Appears in Yoshi and the Mysterious Book (2026)

Jewel Bugs are a type of underground critter in Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. They are large beetles with blue jewels serving as their mandibles and elytra. They crawl along the walls of caves and in sediment while spinning their mandible.

In both Hauger Habitat and Underbit Habitat, a jewel bug is trapped inside a boulder in the sediment. When the boulder is cracked open, the jewel bug starts moving through the sediment. It can be destroyed after being hit three times by the Hauger or Underbit, revealing the discoveries "Smashed the jewel bug!" and "Even gobbled down a jewel bug!", respectively.

In Slugarang Habitat, a jewel bug can be found in the top-left cave. It can be knocked down by a Slugarang that has gained momentum. It shatters upon hitting the ground, revealing a jewel and the discovery "Diamond-hard shell smashed!". This jewel bug has a unique opalescent appearance matching the jewel that it drops.

In Spincone Habitat, a jewel bug is trapped inside a boulder in the cave. It can be destroyed after being hit three times by a spinnning Spincone, revealing the discovery "A jewel bug's worst nightmare".
