Swan Inn in the SNES release of Mario's Time Machine
Swan Inn in the SNES release of Mario's Time Machine.

Swan Inn is a hotel in Vienna. In Mario's Time Machine, Mario visits it in 1824 after travelling back in time to return Ludwig van Beethoven's Symphony No. 9. As he does not know the importance of the sheet in his possession, he enters the Swan Inn to ask the owner about the location and the music. Mario first asks him directly about the manuscript, though he is unable to tell who it is from, as there are many musicians operating in the area. Mario then asks if Ludwig has ever stayed in the hotel, to which he replies that Beethoven stayed once in 1787 where he met Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The owner says that he is "itching" to place a plaque commemorating how Beethoven stayed at the hotel, prompting Mario to give him a Backscratcher. He appreciates the play on words and gives Mario a Monocle from Beethoven's room in return. He then continues to talk about Beethoven, including how he is premiering his new symphony at the Symphony Hall.
