Iggy's Volcanic Castle, or Soda Jungle-Castle Icon.pngCastle, is the castle of Soda Jungle, in New Super Mario Bros. U. It is filled with Dry Bones and lava. This is the only level in the game where the lava creates waves, a method reused from World 8-3 of New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

Level overview[edit]

Mario and Luigi battling Iggy Koopa.

The level begins on a platform above waves of lava. A section of the ground that moves up and down is found, along with a Dry Bones and a ? Block containing a power-up. Some pits of lava are found in between moving platforms, and more Dry Bones are found. Another ? Block containing a power-up is found, and is followed by a row of Dry Bones with a Big Dry Bones at the end. More moving platforms are found, leading to a stationary platform with the Checkpoint Flag on it. More platforms that raise up and down are found, along with a Red Ring. Dry Bones and Big Dry Bones are also encountered. A section of moving platforms with Lava Bubbles in between them is found leading up to the boss door.

The boss door leads to a cannon. After being launched out of the cannon, the player proceeds to fight Iggy Koopa. During the battle, Iggy uses Warp Pipes to travel around the room, and is able to run on the ceiling. He shoots magic spells, some of which are red and generate Magmaarghs upon touching the lava. After being jumped on three times, Iggy is defeated.

Star Coins[edit]

  • Star Coin 1: Just before the Checkpoint Flag, the player must freeze the nearby Dry Bones with an Ice Flower and toss it at the first Star Coin.
  • Star Coin 2: Following the section with the Red Ring, three Warp Pipes are found above platforms. The middle Warp Pipe can be accessed by either bouncing off a Dry Bones or freezing one and using it as a platform. Inside that pipe is POW Block that is used to bring down the second Star Coin.
  • Star Coin 3: The player can go down a Warp Pipe hidden in the lava. The Warp Pipe leads to a room in which the player can bounce off the Big Dry Bones walking on the lava to get the third Star Coin.
