The whole point of the game for the one player is to shake a box around with the three players in it. The way to get one of the three players out, is for the one player to tilt the box in a certain way so the [[Spiny|Spiny Shells]] ram into them. The three players must survive for 30 seconds for them to win.
The solo player's objective is to shake the box around and eliminate the group players by tilting the [[Spiny Shell (red)|Spiny Shells]] into them. There are four small green dividers in the box that act as walls for the group players and Spiny Shells. The group players must survive for 30 seconds with at least one of them remaining in order to win.

Crate and Peril is a 1-vs.-3 minigame in Mario Party 6 and Mario Party: The Top 100. Its name is a pun on the name of the retail store Crate & Barrel.
