Nintendo GameCube - Nintendo Classics is an application released for the Nintendo Switch 2. It features a library of Nintendo GameCube games, with some supporting online multiplayer. The application was announced in a Nintendo Direct on April 2, 2025 and released at the launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025 worldwide for most regions; it was later released on September 9, 2025 in Taiwan. It is exclusive to active Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack subscribers.[6]
Default button mapping[edit]
If a Nintendo GameCube controller for the Nintendo Switch 2 is connected, the main menu's sound effects are replaced by those from Super Mario Sunshine. Using an original GameCube controller with the GameCube Controller Adapter does not enable these sound effects, nor is it able to suspend the software on its own.
If the player opens the application up with (or
) held in any direction, the application starts with the GameCube startup logo instead of the main application logo. If (or
) is held before the GameCube logo shows up, the alternate startup sounds will play depending on if it is held on one or four controllers.[9]

Luigi's Mansion[6] |
Mariooo, where are you?
One day, Luigi received the unexpected news that he'd won a huge mansion! Overjoyed, he called up Mario and invited him to celebrate the exciting news. But after arriving at the mansion and searching for Mario, who should have arrived first, Luigi is attacked by a ghost! After being saved from danger by Professor E. Gadd, Luigi expresses his panic that Mario is nowhere to be found. Luckily for Luigi, this professor has the perfect tools for the occasion! Now, armed with the Poltergust 3000 and a Game Boy Horror gifted by the professor, Luigi must explore the frightening mansion to find Mario in this action adventure game originally released for the Nintendo GameCube system in 2001. Shine your flashlight on ghosts to surprise them, then suck them up with the Poltergust 3000. When ghosts try to run away, the trick is to quickly tilt the stick in the opposite direction and back again repeatedly to weaken them. |
