Salvo The Slime's Castle is the eighth and last required level to access World 2 in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island and Yoshi's Island: Super Mario Advance 3. It also introduces Lemon Drops, Spray Fish, and Bandits (as enemies). It also features several never-seen-before challenges, such as spiked spotted platforms that can be turned around. This level's playable Yoshi is the blue Yoshi.
Overview
The player starts off in a room with several platforms that spin if stood on, a paddle wheel and some Lava Bubbles. The final spinning platform can be used to get to another part of the room that has Red Coins and a Special Flower. At the end of the room is a Warp Pipe.

Salvo the Slime's Castle is the eight and last required level to access to World Two  in the game Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. This is the first level in which the player gets to control Blue Yoshi. It also introduces Lemon Drops, Spray Fish and Bandits (as enemies). It also features several never-seen-before challenges, such as Spiked Platforms that can be turned around.
In the next room, there is a Spray Fish and a liquid lift that leads to two rooms, the room on the left contains another Special Flower and the room on the right contains Red Coins, a Winged Cloud and the Middle Ring. At the bottom is a Warp Pipe that spawns Shy-Guys and the entrance to the next room. In the Game Boy Advance remake, there is another room that only contains the Warp Pipe for Shy-Guys to spawn.

As the level starts, the first thing the player will notice is a new obstacle that looks like a spinning, slopped platform. Yoshi has to jump on it and grab the coins above, and will present little trouble. Next is a familiar spinning wheel of platforms. Only the left-most coins are red, although collecting the two remaining ones should be no problem. Forward is another slope, except this time falling will mean losing a life. The player should grab the coins floating above and continue to some self-spinning purple platforms, avoiding the Podoboos and the lava. Next is yet another slope, this time with lots of coins floating. Yoshi should try to grab the coins and jump to the wooden platform to the left to obtain a Special Flower and a single red coin. After that, the player should just access the Pipe.
The next room contains several spotted platforms with spikes on them, if an egg is thrown at their arrow block or the block is hit by Yoshi, they will spin around. In the middle of the room is a pot that contains a key to the next room. At the end of the room is a Bandit, an Egg Block, and the door to the next room.

This new room will certainly be different to the player. There will be a strange, water-controlled platform, a Spray Fish and a lake with a waterfall in the background. The player, should before anything, jump on the platform (avoiding the fish's water) and grab the first, easy-to-find Special Flower. After that, he should hop on the platform again and this time Flutter Jump to the right to access a new pipe and find yet another Special Flower. Finally, and to finish off with the room, the player should flutter jump to the right to find two red coins, a Middle Ring and a ? Cloud containing five stars. If the player does not have eggs, he or she should go back to the room with the fish and enter the right-most pipe for some purple Shy Guys. Upon collecting everything and skipping the Shy Guy room, the player should enter the Pipe for a new area.
In the next room there is an spinning wheel that leads straight to a Middle Ring and the boss door.

Similar to Burt the Bashful, Salvo the Slime is a Lemon Drop transformed by Kamek's magic. As Yoshi steps into the room, a Lemon Drop drops down from the ceiling, and Kamek quickly appears in the room and transforms him into Salvo the Slime.
In this part, Flipping Platforms and Bandits are introduced to the game. First of all, the player should hit the Help Block for some information and immediately throw an egg at the green block to the right for Green Spiked Platforms to flip. Ignore the flipped green platforms and go all the way to the right for a Special Flower. There's also a Bandit here, either ignore it or jump on it a few times for some coins. Now the player should go back to where he or she found the green block and jump on the Spiked Platform. Next, he or she should have Yoshi jump to the right and throw an egg at the ? Cloud for some stars. After that, the player should go back to the green platform and jump to the other way (up) until he or she finds a Spinning Platform Wheel. Yoshi should hop on one of the platforms and follow the way until he or she finds a Red Block, which should be hit with an egg for Red Spiked Platforms to flip. After this, the player should return to the first Green Spiked Platform and jump to the right to the now safe Red Spiked Platform and collect the coins. Above will be a Spinning Platform Wheel. Yoshi should jump on any of the platforms and wait for the wheel to take him to the some wooden platforms. Obviously, Yoshi has to jump on these platforms, push the Flower Pot and collect the key that falls. Now with the key, Yoshi should just jump up, trespassing the wooden platforms and head to the right. If he continues all the way to the right without going down, he or she will obtain the last Special Flower of the level. Then the player should go back a little, get some eggs by hitting the Egg Block and hop on the Red Spiked Platforms for the last red coins; continue the way and enter the door.

This new room is quite fun and interesting. The player should notice a Yoshi-sized rotating sphere with an arrow drawing on it. Yoshi must hop on it for the sphere to take Yoshi to the direction the arrow is pointing at. If Yoshi wished to change direction, or he must do is jump, as while Yoshi is not standing on the sphere, it keeps rotating. While none of the coins in this room are red coins, the player may obtain them anyway. Next, he or she should, before going through the red door at the top, make a stop below where the door is to make contact with a Middle Ring in case Yoshi is in need of extra stars. Once that's done, the player should access the Red Door and face the new boss.

Similar to Burt the Bashful, Salvo the Slime is a gargantuan Lemon Drop transformed by Kamek's magic. As Yoshi steps into the room, the timid Lemon Drop will bounce in, and Kamek will quickly appear in the room and yell: "Hi there, cute li'l Yoshi! Does Baby Mario want to go to Bowser's Castle? I'll take him there in a hurry! Tee hee hee..." And just like in Burt's battle, Kamek will fly around and transform the Lemon Drop into Salvo the Slime.

This battle is quite easy. Yoshi must throw eggs at Salvo for him to gradually lose size by losing small Lemon Drops from his body. Yoshi can either eat or throw an egg at the Lemon Drops for them to be defeated. In order for Yoshi to get more eggs, he must eat the Lemon Drops left behind by Salvo. As Salvo gets smaller and smaller, he will become faster and bounce higher, until finally becoming so small he will implode. Literally. After that, Salvo will leave a key behind, used to access World Two.

Overview[edit]

Spray Fish in Salvo The Slime's Castle from Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
The Spray Fish can spray Yoshi with water to push him back.

The player starts off in a room with several platforms that spin if stood on, a paddle wheel and some Lava Bubbles. The final spinning platform can be used to get to another part of the room that has Red Coins and a Special Flower. At the end of the room is a Warp Pipe.

Boss battle[edit]

Obtaining the Big Key after the battle

To defeat Salvo, Yoshi must throw eggs at him which makes him gradually decrease in size by losing small Lemon Drops from his body. Yoshi can either eat or throw an egg at the Lemon Drops for them to be defeated. In order for Yoshi to get more eggs, he must eat the Lemon Drops left behind by Salvo. As Salvo gets smaller and smaller, he becomes faster and bounce higher, until finally becoming so small he implodes. After that, Salvo leaves a key behind, used to access World 2. To attack Salvo will bounce in Yoshi's direction and will try to push him into the pit of lava at the end of the room.
