Spine-Tingling Spine Coaster, or Superstar Road-1, is the first course of Superstar Road in New Super Mario Bros. U. It is unlocked when the player collects every Star Coin in Acorn Plains.

In Challenge Mode, this level is used in Spine Coaster Coin Cruise.

Layout[edit]

This level contains a Spine Coaster, similar to Thrilling Spine Coaster from Rock-Candy Mines, and has a background from the grassland stages in Acorn Plains. The level begins on a section of the ground, where a ? Block containing a ? Block is found prior to the Spine Coaster. The Spine Coaster moves along the track, and Big Fuzzies on circular tracks are found around the path. As the Spine Coaster speeds up, Big Fuzzies are found on the same track, along with some that jump from tracks and more that are on circular tracks. A ? Block containing a power-up is found, followed by another ? Block containing a Super Star at the top of a hill. More Big Fuzzies follow then follow, and a Red Ring is reached after some jumps and hills. Multiple Big Fuzzies follow, with two large groups of them appearing in the section leading to the Goal Pole.

Star Coins[edit]

  • Star Coin 1: The first Star Coin is located between two Big Fuzzies.
  • Star Coin 2: The second Star Coin is located below the Spine Coaster tracks. It moves to a higher location after a short period of time.
  • Star Coin 3: The final Star Coin is found near the end of the level when the Spine Coaster starts to alternate between two tracks. The player needs to be at the back of the coaster in order to get it.
