game looked like deranged Sledge Bros. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 18:26, 27 September 2017 (EDT)

"Fire Snakes are a derived species"[edit]

Source? Logic dictates that no, they aren't. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:07, 30 September 2017 (EDT)

One's an entity made up lava, a liquid (barring Paper Mario, but we don't say Pokey's a cat based on its appearance there), and the other's a fireball. There's no official word on the subject, they look very little alike, and have dissimilar names. Saying they're the same is even less likely than saying Strollin' Stu and Wanderin' Goom are subspecies of Goomba, ie unlikely speculation. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:13, 30 September 2017 (EDT)
So can I remove that from the template and articles? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:06, 30 September 2017 (EDT)

Boss Bass DS[edit]

Hey, you have the guides for Super Mario 64 DS and Yoshi's Island DS, correct? Since we don't have direct citations in the article, I want to reconfirm that the giant Cheep Cheep is indeed called Boss Bass in them, especially since we now have an official sourceMedia:SMP page 62 excerpt.png indicating that the Bubba from Super Mario 64 is a Cheep Chomp and is classified separately from Boss Bass / Big Bertha. LinkTheLefty (talk) 11:40, 6 October 2017 (EDT)

Actually, since you mention it's the Nintendo DS Pocket Guide: does it by any chance refer to it by name at all in the Mario Kart DS coverage (namely in its Banshee Boardwalk cameo)? Also, for the Boss Bass article, please add the Yoshi's Island DS Nintendo Power and Prima Games citations to that section. LinkTheLefty (talk) 13:30, 6 October 2017 (EDT)

Hey Time Turner, how you doing, my boy? I've been working on my first official project ever, working on really developing the Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions article. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 01:47, 8 October 2017 (EDT)

Wow.[edit]

Hard to believe that merely a year ago, this somehow existed on the wiki. I really ought to have joined some time within the 8+ years I spent lurking, but my lack of constant internet access and bad connection when I did (had to deal with Norton security for quite a long time, and I only used the internet of my grandparents' computer) sorta made that not be much of an option...anyways, regarding that "Bomb-omb" article? Given that one recent source lists it as the same, and the other as different, I'd say make a proposal. After all, Big Goomba had a different name in all versions of SMB3, whilw Boss Bass/Big Bertha/Bubba/Cheep Chomp could be turned into an unsalvageable mess at the drop of a hat. Anyways, I made some talk points here, here, here, here, and here, care to weigh in? You'll have basically all day tomorrow before I get back on, I have to make a 2-hour drive after spending all day preparing each Sunday during the college semester... Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 04:54, 8 October 2017 (EDT)

Sorry to interject, but on the topic of Bob-omb - I'd like to ask you to hold off on that until/unless we have more information, since Mister Wu stated that Super Mario Pia lists "USA" & "SMS" among Bob-omb appearances. LinkTheLefty (talk) 08:18, 9 October 2017 (EDT)

RE:Moving Pages[edit]

Can you explain why What Links Here is telling me that Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach and Paper Mario all link to Parade, even though I changed the links? Mario didn't link to Parade even when I started! It's doing the same thing with Duplighost and Hammer Bro. and they don't even have the word parade. Is this a glitch?

RE: Courtesy[edit]

Hi, sorry for not informing you about that comment. I wasn't actually going to do anything to enforce the proposal myself, and was simply contacting Steve about the possibility of having automated edits to enforce the proposal. I even included a link to the proposal in the hopes that he can trace it back to you. Just some words of advice: I understand your frustration, I honestly do, but you have to assess the situation as thoroughly as possible before contacting the user in question about it, because for all we know, it could be a simple, honest mistake on the other user's part. As for this scenario, you are free to follow up my comment on Porplemontage's talk page, but please at least consider my advice in future disputes so that we can resolve them easier. Proposal Date[edit]

Uh, Time Turner? You set your proposal's deadline on September 14. It's October 9. Did you make a typo and mean to say October 14, or is that deliberate? I hope it's not. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:36, 9 October 2017 (EDT)

You're welcome. I think I'm starting to get the hang of being hyper and mellow, and I'm actually getting things done for once. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:52, 9 October 2017 (EDT)

"Discussed on the Discord"[edit]

That sounds like a hardly valid way of solving things, particularly as many members here aren't part of that. Ergo, I insist that you change the name back to its official English one until an actual proposal anyone can participate is is made. Because that's the fair way, not they "Behind everyone's backs push-through-polls" way. As it is, I don't agree with it, so it isn't a true consensus. Cheep Cheep (Snow Kingdom)[edit]

Seriously? Another weird Cheep Cheep-named thing? What's this one, a snowy owl? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:13, 27 October 2017 (EDT)

Well Red Cheep Cheeps alone had like 4 distinct behaviors in Super Mario Bros. 3, and at least 3 in Yoshi's Island, I think? Is it a situation like that? (Cheep Cheep behavior between games is honestly a mess, at least there's relative consistency with Troopa colors.) Or are they so distinct they certainly warrant their own page? Warnings Galore![edit]

Okay, can anyone just give out warnings to anyone who's pushing the limits a little bit? I thought it was only the admins who could give out warnings--but then again, there IS a policy that explicitly prevents anyone from just handing out warnings like candy to anyone for any reason, so I should probably know better. Okay, jeez, man, how are you able to respond to me so fast like that? Not that that's bad or anything, in fact, that's just great for me so I don't have to wait around seeing what the answers to my questions are. Keep it up! Lcrossmk8 (talk) 16:14, 27 October 2017 (EDT)

I got it. Thanks for the help! I hope you're doing well today. If you're curious, I'm doing great. Being a die-hard baseball fan, I am just fired up for the World Series. (I'm picking Dodgers in seven games, but that doesn't really matter.) Lcrossmk8 (talk) 16:18, 27 October 2017 (EDT)

Nintendo Badge Arcade proposal[edit]

I know that. In all honesty, I just don't know what to vote for, and the only reason I vote in proposals is because I just want to throw my two cents in and make my opinion clear. Re:(Mario Party Advance character)[edit]

Good catch, though I do still agree with renaming the identifier to "(Mario Party Advance)" per Bazooka Mario's reasoning just above that. LinkTheLefty (talk) 18:21, 28 October 2017 (EDT)

Good point, then "(Mario Party Advance)" wouldn't work. How would you feel about a proposal to make "(Mario Party Advance character)" an exception for those articles? I find myself completely agreeing with Bazooka Mario's rationale there when she stated that the current generic "(character)" identifier can be misleading in several instances, which basically took the words right out of my mouth. Granted, I can't think of any cases where we've done this to the identifier... But still, I believe this is a special case that exposes a rare weakness in the identifier guidelines. LinkTheLefty (talk) 19:02, 28 October 2017 (EDT)

Cataquack[edit]

First: Regarding the above, I'd like to point out that Coin Coffers are in Category:Amphibians due to looking vaguely like frogs and having names invoking frogs, despite only being as froggish as Cataquack is duckish. Second: This is the second talk page I've seen you leave "EDT)" before your new lines. Please make sure you don't do that, that's annoying to remove, and it messes up the line amount and visibility of where conversations go. Thank you. RE:Agreement[edit]

That's because it's what I'm going to test. I'm going to do ten with articles, and ten without. (Hopefully someone can check on the IP pageviews for me, as that's my plan for assessing the situation.) I also will try to do a similar test with Donkey Kong 64's Golden Bananas, so try to bear with me for now. MLPJToadetteWink.gif ToadettetheAchiever 17:26, 31 October 2017 (EDT)

RE:Rocket Flower[edit]

"Perfectly good" is a matter of opinion. Also, keep in mind that reuploading images is not always an immediate need, and suggesting one is just a way of saying, "Hey, maybe we should change this image...?". The tag should only be removed if we have either found a better image, or failed to find one. MLPJToadetteWink.gif ToadettetheAchiever 16:46, 2 November 2017 (EDT)

Again, I'm not suggesting that the image be outright removed right now; we just need to find one that actually contains the item alone. That's the purpose of maintenance tags: to keep there until the page in question is either fixed or the maintenance is no longer needed. MLPJToadetteWink.gif ToadettetheAchiever 16:55, 2 November 2017 (EDT)
That still doesn't mean that the issue can't be fixed by reuploading the image; the {{image-quality}} template can also be used for issues other than quality, by the way. MLPJToadetteWink.gif ToadettetheAchiever 17:01, 2 November 2017 (EDT)
See the first point in File:Dreamy mario rip.png. MLPJToadetteWink.gif ToadettetheAchiever 17:15, 2 November 2017 (EDT)

Reply[edit]

I scrapped them because it's nonsensical to make pages for things like the commemorative park and the helipad in New Donk City (for example) as they are just very small areas with nothing significant on them. Even the overall locations like New Donk City and Tostarena have been merged into the pages of their respective kingdoms, so it makes no sense to create pages for even smaller minor locations within these. At most a list of checkpoints could be made on the kingdom pages to show these kind of locations, but what content could separate pages for them even have? ~ Qyzxf (talk)

Feel the need to but in here too, but you're saying a tiny concrete lot that helicopters land on should have more coverage than the game's specific goals? What could be said about it that would give it more substance? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:34, 3 November 2017 (EDT)
Like I said on the edit summary, sure; some more significant places could get an article. Feel free to add the important ones, but what you do is you keep putting the random locations back on that bear no importance whatsoever. Additionally I never said anything about ‘a bunch of subsections’, I said to add a list on the kingdom article that lists the checkpoints. It's not a handful of examples; nearly every checkpoint flag in the game does not denote an important location that should get its own article. Maybe these locations could be added in the Kingdoms section of the template, making seperate rows for each kingdom followed by their locations to avoid listing them randomly together with other kingdom locations as well. ~ Qyzxf (talk)

Snow Cheep Cheep[edit]

Pardon my butting in, but you just said a name using an identifier (found in-game) would make a better specifier than a specified name (also found in-game). That seems a tad ridiculous to me. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:25, 3 November 2017 (EDT)

RE: Howzit[edit]

The file was basically a photo of File:Peach-Hime-Artbook Cover.jpg. I didn't see a point in that if the scan's good enough. Samus SMM.png Mario JC 21:15, 4 November 2017 (EDT)

It was a top-down shot of the front cover of the book. It's not a straight-up duplicate, but if the scan shows everything that's in the photo already, there's no point in keeping the latter, which was what the user was reminded about. If you'd like, I can restore the file for a double-check. Samus SMM.png Mario JC 21:34, 4 November 2017 (EDT)
With that watermark that was there until the new version was uploaded a couple days ago, it must have been easy to miss that they were two of the same thing. Samus SMM.png Mario JC 21:47, 4 November 2017 (EDT)
What do you mean? It's already been made clear why duplicates are discouraged, and they've received all three levels of warnings for other instances of this (last of which was issued last month) - since they've persisted (and on top of the fact that they received another one for removing said warnings), standard procedure is a tempban. Samus SMM.png Mario JC 04:32, 5 November 2017 (EST)
They were penalised for the new versions, not for the year-old ones. As I said, they must have gone unnoticed, but I'd argue the new versions don't make them any less similar at all. If they were that similar, they should've known not to upload the new versions in the first place. I didn't issue the warnings, but from what I can tell, some of the "duplicates" in question were similar cases to this, being images of the same thing taken differently. Re: SMO tables[edit]

Not owning the game doesn't help in describing them, but that needn't be a problem, I can write some descriptions if needed.
SMO helpfully includes a mode in which you can capture images while the world is frozen, and using that it is fairly easy to create pictures of particular items by zooming in on them. We can use that to create new item pictures of fairly high quality. Here are a few examples. Lakituthequick.png Lakituthequick 10:53, 9 November 2017 (UTC)

Not a problem at all. I don't have time to do some this instant, but simply by playing it is possible to acquire all needed images when I do. We just need to agree on a point first: replace all images or leave the Prima ones be? Some of these are JPEGs that already have at least two layers of editing over them, so the quality can only go up if we do, but we'd lose the "official" cut-out. Lakituthequick.png Lakituthequick 10:02, 10 November 2017 (UTC)
Those are indeed added by the game in snapshot mode. I think you can remove them. For the item and object images I was going to make a square crop around the subject anyway. Lakituthequick.png Lakituthequick 09:17, 11 November 2017 (UTC)

SMO Items and Objects[edit]

I just have a question about the Item's and Objects table on the main Super Mario Odyssey page. Is it really necessary to display them like that?--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 17:07, 20 November 2017 (EST)

That's still awfully bad, maybe even worse than before. What about how it's done on Super Mario 64?--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 17:19, 20 November 2017 (EST)
Sorry, that was harsh wording on my part. The table translates well to mobile, but takes up more space on desktop than the current one.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 17:24, 20 November 2017 (EST)
Would a list be so bad? It's not like the various items need an image or description on the main page. I think in many cases we've just listed out the items if there are so many of them.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 17:32, 20 November 2017 (EST)
That would be perfect. Keep the displayed images smaller so it can display more in a row, but make sure the images are like what we see with brick block, and not like with Moon Shard.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 17:40, 20 November 2017 (EST)

Re:Redirects[edit]

Hi, yeah, I am aware of that, and most of the time I do type out the link the proper way, but simply out of how big these links are is the main reason why I don't do it. Seeing how many certain pages would need as well (e.g. Super Bell Subway), I thought it was probably best, only in this situation, to link to the redirect rather than directly to the page. If it urgently needs changing then I will stop, but it's not that I'm ignoring the rules, I'm well aware of them. It's just what I thought was best for this single case. I've added a 50% parameter to the table, does it improve viewing or not? If not, I'll experiment with a different way to convey information. BabyLuigiFire.png(T|C) 13:38, 29 November 2017 (EST)

I'll probably write a table for this, but I don't want this to be a long scroll-fest either. BabyLuigiFire.png(T|C) 14:27, 29 November 2017 (EST)
I think I'll go for the Mario Kart Arcade GP 2 route of writing a table for these types of characters. BabyLuigiFire.png(T|C) 14:30, 29 November 2017 (EST)
So yeah, the table itself is complete but I won't be able to upload images until later today or tomorrow since I'll be at class most of the day today. BabyLuigiFire.png(T|C) 15:01, 29 November 2017 (EST)
All necessary screenshots are taken and now accounted for. BabyLuigiFire.png(T|C) 18:45, 29 November 2017 (EST)
I could take care of Mario Party: Star Rush as I'm just beginning to recapture screenshots in .png thanks to acquiring HANS, but I don't think I'll get to Mario Party 9 any time soon. As an aside, all Mario Party articles in MarioWiki have just a list for these guys too, as I did mention that this was my first time experimenting with this set up, so Mario Party 6, Mario Party 7, etc. all have the same problems as Star Rush and 9. Oh and both games also have a purple "Media needed" improvement tag that I also need to get to... BabyLuigiFire.png(T|C) 20:26, 29 November 2017 (EST)

Image Uploads[edit]

Question, but why don't you format the aboutfile template as you're uploading the image, saving the need to make an extra edit to fix it? BabyLuigiFire.png(T|C) 11:13, 30 November 2017 (EST)

Warning Extension[edit]

Wait, what? He's been here on the wiki longer than me? ...Oops, my bad. I didn't even mean to be rude in the first place, though. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:46, 1 December 2017 (EST)

Hello, I'm curious as to how calling someone "kid" is rude. I tend to say it verbally as a bit of a verbal tic, and it's no more rude than calling someone "buddy." Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:58, 1 December 2017 (EST)

Idle Chatter[edit]

Hey there, how you doing, bro? I hope you're doing well, because I am just doing great. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 20:55, 4 December 2017 (EST)

Ruins Key (Super Paper Mario)[edit]

Hi. The Japanese name seems to be the Paper Mario one; should we remove it before it is attested in Super Paper Mario? --Dine2017 (talk) 10:30, 9 December 2017 (EST)

"Some 24"[edit]

Maybe it's arbitrary in that he wasn't finished writing at the time? This one in the inaccuracies section seems iffy. Also, you still busy with school? Mine got out a week ago today. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:15, 15 December 2017 (EST)

Vote Removal[edit]

Hey, what the heck, bro, why did you remove my vote there? It was pretty legitimate. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 21:54, 17 December 2017 (EST)

And what exactly would that process be? In all honesty, all votes are valid if you consider them from different perspectives. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 21:58, 17 December 2017 (EST)
What, you think that certain votes are invalid, and so you're saying that entire perspectives are invalid, or are you saying that some votes simply do not look up the facts or clearly take them into consideration? Either way, my perspective is not invalid. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:08, 17 December 2017 (EST)
I know that, but I don't want people saying that my perspective is invalid. ...You know what, I'm not gonna make this any more complicated. I've stated what I think, and so I'm gonna quit yapping too much and get things done. I sincerely hope you have a good day, brother. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:11, 17 December 2017 (EST)

Hey[edit]

Hey I'm sorry about voting to remove your oppose vote, as I did not see the improvement tag. My mistake. DKPetey99.pngDKPetey99TCE

MH3o3[edit]

I added a link to a list of media page and uploaded all the media files from the game's soundtrack. Do you have any other suggestions to help the article reach featured status? DKPetey99.pngDKPetey99TCE

Vote Removal[edit]

Hey, it's my vote, and it was pretty legitimate too. You can't do that. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:10, 1 January 2018 (EST)

That's just what I did, bro, and the rules state that you have to get three votes, including an admin's vote, to remove oppose votes. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:12, 1 January 2018 (EST)
Okay, I looked. What now? The rules never said my votes were null and void, did they? I can still continue to oppose the nomination as long as I have legitimate reasons to do so, but fine, I'll take a look at the rules and see what happens. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:15, 1 January 2018 (EST)
I do. Did you not look at my vote just then? You can't just delete votes like that without looking. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:17, 1 January 2018 (EST)
I'm not arrogant, okay? Don't get caught up and frustrated. I'm just doing what I think is legitimate and right, and yes, I did see the reasons why my vote was removed. Let's not start getting into a shouting match, okay? I'm not acting like a goose. Let's stay calm and don't yell. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:21, 1 January 2018 (EST)
Because I have the right to oppose the nomination if I think it is not justified. It's that simple, and that's all I'm trying to do, bro. Let's relax and not get hyper. Don't start bouncing off the walls like I did. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:25, 1 January 2018 (EST)
That's a matter of opinion, and we very clearly have different opinions. I think I'm justified in opposing the nomination, and I've given my reasons for doing so. I've looked at the article, so I would know. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:29, 1 January 2018 (EST)
Hey, they never said that I couldn't keep opposing the nomination. I have no problem with how people vote and what their reasons are, but I'm just saying that I think I had good reason to oppose the nomination. I've considered everyone's reasons, and I've kept them in mind. I just want to keep the situation at a low here, but something tells me you're really angry. It's okay if you're not, but I'm just a little concerned, is all. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:33, 1 January 2018 (EST)
Whoa, buddy! That's what I was doing. I haven't forgotten, okay? I just have different opinions, and I'm just doing what I think is justified. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 22:37, 1 January 2018 (EST)

Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga + Bowser's Minions quotes[edit]

So many of them seem to be important, either to the story or to their character, so I'm putting them in. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:56, 1 January 2018 (EST)

I know that. I'm just gonna put in as many quotes as I think are important and deserve a spot, and just let it fill up and down by itself. I don't want to overthink it. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 00:04, 2 January 2018 (EST)

I am, don't worry. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 00:06, 2 January 2018 (EST)

SM3DW tables[edit]

It was discussed and several users agreed on MarioWiki:Featured articles/Unfeature/N/Super Mario 3D World. However, after looking more closely, some users do have several other varying opinions about the tables, so maybe it isn't completely agreed about like I originally thought. I should probably make a talk page proposal about it. --Super Mario Fan 67 (TCS) 22:05, 4 January 2018 (EST)

Alleyway Proposal[edit]

According to your Alleyway proposal, the second option is for merging though it clearly says delete. You mind rewriting the option to make it clearer?

Additionally, if you're making a proposal only concerning one subject, as that appears to be the case here, the proposal should be held on a talk page rather than the main proposals page. This one can be kept where it is for now as plenty has gone on already and it isn't worth moving, but regarding crossovers and guest appearances, and as per MarioWiki:Coverage#Guest appearances, these things are on a case-by-case basis anyway.

This has been an admin message. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:01, 5 January 2018 (EST)

A finished proposal doesn't matter much anymore, but if the proposal you're creating is centered around just one game, it should go on that game's talk page. Even if the page ends up getting deleted or merged and turned into a redirect, the talk page won't be deleted due to a proposal existing on it. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:07, 5 January 2018 (EST)

If the proposal is about a game that's listed on there, then yes. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 15:19, 7 January 2018 (EST)

Mario is Missing! images[edit]

Hi, do you think you could upload an image of each cities from the MS-DOS version (especially the red links)? Alien Bunny Sprite.pngL151Onnanoko transparent WC98.png

Character Categories[edit]

Just want to ask, while you're adding Category:3rd Party Species, why are you removing Category:Fortune Street Characters and Category:Itadaki Street DS Characters if they're a more definitive category? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 20:05, 11 January 2018 (EST)

I think I'll agree with Doc below as they appear to be individual characters in Fortune Street and Itadaki Street rather than full species. There are some others as background characters (I've noticed some Slimes around Castle Trodain, for example), but as far as playable characters go, these appear to be individuals. Slime can probably keep the Species category however, due to the She-Slime and Metal Slime also appear in Mario Sports Mix. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 20:11, 11 January 2018 (EST)

Fortune Street Dragon Quest stuff[edit]

While they are species in their home franchise, many of the ones seen in those instances seem to be individuals of said species, from what I can tell, effectively making them characters. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:07, 11 January 2018 (EST)

And I still can never tell Toad from any other generic red-spot-blue-vest (or occasionally blue-spot-blue-vest) Toad. I'm honestly not sure if Nintendo of Japan ever considered him a sole "character" as much as, say, Luigi. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:12, 11 January 2018 (EST)

MH3o3[edit]

So I'm refocusing my work back to Mario Hoops 3-on-3, and about to tackle the points about the NPCs you made on my talk page, here. How would you suggest I describe the NPCS on the page? I'm assuming a small dash and description next to the characters name on the list will not cut it. DKPetey99.pngDKPetey99TCE

Do you suggest cropping the images for the NPCs down to a sprite-like picture or is leaving the background ok like the MK7 article did? DKPetey99.pngDKPetey99TCE
Ok, tell me what you think. Feel free to adjust anything in the table you see fit-whatever helps improve the article. DKPetey99.pngDKPetey99TCE

Luigi in Mario Odyssey[edit]

Is that actually confirmed, or is it just dumb rumors? I don't know if he's right about that claim, but I'm gonna say he's not really correct about that. Lcrossmk8 (talk) 23:20, 15 January 2018 (EST)

Throwing and playing with stardust[edit]

I personally find that's suitable material for the BJAODN, as the wording there is both dumb and inaccurate. The Toads are literally running back and forth in the game. Also, the grammar of that didn't specify that what they were (allegedly) throwing was the star dust either, making it sound like they were just throwing in general. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 17:32, 16 January 2018 (EST)

JPG crops[edit]

When you cropped these JPG images, did you use lossless crop (e.g. with infranview)? Otherwise, quality is lost - unless you save as a PNG or other lossless format. --Hiccup (talk) 13:59, 17 January 2018 (EST)

Unless you use a "lossless JPG crop", then the image will be compressed again when saved. --Hiccup (talk) 03:51, 18 January 2018 (EST)

Order of navigation templates[edit]

Hi, just letting you know that with this proposal, Porplemontage supports a fifth option where templates are grouped alphabetically by the given names of each individual series (like option 3, but the other way around). I also have an oppose vote that might be worth looking at, and that you might want to comment on. Thanks! MLPJToadetteWink.gif ToadettetheAchiever 17:07, 18 January 2018 (EST)
