Template:DKJB Kingdom The Watermelon Kingdom is the third kingdom linked to the D Barrel which appears in Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. The kingdom is located in a dry, arid region. The Watermelon Kingdom can be accessed by collecting two or more Crests. Donkey Kong travels through this kingdom to fight Rogue-Hog, the ruler of the kingdom. In order for Donkey Kong to finish the levels in this world, he must eat a giant watermelon at the end of each stage.

Levels

Monkey Fest

Monkey Fest is the first area of the Watermelon Kingdom, and it takes place inside of a large tree. Donkey Kong is aided by many of the Helper Monkeys in this stage, who form a chain of Helper Monkeys, tossing Donkey Kong from start to finish. Therefore, the player only has to clap with good timing to complete the level. It is possible to complete the level with a large combo of beats, as the ape can perform many combo moves in it.

Level Layout

This level starts out with Donkey Kong jumping off of a small mushroom near a Helper Monkey. This monkey throws him upwards, where another Helper Monkey is waiting. Once he reaches this helper, he is thrown upwards again on a tightrope. Donkey Kong can bounce in the rope and the tightrope above it to reach another Helper Monkey. This monkey throws him to a chain of Helper Monkeys. With well-timed clapping, the ape can be thrown by the many Helper Monkeys all the way to the top of the area. Upon being thrown by the final monkey before hitting the next tightrope, Donkey Kong is thrown between a large group of Banana Bunches, which he can grab for more beats. At the top of the area, there is a tightrope to bounce on, as well as another Helper Monkey right above it. Like the monkeys before, this Helper Monkey throws him to several other helpers. On the way through the chain of Helper Monkeys, who swing him to the eastern part of the tree, Donkey Kong is thrown towards many Blooms, which can give him more beats if enough are collected.

Eventually, the Kong begins to fall downwards through the level. There are some more Helper Monkeys on the way down to throw him to some Blooms and bananas. At the bottom of this area, he is flung across the center of the tree by one of these Helper Monkeys. Now on the western part of the level, Donkey Kong lands on another long tightrope. There is a platform in the center of this tightrope to help him reach more Helper Monkeys. The monkeys throw him upwards, where he encounters more Blooms. Eventually, the Kong is sent between many round enemies, to another Helper Monkey. This monkey throws him even higher, until he finally reaches the giant watermelon, growing on the end of a large tree branch. Once he bites into it, the level ends.

Desert Oasis

Desert Oasis is the second part of the Watermelon Kingdom. As the name implies, the level takes place in a desert oasis. There are many strange, yellow fairies floating around in this level, and if Donkey Kong sends a sound wave toward them, they form platforms and other objects to help him progress. Coconuts also grow in this level, which Donkey Kong can pick up and throw at enemies to defeat them. At the end of this level, the Kong must eat the giant watermelon to complete the stage and begin the battle against Rogue-Hog.

Level Layout

At the beginning of this level, there is a straight pathway across the barren desert. A few bananas and Banana Bunches can be found around here, as well as many Blooms. Enemies attack Donkey Kong as he travels through this area, including pink hog foes. If the ape jumps off of these enemies, he can reach a few platforms above, which only appear when Donkey Kong sends a sound wave towards the yellow fairies nearby. Many Banana Bunches are located on these platforms. Farther into the level are some flowers that shoot bananas in the air when the player claps their hands, as well as more strange, yellow fairies nearby. Donkey Kong can send a sound wave at them to make them form a platform, and then wall jump to stand on top of them. If the Kong manages to reach the area above with the help of these fairy platforms, he finds even more of these creatures. They form slanted platforms, which must also be used to reach a higher area.

There are some Banana Bunches on the way up, and a Gale Hawg waits at the top of the area as well. Once the enemy is defeated, Donkey Kong travels over a small gap and them summons another group of fairies to make a platform to bounce on. This new object can help him bounce upwards, where more fairies can be summoned to catch him. There is a pathway to the left of here, but it is infested with insects. Donkey Kong must defeat these foes and wall jump to the area above him, where there are some more small hog enemies. To the right of them is a min-boss, who hides in a coconut tree. By countering the foe's attacks, the ape can defeat him and move on to a tree branch nearby. There is a giant watermelon growing on it, and once Donkey Kong bites into it, the level ends.

VS. Rogue-Hog

Afterward, Rogue-Hog, a brown, hog-like creature with a pink Mohawk, must be faced, the arena being a canyon-like area, with a destroyed bridge in the background above. He attacks by throwing electrified coconuts at DK. However, these are also his weakness; by clapping, the coconut is knocked into the air, which can then be kicked at Rogue-Hog, dazing him. Donkey Kong can then jump onto him and punch him. Regular coconuts can also be obtained by knocking at him while he isn't dazed, though only up to three can be obtained. Upon reaching half HP, Rogue-Hog will then start tossing red, spiky fruits at DK. Upon reaching zero HP, Rogue-Hog will be knocked unconscious, his body giving off small amounts of electricity.
