Dust Buddies is a 4-Player and Duel minigame appearing in Mario Party DS. Its name is a pun on "dust bunnies."

Introduction[edit]

The game starts with the two or four competitors walking down a hallway when a vacuum cleaner comes. The competitors then start running away from the incoming vacuum.

Gameplay[edit]

Players must run away from the vacuum cleaner in the hallway to avoid getting sucked up while dodging obstacles, such as fluffs, balls, filmstrips, ribbons, and buttons, along the way. The layout of these obstacles is random each game, and they have varying effects:

  • Filmstrips, ribbons, and an envelope (which is always present at the end) pull players standing on them into the vacuum.
  • Fluffs slow down players and prevent them from jumping.
  • Buttons and balls trip and stun players that run into them. Balls also rebound at a random angle upon hitting the vacuum cleaner.

The last player standing, or the players who cross the finish line, is the winner. If all the players get sucked up by the vacuum cleaner, the minigame is considered a tie.

Ending[edit]

All characters are on top of a dresser. Winners then do their victory dances while losers do their losing poses.

Controls[edit]

  • +Control Pad – Move
  • A Button – Jump

In-game text[edit]

  • Rules"Avoid getting sucked up by the vacuum until you reach the finish, or just be the last one standing."
  • Tips"Sidestep the buttons and balls. Be careful when you step on ribbons or film strips, because the vacuum will quickly suck those up."
