This is the script of Super Mario Bros. Wonder.

At several points, narration references the player's chosen character by name; this is represented here with "[character]". In these places, the game refers to both Yellow Toad and Blue Toad as simply "Toad", and to all of the Yoshis as "Yoshi". The game's text also has many phrases highlighted in blue; this page uses a lighter shade, to distinguish them from links.

Opening

Playable area

The game begins with the player's chosen character entering from the left. A short introductory narration then appears:

Narration: "Welcome to the Flower Kingdom! It's just a short hop away from the Mushroom Kingdom."
"Upon receiving an invitation from Prince Florian, [character] and the others are traveling here for the first time!"

This introductory area consists of a simple straightaway with several Talking Flowers, as well as several of the game's playable characters walking to the right. Playing as one of the characters mentioned below will prevent them from appearing in the described locations.

The very first Talking Flower is found immediately, on the ground before a fountain. A second one flies above the right side of the fountain.

Talking Flower 1: "Hey there!"
Talking Flower 2: "Where's the party?"

Mario and Luigi are encountered ahead, followed by another flower.

Talking Flower: "Oooh! So exciting!"

After this, there are two Poplins, and a group consisting of Yellow Toad, Blue Toad, and Peach riding Yoshi. There is a Talking Flower high up in the air, so much so that it will not comment if the player stays on the ground:

Talking Flower: "So many visitors today."

Shortly before the end of the area is a bush that Nabbit peaks out of, and then the last Talking Flower here, accompanied by two more Poplins.

Talking Flower: "Have a great time!"

Upon reaching the end of this area, the camera pans to the right and slightly up, framing the Flower Castle in the background, and the Super Mario Bros. Wonder logo appears. It transitions to the next scene with a fade to black.

Main cutscene

The scene fades back in on the sky, with the sound of the characters chattering amongst themselves. The camera slowly pans down to the ground, showing the gathered characters—Mario, Luigi, Peach, and the Toads on the left, and two Poplins, Toadette, and Daisy on the right. In the middle is a podium with a Wonder Flower floating above it.

Prince Florian enters, jumping up onto the podium from behind it, and gaining the attention of the other characters. He bows and receives brief applause. As he begins talking, Kamek flies by in the background. After seemingly giving a short speech, Prince Florian gestures up at the Wonder Flower.

Kamek flies by again, much closer. Florian becomes worried, and looks in the direction Kamek flew. He jumps back in alarm with a large "!" bubble.

Bowser flies in with his Koopa Clown Car, to everyone's concern. He breathes fire, and Kamek and Bowser Jr. briefly fly by. He eyes the Wonder Flower, before lunging for it. As he does, Mario jumps for the flower as well, but Bowser gets to it first.

The power of the Wonder Flower activates, causing Bowser, his Clown Car, and the Flower Castle in the background to glow. They all transform into particles that swirl together into a ball, before growing into Bowser's new form: Castle Bowser, a giant combination of all three elements. The sky turns dark, and Kamek and Bowser Jr. fly to Castle Bowser's sides to laugh along with him.

Castle Bowser concentrates, spreading dark smoke with a green outline; it seeps into the ground, causing giant Wonder Piranhas to sprout. The ground shakes, causing the characters in the foreground to stumble. After laughing once more, Castle Bowser flies off, passing closer as he does. An iris out marks the end of this portion of the cutscene.

The scene irises back in at a Poplin in front of their house, near a Goal Pole. The Poplin spots something in the distance and looks curiously, before reacting in alarm as the sky darkens again. The Poplin runs inside their house in a panic. Streams of the dark smoke come and transform the house into a fortress, trapping the Poplin inside; the Goal Pole's flag also transforms into one with a Bowser symbol. The Poplin exclaims "HELP!" as Castle Bowser starts flying by in the background.

A scene transition takes the focus back to Prince Florian and the other gathered characters; Florian and the Poplins are distraught.

Prince Florian: "Was that King B-Bowser? How could he steal our Wonder Flower (Pipe-Rock Plateau)Wonder Flower... and our Flower Castle too?!"
"I can't believe Castle Bowserhe merged with our beautiful castle like that. It... It's just so awful!"
"Castle BowserBowser will make a terrible mess of our whole kingdom if we don't stop him somehow..."

Suddenly, Mario jumps twice, causing Florian to react in happy surprise. Mario puts a hand on his chest proudly. The other playable characters join in too, cheerfully chiming in.

Prince Florian: "You'll help us? Thank you!"
"I'd like to be your guide, if you don't mind. Let me just..."

Florian jumps into Mario's head, then pops back out, clinging to his hat. With that, everyone sets off, with the Poplins waving them goodbye. Afterwards, the four Yoshis and Nabbit run past, heading in the same direction; the Poplins wave for them too.

Talking Flower: "I believe in youuu!"

An iris out marks the end of the cutscene. Afterward, the player's chosen character walks into the world map, and a banner reading "W1 Pipe-Rock Plateau" appears.

Pipe-Rock Plateau

Welcome to the Flower Kingdom!

Talking Flowers

The course's first Talking Flower is found at the very beginning:

Talking Flower: "Onward and upward!"

Another is found shortly after:

Talking Flower: "What a beautiful day."
"Love a good breeze."

The third one is near a sleeping Goomba.

Talking Flower: "That Goomba looks so serene."

This flower reacts if the Goomba is woken up or defeated:

"Well then."

One Talking Flower is on the edge of a shallow pool of water:

Talking Flower: "Mmm, refreshing!"

The fourth Talking Flower is found after the second 10-flower coin.

Talking Flower: "Ahaha!"

There is a Hidden Block with a Propeller Flower a short distance to the right of this flower. If it is hit, the flower reacts.

"Oh!"
"Would ya look at that!"

In the place the Propeller Flower leads to, a Wow Bud can be found that turns the Cloud Blocks into coins that rain down.

"Coiiiiins!"

This course has a secret bonus area in the sky, only accessible if the player is using the Add ! Blocks Badge. This area has a single Talking Flower:

Talking Flower: "Wow!"
"Go, go, go!"

Back in the main course, right after the Checkpoint Flag, there is a pair of Talking Flowers by a horizontal pipe, one at each end.

Talking Flower 1: "Heyyyy!"
Talking Flower 2: "Hiiii!"

A Talking Flower reacts to the Wonder Flower appearing: (TODO: There's some condition for this cutscene to happen; something like "have you completed this wonder effect before?" I've found it's not that exactly, but I've yet to pin it down precisely.)

Talking Flower: "Whoa..."

If the Wonder Effect is trigged, this flower reacts as the pipes below it start moving:

"Whoa!"
"Whoa-whoa!"

Another flower is found near the Wonder Seed.

Talking Flower: "What's that?"

When the Wonder Seed is collected, this flower has something different to say.

"Hey, you! What WAS that?"

Earlier in the course, an pipe leading to an underground area can be accessed if the Wonder Effect is avoided, or by backtracking after it finishes. This area has a Talking Flower found between two wilted flowers.

Talking Flower: "I want some water too!"

This flower reacts if a player in Elephant form splashes water on them.

"Thank you!"
"That trunk sure is useful, huh?"

Just to the right is a group of five Talking Flowers.

Talking Flowers: "Waterrrr!"

If the Wonder Effect is not activated, the Talking Flower that would otherwise comment on the Wonder Seed says this:

Talking Flower: "Didn't you see something back there?"
"You're just gonna leave?"

This course's last Talking Flower is found on the final set of pipes before the Goal Pole. If the Wonder Seed was collected, it says this:

Talking Flower: "Bye-bye!"

If the Wonder Seed has not yet been collected, it says the following instead. This can happen either by avoiding the Wonder Effect entirely, or by going past the seed and reaching this flower with the Wonder Effect still active.

Talking Flower: "So long!"

On completion

After this course is completed for the first time, Prince Florian jumps out of the player's character to talk on the world map:

Prince Florian: "All right! Wonder Seed (Pipe-Rock Plateau)Wonder Seeds are going to be really useful on our adventure."
"Let's go get some more!"

Piranha Plants on Parade

Near the beginning of this course, a Talking Flower looks at the area seen in the background.

Talking Flower: "Wonder if you can get over there..."

The background area can be accessed via a nearby pipe. If the player returns to the Talking Flower after visiting this area, it says this:

"So you CAN get over there!"

The second Talking Flower is found shortly after.

Talking Flower: "Walking plants, huh?"
"Almost as weird as talking plants."

Another Talking Flower is on a platform above the Wonder Flower.

Talking Flower: "Ooh, that's a pretty flower."

This Talking Flower reacts as the Piranha Plants begin singing in the Wonder Effect.

"Ummmm..." (just before they begin singing)
"Are they...singing?" (as the first set begin singing)
"They're singing." (just as the first set leaves)

This is the only Talking Flower seen during the Wonder Effect. If the Wonder Effect is avoided, another Talking Flower can be found on the ceiling near some Long ? Blocks. This flower reacts each time the player jumps into the ceiling here, saying one line per hit. After all the lines are exhausted, the last one repeats.

Talking Flower: "Ouch!"
"Hey!"
"Agh!"
"Stop!"
"I said stop!"

There is one last Talking Flower, shortly after the spot where the Wonder Effect ends. If the Wonder Effect was not triggered, it says this:

Talking Flower: "You should come back sometime."

After the Wonder Effect, it says this:

Talking Flower: "You don't see that every day."

The route to this course's secret exit has the player take a pipe to an area in the foreground. The Talking Flowers in the main area comment as they pass by, starting with the one on the ceiling:

Talking Flower: "Wait a sec!"
"How'd you get over there?"

The Talking Flower near the end says:

Talking Flower: "Heeeey!"
"What are you doing?"

Captain Toad above Deep Magma Bog

If the player finds the secret exit of Piranha Plants on Parade, they can take a pipe to the peak of the mountain above Deep Magma Bog and find Captain Toad there. When stood next to, he has a speech bubble saying "So much smoke..." Talking to him results in this interaction:

Captain Toad: "Quite the surprising place to run into someone, huh?"
"Nice to meet ya! This...IS our first time meeting, right? Or maybe you already know who I am!" (This line is only said if this is the player's first encounter with Captain Toad.)
"I heard there was treasure somewhere around this place, and next thing I knew, here I was!" *
"Do you think anyone lives on those isles over there? And what's with all the smoke?" *
"Also! I found Flower coin50 flower coins."
"They're all yours! Should be helpful out in the world. See ya around!"

The player receives the flower coins. Talking to him again will result in him repeating the two lines marked with a * above.

Scram, Skedaddlers!

There are only two simple Talking Flowers in this course. The first floats above the end of the first Marimba Block bridge:

Talking Flower: "Love that sound!"

The second is hidden inside one of the peanut boxes in a pile near the last 10-flower coin.

Talking Flower: "Ya found me!"
"Did I surprise you?" (if the player is near the Talking Flower)

Castle Bowser cutscene

When the player reaches the space on the world map immediately after Scram, Skedaddlers!, a cutscene starts with the camera panning to Castle Bowser, hovering over the next section of Pipe-Rock Plateau.

Castle Bowser: "Ohhh ho ho ho... Isn't this fun!"
"The Flower Castle is me, and I'm the Flower Castle! Soooo much Wonder power!"
"I can feel myself getting stronger...and stronger...AND STRONGER. Soon, everything will be mine!"
"Gwahahaha!"

The camera pans back to the player character, who Prince Florian pops out of.

Prince Florian: "That no-good Castle BowserBowser! I won't stand for his antics!"
"We've got to get to him somehow!"

The camera pans to a Propeller Flower pad just up ahead.

"Ah! Let's use that Propeller Flower up ahead to catch up!"

The cutscene ends, leaving the player to use the Propeller Flower. When they do, there is a scene transition leading directly into a complementary second cutscene.

This second scene opens on Castle Bowser laughing. He flies across the savanna area, transforming the level dioramas to their uncompleted states and creating Wonder Piranhas as he passes by. When he transforms Pipe-Rock Plateau Palace, Bowser Jr. appears.

Bowser Jr.: "Aw yeeeah! My Castle Bowserdad's a CASTLE now!"
"Nobody's gonna be able to stop him now that he's all-powerful! Heh heh!"

Bowser Jr. jumps into the palace. The camera pans back to the beginning of the area, where the player's character arrives via Propeller Flower. Prince Florian jumps out, and the camera pans to center the Wonder Piranha coiled around Badge House in Pipe-Rock Plateau.

Prince Florian: "This is getting worse and worse! And look at the plant coiled around that house over there!"
"Hey, I've got it! Let's try using our Wonder Seed (Pipe-Rock Plateau)Wonder Seeds!"
"I bet that will fix this. They're really powerful!"

The cutscene ends, leaving the player to use the Wonder Seeds to destroy the Wonder Piranha.

Badge House in Pipe-Rock Plateau

First visit

The player's character and Prince Florian enter the Badge House, finding a Poplin with a treasure chest.

Prince Florian: "Is everything all right in here?"
Poplin: "I was so scared! I thought I'd wilt on the spot. But I'm glad I was here to keep this badge safe."
Prince Florian: "Oh, yeah, badges! They have lots of different effects."
"People who travel through the Flower Kingdom like using them."
Poplin: "Um, Prince Florian, if I could be so bold...would you accept this gift from me?"
"I'm sure someone as princely as you will know how to use it best!"

The Parachute Cap badge comes out of the chest, and Florian equips it.

Prince Florian: "Oh, thank you! I've always wanted to wear one of these."
"I can use the power of this badge to help everyone!"

The bud on the Poplin's head blooms.

Poplin: "That brings a bloom to my heart, Prince Florian! I'm happy that you're pleased!"
"Badges will take some trouble out of your travels."

The player character waves goodbye. The camera zooms out when the cutscene ends, revealing a Talking Flower by the exit to the training ground.

Talking Flower: "This way!"

The next area is introduced with a "Training Ground" banner, which also includes the description of the Parachute Cap badge. Within the area, there is a Talking Flower atop a pair of Semisolid Platforms, near a line of arrows indicating an arc that can be followed with the Parachute Cap ability.

Talking Flower: "Press R Button in midair!"
"What is R Button, anyway?"

Another Talking Flower is by the training ground's exit.

Talking Flower: "See ya later!"

Subsequent visits

Poplin: "I hope the badge I gave you has been useful!"
"It was a round badge. The round ones change your actions. There are also square and triangle badges too."
"I bet you'll find more in your travels!"
Talking Flower: "Wearable powers! Who'd've thought!"

The Talking Flowers in the training ground remain the same.

First open area

Upon reaching the first open area, a short cutscene plays.

Prince Florian: "Oh, look at this place! There's so much to see, but..."
(The camera pans over to Wiggler Race Mountaineering! and the Wonder Piranha surrounding it.)
"There's another one of those icky plants! We're going to need more Wonder Seed (Pipe-Rock Plateau)Wonder Seeds..."
(The camera moves to a wide shot of the open area.)
"So, where do you think we should head first?"
(A picture of the game's map screen appears.)
"If you want to have a look at the map, just press L Button!"

Poplin Shop

In the top-right of the open area is the first Poplin Shop. Their speech bubble says "Welcome!" Talking to them results in this line, before the shopping interface appears.

Poplin Shop: "Hi there! Here at the Poplin Shop, we sell everything! And we accept Flower coinflower coins as payment."

If the player bought a badge, they receive this question when they finish shopping:

"Do you want to try using a different badge?"

The choices given are "Yes, please!" and "No, thanks." The former opens the badge selection menu.

Regardless of what happens previously, the Poplin Shop finishes with this line:

"Come back again sometime!"

Bulrush Coming Through!

The first Talking Flower here is behind a wall of Hard Blocks. Reaching it requires luring the nearby Bulrush into breaking the blocks, which will also cause it to bash into the wall by the Talking Flower.

Talking Flower: "That was stressful!"

Another Talking Flower is found on top of the second Hip Tree in the course.

Talking Flower: "Bored, bored, bored."

Ground-pounding the Hip Tree causes it to rise up, taking both the player and the Talking Flower to a sky area.

"Wow!"

There is a Talking Flower shortly after the set of Hard Blocks that conceal the Wonder Flower.

Talking Flower: "Something feels...off..."

If the Wonder Effect here is triggered, the Talking Flower reacts just as the Wonder Bulrush herd arrives.

"OooOOaaaAAH!"

After the Wonder Bulrushes destroy the Goal Pole, a Talking Flower is encounter behind it.

Talking Flower: "AaaaAAaaAAAH!"

Past the Wonder Seed is another Talking Flower. If it is visited with the Wonder Effect still active, it says this:

Talking Flower: "You seein' what I'm seein'?"

After the Wonder Effect is finished, it says this:

"That was wild."

Below the second Goal Pole is a tunnel with a Talking Flower in it. This flower's lines are spaced out over time.

Talking Flower: "Hey, someone to talk to!"
"Farewell, lonely days!"
"Ahaha!"

Here Come the Hoppos

This course's first Talking Flower is under some Semisolid Platforms that lead up to the way forward. It is also beside a pit.

Talking Flower: "Heya!"

If a Hoppo is rolled into the pit, it will say this instead:

"Boiiing!"

This course has a sky area accessed by bouncing on a Hoppo. There is a Talking Flower at the entrance to this area.

Talking Flower: "Hi!"

Further into the course, there is a high-up structure made of a set of Hard Blocks and a pair of Long ? Blocks, with a Talking Flower and a Hoppo on it. If the player gets up there—most simply accomplished by knocking the Hoppo down and bouncing on it—the Talking Flower reacts:

Talking Flower: "How'd you get up here?!"

The last Talking Flower of the course is near where the Wonder Flower appears.

Talking Flower: "Ah, what a peaceful day."

During the Wonder Effect, this Talking Flower has several lines, which are used one at a time, each time the player comes near it. After going through all of them, it starts over from the beginning.

"AaaAAah!"
"Wh-what's happening?!"
"Waaaaah!"
"There's so many of them!"
"Do something!"
"There! Over there!"
"It's right there!"
"You can do it!"

After the Wonder Effect, it has this line:

"Phew!"

Rock-breaking Poplin

At the top-middle of the open area is a path blocked by a rock with Bowser-like horns and spikes. Just beside it is a Poplin with a pickaxe, with a speech bubble saying "This rock fell here!" Talking to them results in this interaction:

Poplin: "Oh, it's terrible! This rock fell here because of that awful Castle BowserBowser!"
"I'd smash it if I could, but it's just so huge..."
"If only I had Flower coin10 flower coins... They give us Poplins an energy boost."

The player is given a choice between "Here you go!", with the price of 10 flower coins indicated, and "Maybe later..." Choosing the latter results in this response:

"I really need a boost of energy..."

If the player chooses "Here you go!", but does not have at least 10 flower coins, the following line will trigger:

"Hm, I think I need more Flower coinflower coins to be back at full strength. Sorry..."

If the player chooses "Here you go!" while having enough flower coins, the Poplin will bloom, and say this:

"Thank you! Now I've got some oomph in my bloom!"
"I'll break this rock in no time!"
"Hey, rock! Stop blocking our path!"
(The Poplin attacks the rock, creating a cloud of dust and ultimately destroying it.)
"I broke the rock with that bloom of oomph you gave me! Please, go through!"

After breaking the rock, the Poplin's ambient speech bubble with read "Head through!", and they will say this if talked to:

"I was blooming with energy thanks to you! Oh, and watch your step!"

Sign about adjusting controls

In the area past the breakable rock, this sign is found in the top-left. Its speech bubble says "Adjust the controls?"

Sign: "You can adjust your controls by pressing Plus Button and then opening Settings."
"From there, you can customize the controls for actions like dashing or ground pounding if you want to!"
"You can also turn motion controls on or off, change how you access badges after losing a life, and more."

Captain Toad in Fluff-Puff Peaks

In the top-right of the area past the breakable rock is a Warp Pipe, obscured by a cloud. This pipe leads to a detached island in Fluff-Puff Peaks, where Captain Toad is found. When stood next to, he has a speech bubble saying "What a view!"

Captain Toad: "Quite the surprising place to run into someone, huh?"
"Nice to meet ya! This...IS our first time meeting, right? Or maybe you already know who I am!" (This line is only said if this is the player's first encounter with Captain Toad.)
"I was busy exploring—searching for treasure—and next thing I knew, I got caught in a blizzard..." *
"I didn't find much treasure, but the view sure is pretty, huh?" *
"Oh, right! During that blizzard, Flower coin50 flower coins came flying right at me!"
"I hope they'll help you out there on your own adventure!"

The player receives the flower coins. Talking to him again will result in him repeating the lines marked with a * above.

Rolla Koopa Derby

The first Talking Flower in this course is above the top of the screen, located on top of a plateau-esque structure. While it remains undisturbed, it repeats this:

Talking Flower: "Zzz..."

If the player reaches this Talking Flower – something made easier by the Hidden Blocks on either side of the plateau – it reacts with this:

"Zzz—HUH?!"
"What is it?"
"Can't a guy get some shut-eye around here?"

The remaining Talking Flowers are encountered only during the Wonder Effect.

(TODO: These flowers clearly have some conditions for talking related to the Wonder Tokens, but I haven't analyzed that properly yet.)

Talking Flower 1: "This is wonderful!"
"So shiny!"
"Look at you—walkin' on air!"
"You should keep going!"

Talking Flower 2: "Wheeeee!"
"Clinky, clinky!"
"So many of them!"
"Make sure you don't miss any!"

Talking Flower 3: "Ohhhh!"
"What's this?"
"Never seen anything like it..."
"*sniff* *sniff* *sniff*"
"Ah..."
"Now that's a good smell."

Wiggler Race Mountaineering!

Before the course

When the player collects 10 Wonder Seeds, enough to destroy the Wonder Piranhas blocking this course, this dialogue occurs:

Prince Florian: "Now that you've collected some Wonder Seed (Pipe-Rock Plateau)Wonder Seeds, I'm sure we can do something with them!"
"Let's go to where that coiled plant is."

During the course

This course starts with a special banner.

"Wiggler Race!"
"Hold Y Button/B Button and move to dash! Reach the goal before the Racing Wiggler!"

(TODO: The Talking Flowers that cheer the characters on don't show speech bubble, but they still probably ought to be described)

All of the Talking Flowers in this course have different lines if the player is falling behind. The first of these is located above the first Zip Track, normally saying:

Talking Flower: "Wow, zippy!"

If the player is behind, it says:

Talking Flower: "You got this!"

Above the first bridge of Marimba Blocks is the second and third Talking Flowers, in a pair:

Talking Flower 1: "Go, go, go!"
Talking Flower 2: "You got this!"

wait what's the difference? (pt 1)

Talking Flower 1: "Dash, dash!"
Talking Flower 2: "Daaash!"

wait what's the difference? (pt 2)

If the player passes by these flowers while behind in the race, the one on the left drops a Super Star. While the later pair of Talking Flowers and the single one by the Zip Tracks can also give a Star, this is the only one to say something different for this.

Talking Flower 1: "Use this!"
Talking Flower 2: "Daaash!"

second marimba blocks

Talking Flower 1: "Zooooom!"
Talking Flower 2: "Look at you go!"

If the player is behind, they say:

Talking Flower 1: "You can do it!"
Talking Flower 2: "Dash, dash!"

zip tracks

Talking Flower: "Woooooo!"

If the player is behind, it says:

Talking Flower: "Hurry! Hurry!"

goal, player wins

Talking Flower: "Woo-hoo!"

goal, player loses

Talking Flower: "Ohhh!"
"Give it another go, eh?"

After the course

If the player wins on their first or second try, this dialogue occurs.

Prince Florian: "We did it! We won a Wiggler Race—a Flower Kingdom specialty!"
"Wiggler was nice enough to give us an Auto Super Mushroom Badge to celebrate your victory!"
"It's a really great badge. It triggers the effects of a Super Mushroom when you start a course."
"Want me to wear it?"
(The player is given the choices "Sure!" and "Maybe later.")

If the player wins after losing at least twice—so that Wiggler has already given them the badge—this dialogue is used instead.

Prince Florian: "We did it! We won a Wiggler Race—a Flower Kingdom specialty!"
"Ahhh! I love the feeling of running through a race course!"

losing (even if you did in fact dash!)

Prince Florian: "Wiggler sure is fast. What a tough opponent."
"I bet holding Y Button/B Button to dash will make all the difference the next time we race though."

losing twice (counted as clearing the course)

Prince Florian: "What's this? Wiggler let us pass by?"
"It must be impressed that we keep trying to run our best!"
"And for some reason...Wiggler gave us an Auto Super Mushroom Badge!"
"That badge is really great. It triggers the effects of a Super Mushroom when you start a course."
"Want me to wear it?"
(The player is given the choices "Sure!" and "Maybe later.")

losing three times

Prince Florian: "Ugh! We almost had it!"
"If we want to take a break from racing, Wiggler is letting us pass by. We can always come back later!"

losing four or more times

Prince Florian: "Wiggler is so fast, but I know we can be faster!"
"If you hold Y Button/B Button to dash, I'm sure we'll cross that finish line first."

Seeing the palace

Prince Florian
"Oh no! They've even managed to take over the palace here!"
"There's a special treasure kept there that's known as a Royal Seed."
"We've got to do something before they use it for some evil purpose!"

Captain Toad encounter #3

Ambient:

Captain Toad
Lost? Me?

Interaction:

Quite the surprising place to run into someone, huh?
(I bet the "first time meeting" line is said at whichever place you encounter first)
I was searching for treasure, and then I started wondering...
Is anyone searching for...me? I'm completely lost.
Anyway, where are we? Do you know?
Oh! I almost forgot! I found 50 flower coins.
Maybe you can make use of them on your adventure. I'm rooting for ya!

Pipe-Rock Plateau Palace

Entrance

On the course's loading screen, Florian gives a reminder:

Prince Florian: "Let's take back the palace! And don't forget that you can press R Button if you want to change the badge we're using, OK?"

At the entrance of the palace, a Talking Flower looks at the dark plant growths.

Talking Flower: "Ew..."
"What am I looking at?"

Bowser Jr.

Bowser Jr. talks to the player character before fighting them. The beginning of the dialogue differs based on whether the player is using the Invisibility badge. Normally it is:

Bowser Jr.: "What, you think you're gonna stop me? Hehe... OK, then. I'll play with you."

But if the player is invisible:

Bowser Jr.: "Huh? Who's there!"
"Ohhhh, you wanna play hide-and-seek, don't ya? Hehe... All right. I'll play with you!"

The dialogue after this does not change:

"This palace is super mega loaded with Dad's Wonder power."
"No way you're gonna beat me! But it's gonna be fun to see you try."

The battle begins without further ado.

Clearing the world

Narration
And so, [character]'s party reclaimed the palace.
With a Royal Seed safely in hand, they set off in pursuit of Bowser, who has somehow turned into a castle!
Can they stop Bowser before he pulls off whatever he is planning?
Talking Flower
See ya later!

Heading to Petal Isles

Prince Florian
The Petal Isles are just ahead. This beautiful place is the heart of our Flower Kingdom.
Now, let's try to catch up with Bowser!

Petal Isles, first section

First entry

Prince Florian
I'm sure that Bowser must be around here...
Whoa! Is that—

Pan to Castle Bowser in the center of the Petal Isles, circled by his six Cloud Piranhas.

Castle Bowser
Heh heh heh... No one can even get close as long as my Cloud Piranhas are here.
Which means I can focus on gathering up aaaall the Wonder power!
Once I've got enough to pull off a big Wonder, the world will be mine!
Gwahahaha!

Pan back to the heroes.

Prince Florian
This is just awful! Isn't there some way we can stop him?

The Royal Seed from the palace pops out of the player's character.

Oh! What's this?!

The Royal Seed floats floats over to Bowser and sucks one of the Cloud Piranhas into itself, before floating off.

Castle Bowser
What?! Where'd that Cloud Piranha go? What have you done!

The Royal Seed returns to the player character.

Prince Florian
So much power... All from just one Royal Seed!
Of course! That's our answer!
I have a request that's almost too much to ask of you... Will you please help me find more Royal Seeds?
They're among our most prized treasures, and I believe we can use them to save the Flower Kingdom!
The Royal Seeds will get rid of the Cloud Piranhas that are swirling around Bowser.
And if we get rid of all of them, we'll be able to reach him!

The player character jumps affirmatively.

Hooray! Thank you!

A map of the Petal Isles appears, with the gate to Fluff-Puff Peaks highlighted.

Well then, let's make our way up to Fluff-Puff Peaks, north of here.
There's a Royal Seed at the palace way up at the top!

The player character and Florian do poses. The camera pans to show the path to Angler Poplin's House appearing.

Angler Poplin's House

Angler Poplin: "Ugh. All the fish have been scared off by that guy. I can't get any fishing done with him around..."
Prince Florian: "Oh, this is awful. We have to help."
"Don't worry! We'll do everything we can to stop Bowser. Once he's beaten, I bet the fish will come back!"
Angler Poplin: "Really? You think that'll work?"

The Angler Poplin blooms.

"Ooh, that's put the bloom back into my day!"
"I know what I can do to help! Take this Wonder Seed. I reeled it in a long time ago."
"Wonder Seeds are so pretty, and every world's seeds have their own color!"
Talking Flower: "All for you!"

The Wonder Seed is released from a chest, and the player character and Florian celebrate. The game returns to the world map.

After Robbird Cove

Prince Florian: "Yikes! Th-that was scary... I usually stay away from birds!"
"After all that, I could use a break. A little shopping might be nice."
"I've heard that the Poplin Shop here sells a helpful ! Block badge."
"And remember that if you want to swap out your badge, just press R Button to see what you've got."

Poplin Shop

Ambient speech bubble:

"Check it out!"

Talked to:

Poplin Shop: "Hi there! Here at the Poplin Shop, we sell everything! Our special ! Block item is super popular."

The view of the world map contracts to a circle to transition to the shop screen.

Badge question:

"Do you want to try using a different badge?"

The player is offered the choices "Yes, please!" and "No, thanks."

Come again:

"Come back again sometime!"

(Is there anything else?)

Fluff-Puff Peaks

First entry

The scene opens on Bowser Jr. in front of Fluff-Puff Peaks Palace.

Bowser Jr.: "Heh heh! I've got this view allllll to myself."

Bowser Jr. jumps into the palace. The camera slowly pans back to show an establishing shot of the entire area. A banner showing "W2 Fluff-Puff Peaks" appears.

The view zooms back in to show the heroes at the world's entrance.

Prince Florian: "OK! We've arrived at Fluff-Puff Peaks! There should be a Royal Seed at the summit."

A map of Fluff-Puff Peaks appears.

"Brrr! This is gonna be a rough trip for me. I get cold pretty easily..."
"Oh, don't forget you can orient to your surroundings by pressing L Button and having a look at the map. All right, let's go!"

Fluff-Puff Peaks Cabin

Prince Florian: "It's so c-c-cold here..."
Poplin: "Hello, Prince!"
"I welcome you to Fluff-Puff Peaks, where climbers dare the heights of our tranquil mountain."
"The summit is pure bliss, especially if you yodel up there. There's no better echo!"
"But a scamp in a silly mask is up at the summit right now... It's not safe for anyone to go climbing anymore."
"I'll give you a Wonder Seed to help... Take back our beautiful mountain, please. Pretty please?"
Prince Florian: "I won't stand for this—of course we'll help!"
"I bet Bowser Jr. is behind this whole mess—no doubt about it."
"Let's climb to the summit and kick him off the mountain. We'll reclaim the Royal Seed up there too!"
Talking Flower: "Pretty please!"

The Wonder Seed is released from a chest, and the player character and Florian celebrate. The game returns to the world map.

First mountain-climbing Poplin

Ambient:

Poplin: "Grrrr!"

Interaction:

Poplin: "Grrrr! I'm so frustrated!"
"I wanted to climb higher, but now I can't, thanks to the mess that masked-up scamp made!"
"I really, really wanted to reach the top, and now... Ugh! Can't someone DO something about this?!"

After Condarts Away!, ambient:

Poplin: "You did it!"

After Condarts Away!, interaction:

Poplin: "The path is cleeeeear!"
"Whoops! I should save my yodeling voice for the summit."
"Thanks for all your hard work!"
"I'm going to take in the scenery here a bit longer, then I'll keep on climbing."

Poplin Shop #1

Ambient speech bubble:

Poplin Shop: "Halfway there!"

Talked to:

Poplin Shop: "Welcome to the Poplin Shop, where we sell everything! Snow or shine, we're always open."

Second mountain-climbing Poplin

Ambient:

Poplin: "Awww..."

Interaction:

Poplin: "What to do... What to do..."
"Oh! Is the path that leads up here back to normal? What a relief!"
"You see, it got blocked just as I made it up here. I've been stuck ever since!"
"The path that climbs to the summit has also been blocked..."
"It'd be nice if we could all go up there again..."
"Maybe I should give up on reaching the top..."

After Up 'n' Down with Puffy Lifts, ambient:

Poplin: "You did it!"

After Up 'n' Down with Puffy Lifts, interaction:

Poplin: "Wow, you're amazing! You cleared the path to the summit too!"
"The sight of our mountain going back to normal puts a bloom in my step!"
"I'm going to rest up a bit before heading to the summit!"

After Fluff-Puff Peaks Flying Battleship

Prince Florian: "Th-that was the scariest thing yet! I reeeeeally don't like heights!"
"Oh, that reminds me..."
"I heard there's a badge that helps you survive a fall. It's sold on this mountain somewhere!"
"If you do get a new badge, press R Button to see what you've got—from there you can swap badges."

Third mountain-climbing Poplin

Ambient:

Poplin: "Amazing!"

Interaction:

Poplin: "That was absolutely AMAZING! You took out that flying ship like it was nothing at all!"
"If you got all the way here, I bet you can take care of the masked meanie, no problem!"
"The summit is just up ahead!" (The camera pans up to the palace before this line, and returns after it.)
"I'll be cheering for you!"
"And we'll all yodel together at the summit once it's safe for us to go up there!"

Poplin Shop #2

Ambient speech bubble:

Poplin Shop: "Fall fearlessly!"

Talked to:

Poplin Shop: "Here at the Poplin Shop, we sell everything! Put on the Safety Bounce Badge, and you can fall without fear!"

Fluff-Puff Peaks Palace

Entrance

On the course's loading screen, Florian gives a reminder:

Prince Florian: "Come on, let's take back this mountain together! Press R Button if you want to change the badge we're using!"

There is a single Talking Flower at the start of the course:

Talking Flower: "This place is intense..."

Bowser Jr.

Normally, Bowser Jr. says this before battle:

Bowser Jr.: "Hey, it's you!"
"You climbed all the way up to the summit just to play with me, huh?"
"Well, if you wanna play THAT bad, I guess we can."
"I'm gonna do some wild stuff with Wonder power, so you should be extra scared!"

But if the player is using the Invisibility badge:

Bowser Jr.: "Mmm, I'm all snacked up, so it's time for a little nap..."
"Huh? It feels like somebody's watching me..." (There are slight pauses between the last three words.)
"Probably that prince and his friend. They just never go away..."
"Well, I'm not gonna let you bug Dad!"

End of Fluff-Puff Peaks

Narration: "With the Royal Seed from Fluff-Puff Peaks in hand, [character]'s party continues their journey."
"But the road ahead is filled with even more dangers, and [character]'s quest is starting to get much more difficult!"
"Will they overcome what awaits them? How well they use the badges they find will make all the difference."

Talking Flower: "Yodelayheehooooo!"

Prince Florian: "Now, let's use a Propeller Flower to head back to the Petal Isles!"
"The wind up here is pretty strong, so hold on tight!"

Petal Isles, second section

Using the second Royal Seed

Returning to the Petal Isles from Fluff-Puff Peaks, the heroes are ready to use their second Royal Seed.

Prince Florian: "All right, Royal Seed..."
"Go ahead! Get rid of one of the Cloud Piranhas protecting Bowser!"

The Royal Seed goes to Castle Bowser and sucks in one of the Cloud Piranhas, before returning to the player character

Prince Florian: "Hooray! It worked!"
"Thank you so much! Now, let's keep at it. So, where next..."
"Oh, I know! Shining Falls! I'm sure there's a Royal Seed at the top of those waterfalls!"
"Let's start by heading east, toward Shining Falls!"

The path to the next isle reveals itself.

After Wiggler Race Swimming!

Prince Florian: "We did it! We beat Wiggler, and we got a Wonder Seed too!"
"I can't believe how fast Wiggler is, even in the water."
"Wiggler doesn't mess around!"

(Again, still gotta do the losing dialogue)

Shining Falls

First entry

The scene opens on the top of Shining Falls, where Royal Seed Mansion is. Master Poplin appears in front of the building in a puff of smoke.

Master Poplin: "Oh? I see that we have some visitors. I must go greet them..."
"POOF!"

Master Poplin vanishes in another puff of smoke. The camera pans across the world to its entrance, where the player character enters. A banner showing "W3 Shining Falls" appears.

The view zooms back in to show the heroes at the world's entrance.

Prince Florian: "We've reached Shining Falls!"

A map of Shining Falls appears.

"I think I remember hearing that there's a Royal Seed at the top of these waterfalls."
"If you get turned around, you can check your map with L Button!"

Master Poplin's House

Master Poplin: "Oh, it's you, Prince! All right then! I welcome you to Shining Falls..."
"where our waterfalls offer a cascade of trials."
"Are you ready to take on a variety of tests that will challenge you to the fullest?"
"Then set your sights on the very top of these waterfalls. There you will find the Royal Seed!"
Prince Florian: "Uh, w-wait! Could I just skip the trials and take the Royal Seed, please?"
Master Poplin: "Ha ha! Sorry, rules are rules, even for our prince!"
"Only those who overcome the trials can claim the Royal Seed."
"I will give you something to help you along the way and will await you farther up these falls. With that..."
"POOF!"

Master Poplin disappears.

Talking Flower: "I believe in you!"

The heroes receive a Wonder Seed from the chest.

After Master Poplin's House

Prince Florian: "It looks like we're going to have to pass all these trials and reach the top..."
"Let's be sure to pick out the best badge for the job, OK?"
"Of course, if you ever think we need to change badges, just call me with R Button!"

Poplin Shop

Ambient:

Poplin Shop: "Trials ahead..."

Interaction:

Poplin Shop: "Looking to tackle some tricky trials? Lucky you came to the Poplin Shop, where we sell everything!"

The Hoppycat Trial: Hop, Hop, and Awaaay

After clearing the course, Master Poplin appears on the world map:

Master Poplin: "So many spiky spikes, yet so little fear. You possess great courage..."
"POOF!"

The Anglefish Trial: Ready, Aim, Fly!

After clearing the course, Master Poplin appears on the world map:

Master Poplin: "You move like a leaf on the breeze... You flow like gentle water. Incredible!"
"How long did you meditate beneath a waterfall to achieve such a state?"
"POOF!"

POOF! Badge Challenge Crouching High Jump I

After clearing the course and receiving its badge, Master Poplin appears on the world map:

Master Poplin: "It took me a long time to master that secret technique! Years! And you just learned it so quickly."
"Well, you will not find the next challenge so easy, I believe!"
"POOF!"

The Midway Trial: Hop to It

After clearing the course, Master Poplin appears on the world map:

Master Poplin: "So you managed to overcome that trial? Maybe you do have what it takes..."
"The trials ahead will test your mettle
in harder ways. Prepare yourself."
"POOF!"

The Sharp Trial: Launch to Victory

After clearing the course, Master Poplin appears on the world map:

Master Poplin: "You moved along those platforms as though you've been doing it your whole life. It was a sight to behold..."
"POOF!"

The Sugarstar Trial: Across the Night Sky

After clearing the course, Master Poplin appears on the world map:

Master Poplin: "You were able to follow their complex movements? Even I cannot move within their waves so well."
"Is the master...at risk...of proving a mere student?"
"POOF!"

The Final Trial: Zip Track Dash

At the beginning of the course, Master Poplin appears.

Master Poplin: "Now, for the final trial!"
"You will pass this test if you can find the hidden goal—the true end point!"
"Stay vigilant as you proceed. This trial demands it."
"POOF!"

After this course, Master Poplin will only appear if the wrong goal was found.

Master Poplin: "Looks like you didn't manage to get through the final trial."
"Only those who find the true end point will obtain the Royal Seed!"
"Use this 1-Up Mushroom. Keep trying, and never give up."

The player receives the 1-Up.

"POOF!"

(There also seems to be a line that's just the "never give up" sentence.)

Royal Seed Mansion

First visit

Master Poplin: "You have done well facing the trials of Shining Falls and rising to the challenge!"
"With that final test behind you... your trials are over!"
Prince Florian: "We did it! Does that mean..."

The Master Poplin blooms.

Master Poplin: "It does! The Royal Seed is yours. You've earned it—and my respect. I have nothing more to teach you."
"But what did I really teach you? Nothing at all! Ha ha!"
Talking Flower: "Bravo!"

The Royal Seed appears. When it is collected, the game proceeds to another scene in the same location.

Narration: "And so, [character]'s party bravely overcame the trials."
"However, their journey through the Flower Kingdom is far from over."
"Was this only the first "final" trial of many? Will they be able to find the remaining Royal Seeds?"

(like usual, i'm gonna get to describing action in cutscenes later)

Talking Flower: "I believe in you!"

Second visit

Master Poplin: "Oh? You're back? I didn't expect that!"
"Perhaps you wish to take on even more challenging trials? Is that it?"
"Well then! I will open a legendary, secret path for you. Enjoy!"
"POOF!"
Talking Flower: "And he's...gone again."
"Where could he be?"

This reveals the path to the Special World on the world map.

Propeller Flower

Prince Florian: "Let's use a Propeller Flower to go back to the Petal Isles!"
"I know the shimmering scenery is real pretty, but don't forget to hold on tight."

Petal Isles, third section

Using the third Royal Seed

After returning from Shining Falls, the player's character uses the third Royal Seed without comment. Again, it sucks in one of the Cloud Piranhas, leaving only three.

Castle Bowser: "Hey, you pests!"
"Stop attacking my sweet, defenseless Cloud Piranhas!"
"Grrr. Don't mistake my anguish for defeat! Just listen to this!"

Castle Bowser focuses and charges up Wonder power, accompanied by the same theme later used for the Wonder Bowser battle.

"Heh heh heh. Preparations for the big—no, the huge—Wonder are still on track!"
"Why don't you knock off all this fighting-back stuff and just look forward to it?"
"It's going to be positively captivating!"
"Gwahahaha!"

Back to the heroes.

Prince Florian: "That doesn't sound good at all. What could he be planning?"
"We have to hurry and keep collecting Royal Seeds. The sooner we get them all, the sooner we reach Bowser!"
"Let's see... There are three more Royal Seeds to go."

A map of the Petal Isles appears, with the gates to the three worlds Florian mentions highlighted.

"They're likely in the Sunbaked Desert, Fungi Mines...and Deep Magma Bog."
"If you want to check where they are on the Kingdom Map, first press L Button, then press X Button."
"Where should we go first? Why don't you choose!"

The camera pans to each of the three gates' locations, in the order they were mentioned. The path to Jewel-Block Cave reveals itself.

Poplin Shop

Ambient:

Poplin Shop: "On to the desert?"

Interaction:

Poplin Shop: "Welcome to the Poplin Shop, where we sell everything! You can prepare for a trip to the Sunbaked Desert here."

Sunbaked Desert

First entry

The scene opens on Bowser Jr. in front of Sunbaked Desert Palace.

Bowser Jr.: "The Sunbaked Desert is so dry and...deserty. I'm gonna take all the water for myself!"
"Everyone else is gonna be soooo thirsty but not ME!"

Bowser Jr. jumps into the palace. The camera pans across the area to the world's entrance. A banner showing "W4 Sunbaked Desert" appears.

Prince Florian: "So, this is the Sunbaked Desert. There's white sand everywhere—it makes all the dunes look so bright!"

A map of the Sunbaked Desert appears.

"I think the palace here will have another Royal Seed."
"Phew! It's really hot, but let's keep going as best we can. And press L Button if you need the map!"

Sunbaked Desert House

The player starts outside the actual Poplin House here, in a sandy area with a Talking Flower.

Talking Flower: "It's sooo hot..."

"when splashed with water; can only be heard post-Sunbaked Desert"

"Refreshing!"

Heading to the right leads inside the actual house.

Prince Florian: "Aaah... I'm so thirsty!"
"Where's all the water?"
Poplin: "Oh, my prince! I'm sorry to say that I have none to offer you."
"An awful scoundrel has come to the Sunbaked Desert and stolen almost every drop of our water."
"Help us, please!"
"You've got to get our water back... I'll even give you a Wonder Seed to help you on your way."
Prince Florian: "What a horrible situation!"
"Let's hurry to the palace and do what we can, before all the Poplins in the desert wilt!"

The heroes receive a Wonder Seed from the chest.

Oasis Poplin

Poplin: "Urgh..."

Poplin: "Prince!"
"This oasis has the very last of the water left in the Sunbaked Desert!"

Pan to the palace.

"There used to be a lot of water around the palace, but..."
"That was before that kid stole it all!"

Pan back to the Poplin.

"I'll keep an eye on the oasis. But please! Take back our palace!"

Poplin Shop #1

Poplin Shop: "Perfect for sand!"

Poplin Shop: "Here at the Poplin Shop, we sell everything! The Timed High Jump Badge is perfect for desert treks. Pick one up!"

Strange thing Poplin

Poplin: "Hey, hey!"

Poplin: "What is this thing here?"
"It's strange, all right, and there are two more of these aside from this one!"
"I've been puzzling over what it's all about for a while!"

Captain Toad encounter

Captain Toad: "These pipes..."

Captain Toad: "Quite the surprising place to run into someone, huh?"
(the line for first time probably)
"I entered a pipe in search of treasure and ended up here!"
"It's strange how pipes connect to so many different places... You know?"
"Once I'm in one, I never come out where I think I will..."
"Anyway! I found 50 flower coins!"
"You can have them for your adventure. Now, go get 'em!"

Poplin in the shade

Poplin: "So hot..."

Poplin: "Oh! I heard the news!"
"You're here to help us, right?"
"Then you should know that there are lots of secrets hidden throughout the Sunbaked Desert."
"They might be deep in the sand or maybe in buildings. Try looking for them all!"
"I'd help you look, but I'd wilt away."
"I'll have to wish the best for you... from right here."

Ninji Jump Party

after

Prince Florian: "One, two, three, JUMP! You really got into the beat."
"We received this Rhythm Jump Badge as a prize too!"
"Want me to wear it?"

Poplin Shop #2

Poplin Shop: "Shhh..."

Poplin Shop: "Hehehe... Don't tell anyone, but...we really love Wonder Seeds at this Poplin Shop!"

Poplin #4

Poplin: "It's horrible..."

Poplin: "Have you seen what's happened to our palace?"

Pan to the palace.

"Ever since that kid got here, I've been too scared to get close."
"It used to be surrounded by so much pleasant water too."
"I'd spend the day there chatting with friends until my petals whirled! But now..."

Pan back to the Poplin.

"*sigh*"
"I'm staying put here until that kid goes away."

Color-Switch Dungeon

After completing the level:

Prince Florian: "We did it! We made it through the dungeon!"
"This desert really has its share of mysteries and secrets..."
"Oh! Speaking of secrets!"
"I heard that there's a badge hidden somewhere in the desert that'll really get your feet moving!"

Poplin #5

Bridge-repairing Poplin

Poplin: "Ugh, the bridge..."

Poplin: "I'd fix this bridge, but I'm all wilted. I don't have any energy..."
"Oh, what? You'll share some of your flower coins with me?"

Choices: "Take these!" "Not now."

(Like the rock-breaking Poplin from earlier, there's dialogue for denying, and for accepting but not having enough. Doing it later.)

Successfully paying:

Poplin: "Oooh! With all of these, I can fix the bridge, no problem!"
"Now I'll get this done, done, DONE!"

"All right. Fixed! It won't break again, so you can cross safely!"

Fixed ambient:

Poplin: "Good as new!"

Captain Toad encounter #2

Captain Toad: "How'd I get here?"

Captain Toad: "Quite the surprising place to run into someone, huh?" (and so forth...)
"I don't even know how I ended up here in this creepy place..."
"Not that I'm s-s-scared or anything!A captain knows no fear!"
"Right?"
"Oh yeah! This is for you. I found 50 flower coins."
"I hope it helps you on your adventure! Good luck out there, champ!"

Poplin #6

Poplin: "One, two, three, jump!"

This guy has some particularly varying dialogue based on the status of the Ninji thing, but I'll just write what's in the video I'm looking at.

Poplin: "Oh! Does this mean the bridge is fixed?"
"I'm blooming with happiness! Now I can go see the Ninji dancers."
"You know about it already? The whole spectacle that's under the hill behind the oasis?"
"Oh! Looks like you got yourself a Rhythm Jump Badge too!"
"How nice! I haven't earned mine yet."
"I need more jumping practice!"

Sunbaked Desert Palace

Entrance

On the course's loading screen, Florian gives a reminder:

Prince Florian: "Let's work together to get the water back! Press R Button if you want to change the badge we're using!"

There is a single Talking Flower at the start of the course:

Talking Flower: "You're not going in there, are you?"

Bowser Jr.

Normally, Bowser Jr. says this before battle:

Bowser Jr.: "Ugh! You again?!"
"This pool party was way more fun before YOU showed up!"
"Well, whatever. Pretty soon a big, bad Wonder is gonna happen. Then the world will belong to Dad!"
"So now's a pretty good time for you to give up. And if you won't, I'll make you!"

But if the player is using the Invisibility badge:

Bowser Jr.: "What's going on? Where are those bubbles coming from?"
"Argh! It's just the prince and his friend again. Don't go pranking me like that!"
"Anyway, Dad's big, bad Wonder is gonna be ready soon, and I can't wait!"
"So I'm making sure you stay outta our way!"

End of Sunbaked Desert

Narration: "And so, [character]'s party returned the Sunbaked Desert's stolen water."

And then it branches based on the order you do the worlds... here's just one until I get to the second phase.

"With the fourth Royal Seed recovered, where will they go next?"
"Will they head for the mysterious ruins in the Fungi Mines? Or the molten pools of Deep Magma Bog?"
"[character]'s party adventures onward to stop Bowser's evil plans!"

this other normal stuff

Talking Flower: "Good luck!"

Propeller Flower

Prince Florian: "Let's use a Propeller Flower to return to the Petal Isles!"
"It's pretty windy, so careful not to get sand in your eyes!"

Okay wait

The non-linearity makes me unsure how to organize all this. Maybe a section for everything you can do in Petal Isles without entering world 4 thru 6, then one with the Royal Seed cutscenes and whatever else happens after beating those worlds?

Let's just slap this here:

Prince Florian: "Hooray! Getting this makes all that desert heat worth it!"
"We're not done yet though! We need to find the next Royal Seed so we can send Bowser packing!"

And this, from petal isles battleship:

Prince Florian: "It came out of nowhere! Ugh... Just remember that you can press R Button if you want to change the badge we're using."

Fungi Mines

First entry

The scene opens on four Poplins with pickaxes descending into the mines. The camera pans to the world's entrance, and a banner displaying "W5 Fungi Mines" appears.

Prince Florian: "We found our way to the Fungi Mines!"
"I know there's a Royal Seed around here somewhere...
(A map of the Fungi Mines appears.)
"But I can't remember where it is, and the map isn't much help."
"Let's find a Poplin and see if they've got any ideas."

Loyal Poplin's House

Prince Florian: "Hmm. Nobody's home..."
"Oh, a note! Let's see what it says."
Note: "Welcome to the Fungi Mines, where it's fun to mine, and the happy ring of our pickaxes sounds like a party!"
"Or...that's what it's normally like here."
"But something awful happened. Our work has come to a stop."
"I've gone off to see what I can do about all of this."
"If you can, please come help me."
"Take the Wonder Seed here, and then head to the bridge. Please! -Loyal Poplin"
Prince Florian: "Oh dear. That sounds serious!"
"Let's grab the Wonder Seed and head to the bridge!"
Talking Flower: "Got the place all to myself."
"It's kinda lonely..."

There's a copy of the note's text by itself. If you reenter the place before clearing it up, I'm guessing?

Loyal Poplin talking, spot 1

He only appears after visit house.

Loyal Poplin: "Hmmm..."

Loyal Poplin: "What should I do..."
"Oh! You have my Wonder Seed!"
"You must have read the note I left at home. Please tell me that you've come to help!"
"You see, my friends went deep into the mines and haven't returned."
"They went deeper than we normally go, because they were trying to get a Royal Seed for you, Prince..."
"It's real dangerous down there. I worry that if I don't reach them soon, then..."
Prince Florian: "What? They put themselves in danger trying to help save our kingdom..."
"I couldn't stand to see them get hurt. We'll find them!"
Loyal Poplin: "Th-thank you, Prince!"
"I'll need to fix this bridge first. Could you spare some flower coins?"

Choices: "Here you go!" "I can't..."

"Thank you! This is exactly what I need to get the bridge fixed!"
"All right, let's go!"

"All fixed up."
"Oh, I almost forgot. I'd like to give you something important!"
"It's a handy tool called the Sensor Badge."
"I'm sure that you'll find it useful!"

The player character poses in celebration.

Prince Florian: "Oh, the Sensor Badge! That one senses things we want to find, right?"
"Like Wonder Flowers! And other special things aside from that!"
"Should we try using it now?"

Choices: "Sure." "Not right now."

Loyal Poplin: "All set? Then let's get rescuing!"

Loyal Poplin talking, spot 2

Loyal Poplin: "Heeeey!"

Loyal Poplin: "Look at this!"
(The camera pans down to where An Uncharted Area: Wubba Ruins is.)
"My friends made their descent here."
"They must be in the deepest area, beyond the three ruins!"
"It looks like the way through is blocked..."
(The camera pans back up.)
"By the way, it's easy to get lost as you make your own descent."
"So I'll check up on you along the way, just in case you get lost."

Poplin Shop

Poplin Shop: "Stop on by!"

Poplin Shop: "Thanks for coming to the Poplin Shop, where we sell everything! You're sure to dig up something good here!"

Loyal Poplin after Wubba Ruins

Loyal Poplin: "Heeeey!"

branching dialogue, geting to it later, blah blah...

Loyal Poplin: "There you are!"
"Incredible! You found the way through that place on your first visit!"
"I usually get lost..."
"So, it looks like you've discovered the way forward."
"I'll catch up with you at the next ruins!"
"Oh, that's right!"
"I got this 1-Up Mushroom while working in the mines earlier."
"Please, take it. I'm sure it will help!"

Loyal Poplin after Swaying Ruins

Uh, I'm gonna have to do some consolidating later.

Loyal Poplin: "Heeeey!"

Loyal Poplin: "There you are!"
"Incredible! You found the way through that place on your first visit!"
"I usually get lost..."
"So, it looks like you've discovered the way forward. The last of the ruins should be up ahead."
"Oh, that's right!"
"I got this 1-Up Mushroom while working in the mines earlier."
"Please, take it. I'm sure it will help!"

Beginning of Poison Ruins

Loyal Poplin: "We finally made it all the way down here! I can't thank you enough for all your help."
"I hope everyone's still OK..."
"We need to be careful here. These are the last ruins, and they could be really dangerous."

After Poison Ruins

Here that playthru I'm looking at doesn't find the right exit first try.

Loyal Poplin: "Heeeey!"

Loyal Poplin: "Looks like you've wound up back where you started."
"But I suspect from my years working down here that there's another exit in Poison Ruins."
"What this situation calls for is using that Sensor Badge I gave you!"
"Oh, that's right!"
"I got this 1-Up Mushroom while working in the mines earlier."
"Please, take it. I'm sure it will help!"

Second time's the charm:

Loyal Poplin: "Fantastic! You discovered the way through that place."
"Now we can finally reach my friends!"
"Thank you for everything you've done to get this far. Let's find them!"

Operation Poplin Rescue

First visit

Talking Flower: "*gasp*"
"Everyone!"
"Someone's here to save you!"

Poplin: "Whoa!"
"Yay! We've been rescued!"
"We wanted to help you save the kingdom, Prince, so we searched everywhere for a Royal Seed!"
"And we found one! Hopefully you can get rid of that bad guy with it!"
Prince Florian: "Wow! You came all the way down here to help me!"
"I feel so thankful they found one for us. Let's take it!"

royal seed time

Loyal Poplin: "All right, everyone! Let's head home!"

Narration: "And so, [character]]'s party saved the Fungi Mines from a dire fate."

and den dere's that stuff that changes depending on the order you play things

"With the fifth Royal Seed in hand, there is only one left to recover..."
"The final Royal Seed is said to be among the molten pools of Deep Magma Bog."
"Good luck, Your Highness, and good luck, [character]. You must meet this challenge!"
"Save the Flower Kingdom—and the world—from Bowser's evil plans!"
Talking Flower: "The adventure continues!"

Propeller Flower

Prince Florian: "All right, let's return to the Petal Isles!"
"It's a quick ascent, so your ears might pop..."

Another section I'm just slapping stuff in

Prince Florian: "Hooray! Those Poplins in the mines were really, really helpful!"
"We can't stop now!"
"Let's hurry and track down the next Royal Seed!"

Wiggler Race Spelunking!

florian suggests badges on loss

Prince Florian: "We did it! We won the race!"
"And Wiggler even celebrated our victory by giving us a Wonder Seed."
"Rivals turned friends... Racing is amazing!"

Deep Magma Bog

First entry

The scene opens on Bowser Jr. in front of Deep Magma Bog Palace.

Bowser Jr.: "Heh heh heh! Look at all this MAGMA. This place is so fun!"
"I bet Dad's getting bored of sitting around building up Wonder power..."
"Maybe I can make the magma go boom, kinda like fireworks... Then he wouldn't be so bored!"

Bowser Jr. jumps into the palace. The camera pans left then up to reach the entrance of the world. A banner showing "W6 Deep Magma Bog" appears.

Prince Florian: "We've made it to Deep Magma Bog!"
(A map of Deep Magma Bog appears.)
"This underground bog goes much deeper than you'd think, and the magma spreads everywhere."
"There are Poplins throughout the bog who study the conditions in this incredible place."
(The map closes.)
"Let's go to the nearest observatory and see if they know anything about the Royal Seed here!"

Deep Magma Bog Observatory #1

The course starts outside the Poplin House.

Talking Flower: "All guests are required to pull that [[handle (Super Mario Bros. Wonder)|]]."

the handle raises the blocks. idk but it looks like you could jump up that high without the handle

Talking Flower: "Help! Help!"
Poplin: "Arrgh! We need your help, Prince!"
"Strange things have started to happen in Deep Magma Bog ever since someone attacked the palace here."
"The magma is getting hotter and hotter..."
"And the bog's ivy is feeding off the heat—growing out of control, getting scragglier and scragglier!"
"We're in serious danger!"
Prince Florian: "That darn Bowser Jr. must be causing more trouble!"
"And I bet the Royal Seed is inside the palace with him."
Poplin: "Please, take back our palace, Prince, and save Deep Magma Bog!"
"And here's a Wonder Seed too. I hope it brings you luck!"

guess what they get the seed

Rock-breaking Poplin

Poplin: "Phew..."

Poplin: "Ugh... I can't reach my friend because this boulder is blocking the way."
"Normally I'd smash it to pieces, but I'm so dried out right now I'd probably hurt myself trying."
"If only I had some flower coins... That would perk me up in no time."

Choices: "Here you go!" "Good luck..."

"Oh-hohoho yesss! I can feel my power blooming 10 times over! This is just what I needed. And now..."
"HRRRRAAAAAAH!"

"Aaaand the power's gone. I'm back to being all dried out..."
"At least the boulder is kaput. I can probably get in touch with my friend now. Phew... It's so hot..."

Poplin: "I did it..."

Deep Magma Bog Observatory #2

Poplin: "Prince! I'm amazed you made it through all the ivy! Can you believe how super-scraggly it's gotten?"
Prince Florian: "It's scraggly, all right..."
"We could barely see through all that stuff—and almost got lost."
Poplin: "The magma isn't normal... The ivy is scraggly... It's all very strange."
"I found something tangled up in the ivy though. You can have it."
"Please, do something!"
Talking Flower: "Scraggly..."

Bridge-repairing Poplin

Poplin: "This poor bridge..."

Poplin: "I'd like to head to the other side, but the heat from all the magma made the bridge collapse!"
"Normally I could fix that in no time, but the heat is...so much... I feel like my fixing skills have evaporated."

Choices: "Here ya go! See ya later."

"There we go! I'm blooming and ready to work! There's no gap I can't bridge! Just give me a hot second here..."
"Ka-pow!"

"All right! I'd say this bridge is even sturdier than it was before!"

Poplin: "All fixed!"

Rock-breaking Poplin

Poplin: "So...drained..."

Poplin: "There's a boulder blocking the way to the palace shortcut..."
"I want to smash it to pieces and clear the way for my friends, but it's so hot here that I just feel drained..."

Choices: "Take these!" "Another time..."

"Oh, thank you! I feel so STRONG! And cool too!"
"I'm in full bloom! With this power, no boulder can stand in my way! HRRRAAH!"

"Yaaay! This shortcut connects to the palace! Please, go ahead and use it!"

Poplin: "Yaaay!"

Deep Magma Bog Observatory #4

wait, then where was #3?

Poplin: "I've been keeping a close eye on the magma around here, and I've got bad news: it's been rising!"
"Please take back the palace before things get much worse! Here, this Wonder Seed should help!"
Talking Flower: "We entrust it to you."

i looked and found some rare dialogue for receiving the Wonder Seed only after clearing the world

Poplin Shop

Poplin Shop: "Attract coins!"

Poplin Shop: "Gather coins with the Coin Magnet Badge. Get one here at the Poplin Shop, where we sell everything!"

Deep Magma Bog Flying Battleship

Prince Florian: "A battleship? Here?! Ugh... Anyway, press R Button if you want to change badges, all right?"

Deep Magma Bog Observatory #3

ah, here it is

Poplin: "I had a burning desire to take back the palace all by myself, but things are too hot for me to handle."
"It is so dangerous out there. I don't know how you do it..."
"Oh, I managed to get my hands on this though. You should take it, Prince!"
Talking Flower: "I believe in you!"

Rock-breaking Poplin

Poplin: "The shortcut..."

Poplin: "I just came down here from one of the observatories up above when I noticed..."
"the shortcut that goes back up is blocked!"
"With these weak little arms, there's no way I can bust this boulder."

Choices: "Take these!" "Maybe later..."

"Whoa, what?! I...I'm overflowing with strength! I feel like my biceps are blooming!"
"Hhhh-yah!"

"Take that, rock! And now the shortcut is open! It'll take you to the palace!"

Poplin: "Thank you!"

Deep Magma Bog Palace

Entrance

On the course's loading screen, Florian gives a reminder:

Prince Florian: "I'll do my best to help save Deep Magma Bog. Press R Button if you want to change the badge we're using, OK?"

There is a single Talking Flower at the start of the course:

Talking Flower: "You got this!"

Bowser Jr.

Normally, Bowser Jr. says this before battle:

Bowser Jr.: "I'm tired of playing with you!"
"Dad's big, bad Wonder is gonna be way more fun than you've ever been."
"So I'm not gonna let you get to him!"

But if the player is using the Invisibility badge:

Bowser Jr.: "I feel like someone's nearby... I wonder if it's a ghost!"
"Hmph! Ghosts don't scare me!"
"Grumpy Dad is way scarier than silly little ghosts!" (There are slight pauses between the last four words.)
"Well, if you're a ghost, I'm still gonna beat you up!"

End of Deep Magma Bog

(everything i said previously about these scenes)

Narration: "And so, [charater]'s party saved Deep Magma Bog."

"With the last Royal Seed in hand, the final confrontation in their adventure draws close!"
"Will they succeed in stopping Bowser's evil plans?"
"Will they save the Flower Kingdom...and the whole world?"

they fall on their butts, if it's not too informal to put it that way

Talking Flower: "This place is intense..."

Propeller Flower

Prince Florian: "Well, it's time to head back to the Petal Isles again."
"It's scorching hot here, so let's try not to get singed on our way out!"

Finale i guess

royal seed time

Prince Florian: "We did it! We really did it!"
"Now to face Bowser..."

The ground rumbles.

"What was that?! Something's...wrong..."

Castle Bowser focuses and charges up Wonder power, the same way he did when three Royal Seeds were collected.

Castle Bowser: "Gwahahaha!"
"TOO LATE!"
"I've already finished preparations for the huge...no, the amazing Wonder!"
"Curious what I've got planned next, aren't you?"
"I'll give you a sneak preview. You're lucky I'm so generous..."
"All you have to do is muster up the courage to make it to my castle!"

A Bowser-themed platform with a Propeller Flower pad forms out of dark smoke clouds.

Prince Florian: "Ugh, I wasn't expecting anything like that."
"I don't like how confident Bowser sounds—like it's way too late to stop him..."
"But I bet we still have a chance! Let's head for the castle!"

Before Missile Meg Mayhem

Prince Florian: "The Flower Castle... Bowser has twisted it into something even more monstrous than I thought!"

Castle Bowser: "Gwahahaha!"
"Well, look who it is!"
"You must be really excited to see the amazing—no, the EPIC—Wonder I'm preparing!"
"...You'll have to wait a bit longer though. Perfection takes time!"
"How about you just enjoy the opening acts my army has ready for you?"
"That's your cue, Missile Megs! Get out there, and show them how dangerous a show can be!"

Prince Florian: "This really is going to get a LOT more dangerous, isn't it... But we have no choice."
"We can do this! We can take on anything that Bowser throws at us. It's time to stop his rampage!"

Before High-Voltage Gauntlet

Castle Bowser: "Gwahahaha!"
"Did you enjoy my army's hospitality?"
"Well, that's just the beginning!"
"This next performance is really amazing. You'll be SHOCKED at how good it is!"
"Gwahah, enough preamble. Prepare yourself for a dazzling light show..."
"It's time for the High-Voltage Gauntlet!"

Before Evade the Seeker Bullet Bills!

Castle Bowser: "Ready to take a break?"
"Gwahahaha!"
"Too bad! I banned intermissions in my shows!"
"And don't you dare try to sneak out! You won't want to miss this next performance..."
"After all, these performers will be trying their hardest not to miss YOU!"
"Hit it—and them—Seeker Bullet Bills!"

Before KnuckleFest Bowser's Blazing Beats

Castle Bowser: "Not gonna lie, I'm a little impressed you've made it all the way here."
"Impressed and GLAD! It means I get to hit you with the greatest show of all time..."
"I mean that literally. I'm gonna hit you now. Get ready for the most amazing, groundbreaking show ever produced!"
"It's time to get this KnuckleFest started!"
"Gwahahaha!"

The Final Battle! Bowser's Rage Stage

Before

Castle Bowser: "Oh, you made it through the KnuckleFest. Impressive!"
"Don't look so happy. That was just the opening act!"
"The rockin' beat of the main event is going to echo across the world... No, throughout the universe!"
"No one will be able to resist it. Heads will bob. Feet will tap. They won't be able to stop. A truly captive audience!"
"And now it's time for the epic—yes, the EPIC—Wonder I've been preparing! Feast your eyes on..."
"BOWSER'S RAGE STAGE!" (There are slight pauses between each word.)
"Gwahahaha!"
"...All audience members, please make your way to the main stage."

Loading screen

Prince Florian: "We've finally made it! It's time to put a stop to Bowser's evil plans!"

Level start

this is another one of the more complicated cutscenes i don't feel like describing right now

visible

Bowser Jr.: "Hahaha-HA! You made it here, huh? Not that it matters. I'm done playing with you!"
"I've got a front-row ticket to Dad's big show."

invisible

Bowser Jr.: "Huh? Why can't I see you!"
"Well, it doesn't matter where you hide."
"I've got a front-row ticket to Dad's big finale..."

regardless

"And you're not gonna ruin that for me! Now you get to see how big and bad I REALLY am!"
"Time for my super-duper extra-cool Wonder!"

the "uh-oh" is just a voice clip but it is absolutely one of the things i should mention

Wonder Bowser

there's no label on the dialogue here. i'm gonna write "Wonder Bowser", but this whole thing is weird

visible

Wonder Bowser: "Gwahaha..."

invisible

Wonder Bowser: "Gwahaha... Did you really think that badge would fool me?! I see you!"

not peach

"Ahem. Thank you all for coming..."
"SORRY FOR THE WAIT!"

peach

"Ahem. Thank you all for coming. Especially you..."
"MY BELOVED!"

end of varying dialogue

"Are you ready to lose yourself in the sweet beat?!"
"This finale will make the entire universe my captive audience!"
"BOWSER'S RAGE STAGE!" (There are slight pauses between each word.)
"HIT IT!"

Ending

not describing most of it just yet

Talking Flower: "And we all lived happily ever after."

The screen fades out and "The End" appears.

"Come back again sometime, yeah?"

"The End" fades out. The player character reappears at the very beginning of Pipe-Rock Plateau.

Message: "Congrats on beating the game! You've earned a medal! That makes [number]!"
"The courses you haven't found yet are now displayed as ? on the Courses screen."
"The Poplin Shop has new badges for sale!"
Prince Florian: "Oh! Being here with you reminds me of when we set off on our journey!"
"We traveled to so many places and collected a lot of Wonder Seeds."
"But if you think there are more Wonder Seeds or 10-flower coins that we haven't found yet..."
"I'd be delighted to keep collecting them with you!"
