KP Koopas are Koopas who have painted their shells yellow. Only two KP Koopas are ever encountered, both in the Glitz Pit as members of the fighting team the KP Koopas. KP Koopas are no stronger than normal Koopa Troopas.
Koopas with yellow shells originally appeared in Super Mario World; the appearance of KP Koopas may be based off of these Koopas.
