Cage-in Cookin' is a Bowser minigame in Mario Party 5 and a Free-for-All minigame in Mario Party: The Top 100.
Overview[edit]
This is one of the three Bowser minigames in Mario Party 5, and it appears as one of the random Bowser events activated when a player lands on a Bowser Space. The object of this minigame is to escape from the cage to avoid being burned by Bowser. In order to get out of the cage, each player must press the buttons that appear on the cage's lock as fast as possible. Pressing the wrong button prevents action for a brief time. After a player presses a total of eight randomly chosen buttons, their character's cage opens, and the character runs outside the cave to safety. Players have five and a half seconds (ten in Mario Party: The Top 100) to complete this task. In Mario Party: The Top 100, the first player to escape wins, and those who do not escape within the time limit automatically get last place.
In Mario Party 5, if at least one player escapes, the camera pans to the escaped players, who are relieved. If all four players escape, the "draw" jingle plays, and Bowser gets frustrated as the players do their relief animations. If nobody escapes, Bowser burns everyone and then laughs.
Like all other Bowser minigames in Mario Party 5, this minigame takes place on a large mountainous Bowser statue, particularly inside the mouth.
