"Serious Competition"[1] is a musical theme composed by Aya Tanaka for Mario Party 5, where it plays in the minigames Mazed & Confused and Mario Mechs, as well as all five Duel minigames that take place in a laboratory-like room: Shock Absorbers, Countdown Pound, Whomp Maze, Pound Peril, and Piece Out.

Mario Party 5 marks the first appearance of "Serious Competition".
Mario Party DS[edit]
In Mario Party DS, an arrangement of "Serious Competition" is incorporated in the theme that plays in the Puzzle minigames, including the returning Piece Out. It is titled "Think It Out" in the game's sound test.
