Exploration Tools are customizable user interface elements in Yoshi and the Mysterious Book. They can be freely overlaid atop the screen on a 15×8 grid; the exact shape and size of each exploration tool varies. Once placed, they provide information about the current state of Yoshi and the environment.
A total of 56 exploration tools are available. Four of these are badges, which are unlocked by reaching milestones in the game. By exchanging 5 Smiley Flowers, Mr. E can invent and thus unlock one of the other 52 exploration tools.
