The Egg Bouncer (also known as Flying Eggman) is a late boss in Sonic the Hedgehog 2, appearing as a variation of Dr. Eggman's Egg Mobile surrounded by a ring of egg-shaped pods that break off and "hatch" into a decoy of Dr. Eggman one at a time when the machine is attacked, as well as a laser attachment on the front it only fires after it loses all its pods. It crosses over into the Super Mario franchise in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 as the last boss of Tokyo Sky Flight, being second or third depending on whether or not Mecha Sonic was fought. Dr. Eggman rides a giant version with his normal Egg Mobile nested inside. It flies around the screen while slowly revolving the pods in a wide orbit around it. By hitting the pods with a loop's shockwave, they can be forced into "hatching," after which the decoys can be destroyed with one shot while the Egg Bouncer is open to be attacked. Unlike the original version of the fight, attacking the machine itself does not remove the pods, multiple pods can be removed at once, and the machine can restore destroyed pods, which it does in groups of four. After taking enough damage, it begins to fire lasers while continuing to restore the pods. The lasers can fire at multiple angles, and ricochet around the arena several times before leaving. After the health bar has been depleted, the giant Egg Bouncer is destroyed and Dr. Eggman escapes in his normal-sized Egg Mobile.
