Trace Cadets is a 4-Player and Duel minigame that appears in Mario Party DS. Its name is a pun on "space cadets," which is a term used for people with a flighty, inattentive personality.

Gameplay[edit]

A large grid of Tetromino-like pieces appears on four individual grids, and players must draw lines around the perimeter of the shapes. Whoever fills out their square first wins. If no one fills out their square within five minutes, the minigame ends in a tie.

Ending[edit]

If the minigame ends after at least one player fills out their square, the spotlight shines on the winner's/winners' square(s), and the winner(s) show(s) their winning mugshot(s) as the losing player(s) show(s) their losing mugshot(s). If it ends in a tie, all players show their losing mugshots while the top picture dims.

Controls[edit]

  • Stylus – Draw a shape

In-game text[edit]

  • Rules"Build upon your corner by tracing the outlines of any bordering shapes. Here's a complication: you must sketch each shape without lifting your stylus."
  • Tips"You can't trace just any shape on your field. The only pieces you can trace are those that are outlined in your character's color."
