RULES
  1. Standard Mario Wiki rules apply, of course. No spamming, trolling, vandalizing, removing comments, etc. Please follow the rules, your comment will get removed otherwise. You don't have to sign your comments here, but it'll make it easier for me to get back to you if you do.
  2. No swearing or obscenity. These words will get edited out ASAP.
  3. Please don't ask why I reverted or corrected your edit. Usually, I have a good reason and can back it up. Take a look at my contributions or the page history for more information regarding your edit, if available. If you must, you can ask for clarification, but only if you provide more than "Why did you delete my edit?!" (which will get removed).
  4. Questions about my Power Master games and/or YouTube videos are fine. There are other places for those kinds of talk, of course, but I don't mind them on here.
  5. Any questions relating to a different wiki, please post on my talk page there. If you're here to complain about a block I gave you on other wikis, your comment will be removed. Though if you need my immediate attention elsewhere, you can notify me here (or Discord), as I'm more active here than anywhere else.
  6. I'm a friendly guy and am willing to engage in friendly conversation, so long as the sections don't become too excessive.
  7. I will archive once this talk page reaches 100 messages. Please do not make any message telling me to archive. It's a waste of a notification, and it will be removed.
  8. Unless it's an important response you should know about or if I started the conversation on your page, I will respond here.
  9. I welcome friendship, but only if I know you well enough.
  10. I'm all for helping for with games, so long as I own it or the guide! Otherwise, I probably won't be able to help much.

Abandoned feature

Hi, would you mind adding the {{abandoned}} template to personal-image-sig}} as per this proposal? Thanks! Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 20:54, 15 August 2018 (EDT)

Re:

I meant to say that we don't need two redirects which one is capitalized and one not, and since it is called "Heroes of Light" in-game it's better to keep the one with the L capitalized. Blue Yoshi from Yoshi's Story Yoshi Egg 1990 Red Yoshi holding a Bumber 'Chute 21:26, 16 August 2018 (EDT)

The way I understand it, for titles like "Heroes of Light" where it has different cases for the words, it's best to have an all lowercase redirect (heroes of light) to accommodate it. More info here. EDIT: My edit summary was probably a bit confusing as well :/ Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 21:30, 16 August 2018 (EDT)

Subspace Army

Pretty sure those enemies weren't merged due to being in a gray area through their appearance in Smash Run, with it being saved for later to decide what to do with them as a community. I think, anyways. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 01:52, 17 August 2018 (EDT)

That's what I thought at first too. Then Superchao, one of the people leading the Smash Bros. merge proposal, said they were overlooked. But things can always be corrected later if need be. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 11:56, 17 August 2018 (EDT)

Posted as User:96.39.195.47 from my dad's computer and have the playlists on hand to prove that WildBrain has Captain N and SMB 3 episodes:

Are you outside the US by chance? Cause I am a US poster and despite finding the channel's Double Dragon cartoon playlist, the videos are blocked from being viewed here and maybe that's why you couldn't find any of the videos before hand for CN and SMB3? 97.94.4.14 17:31, 21 August 2018 (EDT)

I am in the US. Thanks for the links, but there's an issue here: Literally anyone can upload these episodes. Why should this channel in particular be notable? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:36, 21 August 2018 (EDT)

Fair point, but there are cases where there are channels that have legal rights for distribution and I'm pretty sure these links prove WildBrain to be legit, hopefully (https://www.wildbrain.com/) (https://archives.sfweekly.com/sanfrancisco/the-little-animation-company-that-could/Content?oid=2157828). And that being the case I do find it's good for those who want to rewatch or check out these shows with a legit means to do so. 97.94.4.14 17:41, 21 August 2018 (EDT)

So we've decided it's fine how it is. WildBrain holding the license makes it a valid publisher, though it's interesting how they were able to acquire it. I suppose I should probably watch some of them at some point :P Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 20:45, 21 August 2018 (EDT)

I'm changing computer in not so long. Maybe my I.P. will be different, but you could recognize me by what i say! --83.156.220.80 11:20, 23 August 2018 (EDT)

Speaking of the SMA3 guide...

Can you check if it has a name for Mini-Raven (even if it's just "Raven")? I'm pretty sure it only appears in Worlds 3-8, 5-7, & 5-8. LinkTheLefty (talk) 12:09, 23 August 2018 (EDT)

For some odd reason, the NP SMA3 guide doesn't have an enemy list. Forgot about the weird enemy class thing, but in 5-7, it says "Raven". Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 12:11, 23 August 2018 (EDT)
Additionally, on the Raven's entry on the page 128, it says that some of them inhabit Naval Piranha's castle. --83.156.220.80 12:15, 23 August 2018 (EDT)
It does, and yet the level guides themselves make no mention of them :P Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 12:20, 23 August 2018 (EDT)

I'm not too sure.

On https://www.mariowiki.com/Wrecking_Crew, I edited it The USA date to match it saying October 18, 1985. Do you think that's right?
The preceding unsigned comment was added by Benjaminkirsc (talk).

It was a launch title for the NES along with Super Mario Bros., so I believe so. If you can find a proper source, that'd be even more helpful. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 12:28, 23 August 2018 (EDT)

...Didn't know what you meant at first, but where in the game? You can probably add it yourself. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:53, 23 August 2018 (EDT)

Yeah, it's in Pyro Guy Peak. Setted my Nintendo 3DS to French and found the french name. I don't remember the whole name of the level though. --83.156.220.80 00:45, 24 August 2018 (EDT)

I.P.

Hey, it's me 83.156.220.80. My I.P has changed because i changed my computer. I hope that in the same case of my previous I.P, it will not inconsistently change, since i had a computer in which the I.P inconsistently changed. --109.8.90.153 11:49, 26 August 2018 (EDT)

Okay. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 11:51, 26 August 2018 (EDT)
Since the Super Mario World page mentions some discrepancies, should there be a section on the Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island page? Such as Huffin Puffins having brown legs in the artwork but light blue in-game, and Dancing Spear Guy being gold with shoes of the same color and green marks in the artwork but yellow with pink shoes and red mask paint. --109.8.90.153 12:29, 26 August 2018 (EDT)

Notable mistakes and errors

There's a section in the SMB2 and SM64 pages, and given how horrifically off-model the SMW graphics are, I consider it a disservice to split all the problems into different locations, as it makes it harder for people to read about them if they're all over the place. The same could be said about the character and enemy sections on the same page, and the "changes" section on the SM64 DS page. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 15:43, 26 August 2018 (EDT)

New Super Mario Races Table Wii

I finally redid the races table and got them sorted by series. Let me know what I need to change before I start adding descriptions GoombaBroadcast (talk) 11:40, 29 August 2018 (UTC)

For a minute, I thought you meant race courses like from Mario Kart. I'm still not sure what you plan to do with this table, as it just seems like a glorified List of species page to me. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 13:25, 30 August 2018 (EDT)

And since i am autoconfirmed since not very long, what do you think about my personal picture? I know i used a screenshot, replacing Yoshi and the Bandit. The Bandit's expression accurately ressembles Toad's expression here after getting the itchy powder. I also added some shading on the Bandit's mouth. Though, i didn't redraw on it, i actually redrawn Toad's face on the Bandit on my own. --Green Yoshi Yoshi! Wanna discuss? My contributions! 13:47, 30 August 2018 (EDT)

RE:Naming

Unfortunately, no. Maybe just use Ghost (Wario Land II enemy) and explain what it is being disambiguated with (something like "both the boss from the same game and at least one other enemy named "Ghost".")...? Just a suggestion. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 16:05, 30 August 2018 (EDT)

Done for the most part.

Recently added the WildBrain mentions for The Legend of Zelda (cartoon) (which as I noted on the page lacks the live action Mario segments unfortunately, but we get what we pay for which is kind of nothing:-)), and the Super Mario World (television series).

Even did one earlier this year for the The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! under this number before it changed (https://www.mariowiki.com/Special:Contributions/68.185.41.225). And neither here nor there, but they also have Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog, Pole Position and even the Battletoads pilot.

Other than that and some recent edits made, I don't have much more I think I'll be adding, so I didn't feel like bother with an account. Though I recall seeing some of your edits on the Dragon Quest wiki, so for future reference my account on there can be found here (https://dragon-quest.org/wiki/User:Antiyonder). 97.94.4.14 18:11, 30 August 2018 (EDT)

Looks good, though regarding the "live action segments" on the Zelda cartoon page, it doesn't quite make sense to me. I get what you're saying, it's referring to the Mario segments, but Zelda didn't have any, so that part seems a little off.
I edit Dragon Quest Wiki every now and then. Got some of the games, and the wiki really needs help. Got some projects lined up for it, just a matter of getting to them. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:17, 30 August 2018 (EDT)
I was referring to the Mario segments that aired with them as part of the SMB Super Show package like the two with Inspector Gadget bits for example (and a shame that those two in particular don't have recent legit distribution as far as I'm aware of). But yeah I've been editing there under the account since 2012 and a bit sooner before registering. In contrast with Mario with more worldwide fame, I felt I could easily contribute more for Dragon Quest due to it being unfortunately more niche in the US. 97.94.4.14 19:24, 30 August 2018 (EDT)
Ah, I see. Forgot the live action segments still played along the Zelda episodes.
Yeah, the smaller wikis could use a lot of help. Main reason why I decided to put together a list of topics from various wikis that need help shameless plug Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:37, 30 August 2018 (EDT)

YK:DDP

Um, plenty of those images were DDP-specific. For example, the Pokey, Beezo, and Gray Shy Guy ones. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:44, 3 September 2018 (EDT)

Whoop, good catch. I get what people are going for when adding SMB2 artworks/sprites to the gallery, but those are SMB2 stuff and originate from there. Looking through history, it's been the case several times. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 23:49, 3 September 2018 (EDT)
Actually no, a grand majority of them originate from the YK manual and are recycled in SMB2's, while SMUSA redraws everything. SMA then retouches SMUSA's art, with the exception of the Ninji artwork, which is retouched from Ninji's SMW art. (Also plz stop eating race tracks :P) Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:51, 3 September 2018 (EDT)
Okay, sure, I don't know a lot about what originates from where, so thanks for that. Looks like you were the first person to do that though, heh. (at least on the first page of the history) Race tracks? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 00:00, 4 September 2018 (EDT)
Ja, but notice I made sure to keep some (I was wrong about the Ninjis, it was actually the behavioral variants). Anyways, I'm not sure how the edits of the gallery got reverted, as it didn't say I was on an old revision. Best I can figure was that there was some hijinks with the back and forward buttons going on I wasn't aware of. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:05, 4 September 2018 (EDT)
All good as long as you catch it ;) I don't usually use the back/forward buttons when editing, specifically to avoid problems like that. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 00:07, 4 September 2018 (EDT)

When I made Category:New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe Images, there were only two images. Now there isn't. Just saying. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:12, 13 September 2018 (EDT)
Yeah, they got filled up quick. When more LM3 images get uploaded, the category can be created again. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 22:15, 13 September 2018 (EDT)
There's also the fact that image categories in general seem to not be subject to that rule, for instance this one, which last I checked was admin-approved. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:02, 13 September 2018 (EDT)
I don't remember the circumstances for that one, but there will be more images for Luigi's Mansion 3. Heck, you could even upload more if you wanted to! Or now than I'm done playing Smash for now, I could do it too :P Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 23:07, 13 September 2018 (EDT)

Puchipuchi L

Does it mention briefly the Puchipuchi L in your Advance guide, or SNES Nintendo's Player Guide on Hookbill the Koopa's Castle page? If yes, then what is their english name? Have they a separate name, or simply called Mildes? You apparently have both of those two English guides, and if so, does it gives an English name for Puchipuchi L? --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 13:20, 15 September 2018 (EDT)

Is this character actually part of Marching Milde, or is it something different? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 14:17, 15 September 2018 (EDT)
It doesn't only appear as a part of Marching Milde, since it has appeared in a secret area of Hookbill The Koopa's Castle, where if you defeat both of the two, you get a Red Coin. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 14:19, 15 September 2018 (EDT)
Ah, okay. The SMA3 guide simply says "two large Mildes". SNES guide doesn't say anything. Not very helpful... Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 14:23, 15 September 2018 (EDT)
So, and the SNES Player Guide? --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 14:23, 15 September 2018 (EDT)
Ps: If it's the case: Puchipuchi L should be moved to Large Milde again. What's the full description of the SMA3 one and in which page? --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 14:24, 15 September 2018 (EDT)
Shouldn't be moved back because "Large Milde" isn't the name used. If anything, it would be "Milde (large)", but that won't work because Marching Milde is also a large Milde. A discussion should probably happen on the talk page, but here's the info:
"You'll be lifted into a room with two large Mildes you can Ground-Pound."
It does say "large Mildes", but improperly. It's on page 79. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 14:27, 15 September 2018 (EDT)

New Super Mario Bros. U edit revert

Yeah, Alex95, I still don't understand why the recent edit from me in regards to the New Super Mario Bros. U article got reverted because I added the article about template there to state the exact same thing that New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe is on its way to the Switch console. As far as I'm seeing in the article, what was stated in the main summary for New Super Mario Bros. U (about the port announcement) is just basically stating news plus it's repeating what the "Article About" template stated on the top of the article itself. --M. C. - Profile | Talk Page 14:17, 15 September 2018 (EDT)

I would've thought we still list the port in the article because it's relevant to the game, but it seems that's not the case with Mario Kart 8 I just checked. We really should though, but you can revert back if you want to. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 14:20, 15 September 2018 (EDT)

Rocky Proposal

Hey, can you determine conclusively if the Rocky Wrench proposal is extended or concluded? Toadette the Achiever brought up Rule 9, "Proposals with more than two options must also be extended another week if any single option does not have a majority support: i.e. more than half of the total number of voters must appear in a single voting option, rather than one option simply having more votes than the other options."; however, as Yoshi the SSM points out, the key word is voters, not votes. I can't think of another case like this in recent memory. LinkTheLefty (talk) 17:06, 15 September 2018 (EDT)

A total of fifteen people voted, half of that would be 7.5 voters. Since option 2 and option 3 both have more than that, the proposal should be extended. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:11, 15 September 2018 (EDT)
I also brought up that Option 2 has five voters not in Option 3, but Option 3 only has four voters not in Option 2. 5 to 4. Option 2 wins. And besides, not only me, but Toadette and Flamechomp preferred Option 2 over 3. While only Wildgoosespeeder is the only one who prefers option 3. This leads to 8 to 5. Which, Option 2 still wins. As for a similar case, this proposal comes to my mind. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 17:19, 15 September 2018 (EDT)
Upon discussion with the team, it's been agreed to allow an extension in this instance. -- Ghost JamShyghost.PNG 18:24, 15 September 2018 (EDT)

I know this is outdated but can i express my condoleances and my sadness about not having be able to edit with her if she was still alive on her talk page, or should i directly express my feelings here? --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 12:14, 18 September 2018 (EDT)

You are more than welcome to post something on her talk page. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 12:15, 18 September 2018 (EDT)
I posted a message, look at her talk page and check history. And one question. In which conditions we are promoted to become a patroller? --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 12:53, 18 September 2018 (EDT)

In fact, i verify the Recent Change, for the Mario Kart, when someone is changing some informations, i'm not sure if he corrects or vandalizes, since i don't own Mario Kart games (albeit i share Mario Kart 7 with a cousin who gives me the special downloading with the two Nintendo 2DS being connected eachother). --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 13:11, 18 September 2018 (EDT)

I saw you commented on the Huffin Puffin proposal, but you didn't vote. If you vote, what would be your proposition? --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 13:27, 18 September 2018 (EDT)
I'm still undecided, but it looks like things are going well anyway. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 13:31, 18 September 2018 (EDT)

Onigiri

Hi, would you mind clarifying why you undid my edit to Onigiri? To put the WarioWare info through the "exceptions" section of the generic subjects policy:

  • The subject must have a function which is different from the real world counterpart. If the differences are extremely minor, the subject may not meet this requirement.
    • It's onigiri. It's white rice you mold into a conic shape and wrap seaweed around and then eat it. Nowhere in the WarioWare series is onigiri different from real world onigiri.
  • The player can consume or collect the subject for use. This does not apply to sports games.
    • Onigiri only appears as a collectable item in the Super Smash Bros. series, where its info is already described at Food. It can't be collected in any way in the WarioWare series.
  • The subject is significant to the media's storyline.
    • The only time onigiri is part of a storyline is when Dr. Crygor uses it in WarioWare: Twisted! to create a tilt-sensitive gaming system, which is nowhere near significant.
  • The subject is significant to the gameplay. This does not apply to sports games.
  • The subject is determined by the users to be notable.
    • That's what this discussion is for. As I statesd above, I think only the Wrecking Crew '98 section is worth keeping, and the rest should be deleted. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 18:25, 18 September 2018 (EDT)
I asked and Glowsquid said to add some of it back, but it looks like there was some confusion there looking at the conversation. I'll remove it. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:30, 18 September 2018 (EDT)
How about appearing as a food (ie an actual gameplay element that is an item) in Smash Bros? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:06, 18 September 2018 (EDT)
Well, as Toadette said, it's already covered in Food. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:08, 18 September 2018 (EDT)
Should at least get a cursory mention or link. It's weird not having them be linked in any way. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:10, 18 September 2018 (EDT)
Quick check through some of the other Food items shows this is a usual thing. Some don't have accompanying pages, either. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 20:15, 18 September 2018 (EDT)
It should at least get an {{about}}. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:17, 18 September 2018 (EDT)
If you want to, I suppose. But I think most people familiar with Smash would look up "Food" rather than the individual food item. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 20:19, 18 September 2018 (EDT)
They might look it up to try and verify that's what they saw. Who knows? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:37, 18 September 2018 (EDT)

Deletion summary

Hi, would you mind changing the deletion summary (restoring, then deleting again) for WarioWare, Inc. (disambiguation) from "Unnecessary redirect" to "Unnecessary disambiguation page"? The part at the end, I believe, can stay; it's just that one mistake at the beginning that needs to be fixed. Thanks! RE:Categories

I only created it because there are well over four entries for the category, it's just that pages haven't been created for them yet. That I feel is still acceptable to create a category for. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 15:24, 19 September 2018 (EDT)

That's what I meant to say. It would be a different matter entirely if that was the only suitable entry for that category; however, since there are more than fifty levels in the game, it doesn't really matter if the category is created early. That being said, there's no explicit rule saying that categories cannot be created early, and I don't see how such a rule could fall under this policy/guideline either. Needlenose-Plant

Hey, is the Sanbo Flower mentioned somewhere in the SMA3 Guide or the SNES Player Guide? They appear in Lake Shore Paradise. It's for confirming the English name. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 10:13, 21 September 2018 (EDT)

Nope. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 10:21, 21 September 2018 (EDT)

Apparent color of a proposal.

Me and Toadette the Achiever are having a little conversation of whether or not the latest proposal as of today should be red or brown. While I argue that it should be brown due to it being 9 to 9 (thus a tie), she argues that it just failed to reached a consensus and thus should be red due to a canceled proposal that proposed the opposite. More from me: Yes, this has multiple options. But, a 9 to 9 should be treated as a tie. And there are a few tied proposals out there that are brown. And I'm done. Now, Which color should it be? Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 11:49, 21 September 2018 (EDT)

Tied proposals don't happen very often, but the only proposals I'm seeing marked as a tie are those that consist of only two options (support and oppose). I say leave this red. Even though the top two options both ended in a tie, the inclusion of other options makes this an odd case. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 11:56, 21 September 2018 (EDT)

Alright, I am aware that making multiple accounts are against the rules; I was going to tell an admin to redirect that userpage to this one because I forgot the password to that account since I have not used the account for a while, but I had to go to sleep so I can get some rest before I go to school after doing tons of work. Up to you, I go with 100. Archiving talk pages shouldn't be frequent, so 100 seems like a good number to me. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 11:02, 22 September 2018 (EDT)
Another question, how much personal images (which i call custom pictures) you can have up to? I have uploaded another recently, showing the particular way i draw Bandits. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 11:08, 22 September 2018 (EDT)
The way i draw Bandits with the Following expression for my Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island Drawings.
What do you think? For the one failing in the Mini-Battle, i still based that Bandit's expression off of Toad's in one scene of the episode Jungle Fever.
Why is my custom picture being out of the blue space? *grunts* --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 11:09, 22 September 2018 (EDT)
You can have up to five images, as detailed at MarioWiki:Personal images. As for the blue background, it only extents as far as the most recent text, not image thumbnails. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 11:10, 22 September 2018 (EDT)
What do you think then about my custom picture? Does it looks good/cool? --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 11:11, 22 September 2018 (EDT)

I have "bomb-throwing Shy-Guys" in the SNES guide and simply "Boo Guys" in the GBA guide. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 13:54, 23 September 2018 (EDT)
Maybe Boo Guy (bombing) would be usable for the article name? --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 13:56, 23 September 2018 (EDT)
Sounds like a conversation to have on the talk page. But probably. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 13:58, 23 September 2018 (EDT)
In case it will be renamed, what's the whole description on both pages, and which pages? --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 13:11, 25 September 2018 (EDT)
"The bomb-throwing Shy-Guys in the attic present a bigger danger." - SNES guide, page 50.
"Be careful while you push the vase down the long platform-- pesky Boo Guys will work as a team to bring you down with bombs." - GBA guide, also page 50. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 13:15, 25 September 2018 (EDT)

I'm not sure I understand your question. Anyone can undo an edit and add a summary, but staff members have a rollback option they can use to undo edits quicker. I see that you are deleting. Speaking of deleting visibility, this revision's visibility should be changed because of the v word. Mario jc said it doesn't need to be hidden, so I'm going with his word. The guy was a troll, sure, but use of the word "vagina" isn't inappropriate in and of itself (it's actually kind of redundant, given they also used "female"). If they had used a different slang term, then yeah. And if by "revert" you mean the rollback tool, you don't have access to that. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 11:55, 2 October 2018 (EDT)

Re: Super Mario Land (series)

Thanks for the notice! Sorry for the lack of specification there, that was a mistake on my part. I believe we should delete the Super Mario Land (series) page, as we don't really have pages for other Super Mario sub-series. (Think New Super Mario Bros.) While the Super Mario Land series does include the first Wario Land game, arguably it's a similar case to Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, which is named as a sequel to Super Mario World, but is arguably just the start of the Yoshi's Island series. I hope this clears things up! --CompliensCreator (talk) 13:29, 8 October 2018 (EDT)

Well, these are the drop down reasons:
  • Common delete reasons
    • Copyright violation
    • Inappropriate content
    • Inappropriate personal information
    • Potentially libelous information
    • Spam
Spam and inappropriate content are the most common ones, yes. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:16, 9 October 2018 (EDT)
But what kind of thing has been put down that you list as "spam" when you delete them? Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 19:25, 9 October 2018 (EDT)
Usually external links that lead to product selling or something similar. In this case, a way to get free eShop codes which is, uh, no. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:27, 9 October 2018 (EDT)

Sorry to bother someone who doesn’t know me (although you might know me from SmashWiki) about something so minimal, but there needs to be a redirect from Ally Phone to Buddy Phone, because Ally Phone is what it’s known as in the UK, so anyone from there is probably going to be looking for the Ally Phone, not the Buddy phone. There was talk about Ally Phone being the American English name, so I'll do some checking on that first. You can create pages when you have an autoconfirmed account. Also, Blueflame105 is not registered on SmashWiki :P Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 14:32, 10 October 2018 (EDT)

The vandal I.P.

Also, thanks for having blocked the vandal. If anything else, is there any other conditions aside from asking for blocking someone and hiding his revision? Also, you don't need to use the revert after the vandal has been blocked, you can just use undo. ;) --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 06:45, 13 October 2018 (EDT)

Not sure I understand the question. If you mean using the admin noticeboard, that should only be used to report someone you think needs blocked. And using rollback is just easier. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 06:53, 13 October 2018 (EDT)
Also, forgot to ask you even though it should be another section. Does the SMA3 Guide still calls Red Blarggs like that, or were they just called Blarggs? (LinkTheLefty putted the SNES reference in which it didn't have en entry but only mentioned in a level layout). Red Blarggs appear in Burt the Bashful's Fort. --Green Yoshi FanOfYoshi 07:13, 13 October 2018 (EDT)
Looks like they are already called Gargantua Blargg, which is the name the guides use. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 13:59, 13 October 2018 (EDT)

Hi, I'm just wondering if it's okay to move Talk:Banana Bunch (minigame) to just Talk:Banana Bunch. Not sure how important this is as it probably wasn't cropped like the other one was, but the actual featured image was a now-deleted .jpg.... Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:29, 31 October 2018 (EDT)
It appears to be the exact same image, just in a different format. Do you still want me to replace it? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 20:32, 31 October 2018 (EDT)
If that's all it is, probably doesn't matter. Though technically, the featured image was an earlier, smaller revision. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:35, 31 October 2018 (EDT)
The dimensions are actually the exact same. The only difference is the jpg quality, so yeah, doesn't really matter. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 20:36, 31 October 2018 (EDT)
I mean the latest revision on that was 2012, which was an enlargement; in 2009, when the featured image system was still in place and taking up space on the main page, it was smaller. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:38, 31 October 2018 (EDT)
Oh, I see. But does that matter much? The Metal Mario was cropped and a different color, and the LM one was the wrong image. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 20:42, 31 October 2018 (EDT)

Though to be perfectly fair, given that the "Featured Images" section at the time was intended to show images that were higher than the wiki's average at the time, it might actually matter a bit more than it at first seems... Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:45, 31 October 2018 (EDT)

Better Place for Images?

The images on the "Turtle Bridge" wiki page are all above the first paragraph. I think it would be better if the Classic Mode image were above the paragraph that is about the Classic Mode and the Modern Mode and artwork images were above the paragraph that is about the Modern Mode. Do you agree? Dwhitney (talk) 15:24, 9 December 2018 (EST)

Yeah, that looked bad. I moved some things around. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:17, 9 December 2018 (EST)

Game titles

When the Game & Watch game Greenhouse was originally released, it was spelled "Green House." Should the wiki page about this game have the title spelled that way? Dwhitney (talk) 13:36, 11 December 2018 (EST)

Is it spelled "Greenhouse" in the Game & Watch Gallery games? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 13:42, 11 December 2018 (EST)

No, it is not. In fact, in G&W History in Game & Watch Gallery 4's Gallery Corner, it is also spelled "Green House." Dwhitney (talk) 15:07, 11 December 2018 (EST)

Well, in Game & Watch Gallery 3, it is spelled "Greenhouse." Dwhitney (talk) 15:12, 11 December 2018 (EST)

Found this video for G&WG3 showing "Greenhouse", but I can't find anything on the G&WG4 thing. Do you have something you can show? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 16:07, 11 December 2018 (EST)

World of Longplays has YouTube videos of NPI playing Game & Watch Gallery 4. In Part 4 of 4, NPI goes to G&W History in the Gallery, and the original release date for "Green House" is shown at about 2:33:28 in the video. Dwhitney (talk) 17:07, 11 December 2018 (EST)

Okay then. So that's the most recent name for Greenhouse; however, the microgame in WarioWare: D.I.Y. calls it "Greenhouse", while not the actual game itself, is the most recent name overall. So unless we have the microgame page named incorrectly, it would probably be best to put the alternative "Green House" name on the Greenhouse.
This should probably be brought up on Greenhouse's talk page with this information to decide to proper course of action. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:13, 11 December 2018 (EST)

Perhaps the game's title on its wiki page's title should be "Green House," since the page first talks about the original port, and the phrase "later spelled 'Greenhouse'" in parentheses can be added after the game's title in the first paragraph. Dwhitney (talk) 17:45, 11 December 2018 (EST)

Thing is, that would go against MarioWiki:Naming, the most recent name should be used due to the microgame's name. But if we're counting just the original game and ports, then "Green House" would be used. This could probably use a proposal on the talk page? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 17:53, 11 December 2018 (EST)

Okay, then. I understand your point. Dwhitney (talk) 18:04, 11 December 2018 (EST)

Something to consider adding to MarioWiki:Coverage

Hi, is it okay to add the following to the coverage policy regarding what the wiki doesn't cover:

  • All of the Saturday Supercade segments are legally the same show. While the Donkey Kong and Donkey Kong Jr. segments receive full coverage, the other segments that aired as part of the show (Frogger, Q*bert, Pitfall!, Space Ace, and Kangaroo) are otherwise unrelated to the Mario franchise and therefore are not given any coverage.

Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 16:32, 11 December 2018 (EST)

I'll see if that's alright. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 16:33, 11 December 2018 (EST)
What about Captain N: The Game Master? Shouldn't the episodes where Donkey Kong appears in a main role receive their own pages too? -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE 16:39, 11 December 2018 (EST)
The page says "However, if a subject is unique to the game while also being clearly derived from the Mario franchise, they can receive individual articles. For example, certain minigames from Nintendo Land, which includes Donkey Kong's Crash Course, Luigi's Ghost Mansion, Mario Chase, and Yoshi's Fruit Cart, prominently feature Mario images and icons, and therefore have articles. Other minigames, such as The Legend of Zelda: Battle Quest or Pikmin Adventure, do not have articles on the wiki.". The Captain N episodes can be given as a further example once the pages are created. --Glowsquid (talk) 17:22, 11 December 2018 (EST)

Uploading Images

Some of the Game & Watch game wiki pages request that additional images be uploaded (mainly of the games' original ports). I found pictures of them on intheattic.co.uk., and they are .jpg ones. I tried uploading one for "Rain Shower" by typing in the image's URL and summarizing it correctly, but the uploading page said the address was invalid. I put "JPG" in all lowercase letters but got the same result. If you want to try uploading images for the original game ports, the link to intheattic.co.uk's page about the classic game can be found under External Links at the bottom of each Game & Watch game page on this wiki. Dwhitney (talk) 00:22, 12 December 2018 (EST)

Are you uploading new versions of existing images or new images entirely? If the former, the file won't upload if the file type is different. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 00:41, 12 December 2018 (EST)

Still, are you not going to reprimant the person who spitefully said I was mentally handicapped for having a different viewpoint from them? All of the Battlefields should be changed to say they're returning (aside from the original, obviously), since they're functionally the same stage, and since every stage was redesigned in Ultimate, the "they're different designs!" argument doesn't work whatsoever anymore, and claiming they're "new" is spreading false information. Regarding SmashWiki, their policies should not affect us, particularly given they're less officiality-based and more fandom-based. Case in point. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 00:50, 13 December 2018 (EST)
Yeah, I was going to say something to them when I had the chance. Had to go soon after making my edit, but I'm here for right now.
I agree that they are fundamentally the same stage, but all of the Smash games regard them as something new. Brawl doesn't list them with the Melee stages and Ultimate lists them before everything else rather than any of the other groups. They seem to be in a class of their own, and that is simply "Smash stages". I guess with that, they're both new and old stages.
I also agree with the no fandom-based arrangement, but SmashWiki has the same arrangement of the stages as the games does. We have ours grouped a different way for Melee, Brawl, and Smash 4. Maybe we shouldn't make a distinction between new and old stages for Ultimate? Not counting the ones in this dispute, there's only four new ones. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 01:06, 13 December 2018 (EST)
In the old games, they're returning stages, but they aren't "retro" stages per se, and having them be in a different tab in Brawl where the other returning stages are would be kind of pointless, given they're default stages and not unlockable. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 11:13, 13 December 2018 (EST)
There are a couple of Melee Stages that are available from the start, but BF and FD aren't grouped with those because the designs of the stages are unique to each game. That's why they're new stages, they'd be returning if they used a design from an earlier game. I know you said that argument doesn't really work, but I think it certainly does, as the games don't regard each iteration as an old stage. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 12:22, 13 December 2018 (EST)
Then why is Cheese Land considered a returning track in MK8? It's less similar to its old iteration than the BF and FD. And regarding Smash stages, the N64 Mushroom Kingdom looks very different from its original version. BF and FD may look different, but functionally (ie the purpose of different stages), they are always the exact same thing. If not, they should have different articles, which seems rather superfluous. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 12:27, 13 December 2018 (EST)
Cheese Land is classified in-game as a returning GBA track, though definitely overhauled to account for the new mechanics. Same with the N64 Mushroom Kingdom stage. BF and FD are different cases: the same layouts as previous games, but are regarded as new stages in-game every time. I agree multiple articles would be overkill (though SmashWiki seems to be doing that). Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 12:35, 13 December 2018 (EST)
From what I can tell, they're identified as stages, but not retro stages. I can't recall them ever being specifically classified as "new stages," though I may be forgetting something. The closest to that I can think of is the Melee trophy, which itself was of the SSBM design. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 12:45, 13 December 2018 (EST)
The Melee stages were new stages because it was the first time they could be selected from the stage select, but they weren't actually new layouts and BF and FD appeared in the original game. Every single design of the stage is new in every game in the series, you can't say that for any other stage. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 12:57, 13 December 2018 (EST)
No other stages are in every game in the series anyway :P Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:07, 13 December 2018 (EST)
Which puts them in a class of Smash-unique stages all their own. Same stages, but reimagined for each new game with new visuals and soundtracks that other returning stages don't have (aside from maybe Temple in Brawl). Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 13:15, 13 December 2018 (EST)
sus Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:34, 14 December 2018 (EST)
I noticed. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 22:35, 14 December 2018 (EST)
Yeeeeeeah......should I say anything? I don't think I should. :S Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 22:41, 14 December 2018 (EST)
Nah, leave it be for now. Something will be said when they actually do something wrong. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 22:42, 14 December 2018 (EST)

Un-scroll-able Tables

The Normal Staff Ghosts and Expert Staff Ghosts wiki tables on the "Mario Kart Wii" wiki page don't show all content right away, and they can't be scrolled across to show the rest of the content. Why is that? Dwhitney (talk) 12:14, 13 December 2018 (EST)

I'm not sure what you mean. Are you viewing the charts on mobile? They might not display fully on mobile, but on my computer, they display perfectly fine. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 12:22, 13 December 2018 (EST)

I'm viewing them on a tablet. Dwhitney (talk) 13:16, 13 December 2018 (EST)

I guess they don't show very well on that. Lack of horizontal scrolling might be a tablet thing here, as the chart doesn't fit on my phone, but I scroll just fine on it. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 13:20, 13 December 2018 (EST)

Klobber Karnage

Hey. Can you delete this page on the DK Wiki? I have merged it to Klobber Karnage (Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest). Thanks! Scrooge200 (talk) 18:18, 14 December 2018 (EST)

I don't have the rights to delete pages on DKWiki, but marking the page for deletion will work and an admin there (usually Results May Vary (talk)) will get to it. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:24, 14 December 2018 (EST)

PRIMA SM3DW

Yeah, they look like crap, but they're PRIMA's official crops, so they can't really be of much higher quality upload-wise. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:30, 16 December 2018 (EST)

In fact, their official crop of a Beep Block is even worse. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 13:32, 16 December 2018 (EST)
They appeared to be manually cropped to me, as in background removed. Peepa's and that mouse thing esspecially don't look that good. Possible better versions are somewhere. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 13:36, 16 December 2018 (EST)
In which case they should probably be uploaded as separate images, as these are specifically for the PRIMA versions. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 13:40, 16 December 2018 (EST)
This was the best version I could find on the Prima eGuide. The background was like that to begin with. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 13:48, 16 December 2018 (EST)
Doesn't need to be two of the same image, but if that's the way the images actually are, then the quality tags can be removed. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 14:01, 16 December 2018 (EST)

User Page and signature Image

I understand that I can't create pages until I'm auto-confirmed, but Isn't there be a way to create the User Page? and I guess I can't do an image in my signature either, CappyThrow (talk) 15:01, 19 December 2018 (EST)

(Yes, you signed correctly) You cannot create any non-talk pages until you are autoconfirmed, which includes your userpage. You can upload images directly from your computer, but you can't create a signature page yet, either. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 15:02, 19 December 2018 (EST)

Okay, :( (sorry about the Mario Odyssey Model, didn't know) CappyThrow (talk) 19:15, 19 December 2018 (EST)

All good. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:18, 19 December 2018 (EST)

Apology

I'm sorry for my rude behavior on this wiki. Has any other previously blocked user said those words to you? Dwhitney (talk) 22:05, 21 December 2018 (EST)

Sometimes. But there's no worries as long as you follow the rules and keep improving :) Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 01:03, 22 December 2018 (EST)
