VS. Scruff Roc is the boss level of the Orange Kingdom in Donkey Kong Jungle Beat, as well as the second boss level overall. It takes place on a large canyon during the sunrise. This level's objective is to defeat Scruff Roc.
Level layout[edit]
In this level, Scruff Roc has 500 health points. It attacks by flapping its wings to either fire sharp feathers at Donkey Kong or create powerful winds to blow him away. To defeat it, Donkey Kong must use the Helper Monkeys to catapult himself up to its weak point—a massive and black egg that Scruff Roc is holding—and damage the boss by headbutting the egg.
Once Scruff Roc loses at least two fifths of health, the egg will be covered in smoke, and it will begin the second (and final) phase. In this phase, Scruff Roc moves somewhat faster and can only be attacked after striking the egg. Donkey Kong should use the Sound Wave Attack to stun Scruff Roc after he reaches the boss or its egg, then grab onto the egg and headbutt it. If Donkey Kong deals damage to shatter the egg, it will be defeated and he will earn one to four crests in the original Donkey Kong Jungle Beat and one to three in the enhanced New Play Control! port for the Wii.
