In WarioWare: Get It Together!, WarioWare, Inc., creates a video game featuring microgames that contains an entire game world. Each section of the game world is themed to match the genre of the microgames that are played in that section's level. The levels are spread across two continents, which are connected by the mine cart tracks of the Remix level, and there is also a lower section of the world accessed by a Warp Pipe-like pipe that leads to some extra levels with unique rules. However, game bugs cause the game to glitch out, corrupting the levels of the game world. Further, the glitches suck the crew from the real world into the game world. Thus, the crew has to locate and defeat the game bugs to restore their game and find a way out. The game the game world is within is usually referred to as Wario's game. The game world forms the structure of WarioWare: Get It Together!'s Story mode.
While inside the game, normal levels are floating viewscreens in the game world which the crew enters to access the level. All of those levels have a cutscene that plays after entering them but before the level starts. The remix levels, All Mixed Up, Super Hard, and Thrill Ride levels, have their own unique framing using environments with the game world. They do not have pre-level cutscenes.
History[edit]
Prior to the events of WarioWare: Get It Together!, Wario is programming the game at WarioWare, Inc. However, he accidentally creates a number of game bugs that start multiplying out of control, including the Mega Bug. At the sight of the Mega Bug, Wario freaks out and throws the game console at the wall. This causes it to shut off. Wario did not fix the glitches after this occurs. At the start of WarioWare: Get It Together!, Wario shows the finished game to the crew at WarioWare, Inc., but it glitches out. Wario throws the game console into the air out of frustration. The Supreme Developer's mouth appears on the console's screen and opens. This shrinks the crew present at the game presentation down to chibi proportions and sucks them all into the game. The Supereme Developer does this because he needs help to stop the game bugs. The crew does not realize the mouth belongs to a character, and reason that the game's glitches caused them to get trapped in the game. The game console is left to land on the floor.
After they land within the game, some of them get new items and abilities. Wario gets a jetpack that allows him to fly, 18-Volt gets a disc he can throw, Dribble & Spitz get flying versions of taxi, Mona gets a flying version of her scooter, 9-Volt gets a version of his skateboard, and 5-Volt gets the ability to warp and shock, though she also has trouble staying awake. Everyone ends up in separate parts of the game world, though in most cases, this correlates to the level they designed.
Wario finds himself at his his Intro Games level but finds a game bug corrupting it. It escapes into the level, and Wario goes inside to chase it. After three microgames, Young Cricket and 18-Volt find Wario within the Intro Games level. They decide to team up to complete the microgames and catch the game bug. Once they succeed at the microgames, all four of them leave the level, and Wario attacks the game bug to defeat it. This restores the Intro Games level to normal, including the hopping nose bugs that are supposed to be around the level. With this knowledge, the crew sets out to find the rest of the crew, defeat the game bugs, and restore the game to normal. Across the first continent, they find Mona, Dribble & Spitz, Dr. Crygor, and 9-Volt, and clear their respective levels of the game bugs and their corruption. To reach the second continent, they take a mine cart in the Remix level, but before they start, they find Mike inside of the mine cart. Once on the second continent, the crew finds Kat & Ana, Jimmy T, Ashley, and Orbulon, and clear their respective levels of the game bugs and their corruption. Afterward, they reach the Remix 2.0 level, which is another mine cart ride. 5-Volt is located within the mine cart. Remix 2.0 takes the crew to the final level, Wario's Anything Goes level, but the level has been severely corrupted due to the Mega Bug. When the crew pursues the Mega Bug into the level, the level becomes so corrupted that a number of game bugs combine into the Wario Bug, which attacks the crew between microgames and after they clear the boss microgame. When the Wario Bug is defeated, everyone leaves the level. Instead of defeating the Mega Bug, Wario decides that the Mega Bug is so messy and disgusting that it is perfect for his messy and disgusting Anything Goes level, and allows it to remain in the game world as part of the Anything Goes level. This means the Wario Bug remains the boss of the level. Afterward, the crew meets The Supreme Developer, who explains that he brought them into this world and why. The Supreme Developer allows the crew safe passage out of the game world, and welcomes them back any time.
Right after leaving, the crew immediately returns because Red, Master Mantis, and Lulu are still missing. Unbeknowst to the crew, Pyoro entered the game at some point because he thought it would be fun and wanted to play with the crew. He kidnapped the three in a disguised giant poop monster form trapped them, in the All Mixed Up, Super Hard, and Thrill Ride levels, respectively. After the crew enters the game, Pyoro's disguised form appears on the screen of the console, though none of them see it. The crew asks The Supreme Developer for more information, but all can offer the crew is that they were captured by something that is not a game bug and that one of them is in the All Mixed Up level. The crew heads there and finds Red and the monster, who escapes higher into All Mixed Up. They free Red and pursue the disguised Pyoro, having to play microgames in order to go up the elevator like it did. Pyoro escapes out a window, but leaves behind a treasure chest with the Golden Beehive. The crew follows the monster to the Super Hard and Thrill Ride where similar events happen. They free the trapped crew member, Pyoro escapes and leaves a treasure chest. The treasure chest left in Super Hard has the Golden Toilet Paper Roll and the treasure chest left in Thrill Ride has the Golden Holey Mug. The latter treasure chest also contained a dare from Pyoro to combine the items, but the crew is flummoxed as to how to do that. Dr. Crygor decides to call his daughter, Penny, to help them. He does so after leaving the Thrill Ride level. In the real world, Penny flies to WarioWare, Inc. and enters the game world using her Jet Tank One, playing through the Penny's Mix level to reach the crew by helicopter. Once she arrives, she combines the golden items into the Golden Watering Can, which she uses to grow a giant beanstalk. The Golden Watering Can despawns after growing the plant. This beanstalk takes the crew up into the sky, where they meet the disguised Pyoro and challenge it to battle as a level, Showdown. The battle breaks Pyoro's disguise, and Wario flies up to challenge the revealed giant Pyoro to a battle in the sky. Once he is defeated, Pyoro explains his reasoning for coming into the game and making the challenges, tells Wario he does not have any more treasure, then joins the crew.
