Mario vs. Donkey Kong levels

The Long Way[1] is an e-Reader level in the Mario vs. Donkey Kong-e mode of Mario vs. Donkey Kong. It was distributed within a set of five e-Reader cards in an August 2004 sweepstakes from the Japanese magazine CoroCoro Comic.[2]

Overview[edit]

This is a complex level featuring Color Switches, conveyor belts, and Direction Switches. To begin, Mario must move right along the nearest conveyor belt, then perform a Handstand Double Jump or a Backflip to reach the platform above the door. There is a platform above this with a red Color Switch and Direction Switch; however, to make progress, the yellow Color Switch must be pressed. Mario can then descend the ladder next to the yellow Color Switch and navigate the level in a clockwise fashion. Back at the start of the level, a Bucket Man, yellow Color Blocks, and ropes allow Mario to gain height, although he must dodge Fireballs along the way. With the yellow Color Switch being pressed, the red Color Blocks on the right side of the level are inactive, giving access to the blue Color Switch in the bottom right corner. After pressing the blue Color Switch and the Direction Switch next to it, Mario can move back to the start, press the Direction Switch on the left, and finally move the key along the conveyor belt to unlock the door.

Enemies[edit]

Present locations[edit]

Color Location
A red present Above and slightly to the right of the door, accessible by either pressing the red Color Switch to activate the platform below it or by jumping off of the key.
A yellow present On the far right side of the level, above spikes. It can be reached simply by throwing the adjacent Garbage Can on top of the spikes.
A blue present Above the conveyor belt closest to Mario's starting position. It can be collected when the yellow Color Switch is pressed and the conveyor belt is moving to the left by throwing the key onto the right side of the conveyor belt and jumping off of it.
