History[edit]

Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3[edit]

Just like the original Podoboos, they are fireballs that jump from lava, and will damage Wario upon contact. They are indestructible.

Super Mario Kodansha manga[edit]

In the Super Mario Kodansha manga, a group of Bō appear just in one panel in the first chapter of Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land 2, when Devil's Head makes his first apparition.

Super Mario-kun[edit]

In Super Mario-kun, a Bō is the chapter antagonist of the first chapter of volume 12. Depicted with feet, a large mouth, and large eyes with a thick black border (similarly to Fry Guy), the Bō is the one operating the magma flow in Stove Canyon. After Mario and Yoshi use urine and mucus to stop the lava from progressing, a Bō pops out from the magma flow. It explains that, with or without the flowing magma, Mario is doomed to fail without water. He tries to punch some water from the ground, only to find flamable petroil. With that, Bō burns the group and then creates a lava dragon. While escaping, Mario, Yoshi, and Wario find a water fountain and open it, only to be hit by boiling hot water from one side and the magma dragon from the other side, which end up encasing the three in obsidian. Bō celebrates its victory, but Mario and the others emerge from the obsidian inside a Big Block where they found the Capri Sea Pearl, an endless source of fresh water which floods the Stove Canyon and extinguishes Bō.

In the following chapter, Bō are responsible for rolling out and in the tongue of the Devil's Head robot. During the fight, the robot then spits the Bō out to burn Mario and his friends while igniting the Konotako on top of them and blow them up.
