Gameplay[edit]

The results of the final dive for the 10M Platform event in Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020
The judges give five perfect 10s for Sonic after the final dive.

Before a dive, players have a choice for which one to attempt. After selecting one, players must press all of the buttons to successfully perform it. If a wrong button is pressed, the character will lose focus and receive low scores from the judges. If all inputs are correct, additional buttons will appear for a chance to increase the multiplier, allowing for even more points. If the player provides the correct inputs for the bonuses, they will receive 5 additional points as a Perfect Bonus. If a wrong bonus command is entered, then the character will not have any more chances, but will not lose focus. There are four dives to perform. At the start of the fourth dive, the player has an option to choose a random dive with the inputs hidden. Depending on how well players do during a dive will determine the scores from the judges after each dive. After the fourth dive, the player with the best score from a single dive wins.

Below is a list of all the possible inputs:

In addition to the above, there may also be clockwise or counterclockwise rotations of Control Stick.
