Chicken Ducks are lazy and harmless natives of Kitchen Island in Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3. They appear as large, fat birds with metal basket on their head.

History[edit]

Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3[edit]

Chicken Ducks are often found sleeping. If Wario happens to wake one up, it does not attack; it instead flies straight upwards, running away from him. Chicken Ducks cannot harm Wario at all. When an enemy is thrown into the bird, the enemy is eaten and it flies upwards in a panic, giving Wario three 10 Gold Coins until it flies off the screen.

Super Mario Kodansha manga[edit]

In the Super Mario Kodansha manga, a Chicken Duck appears in chapter 3 of Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land 1. Wario rides it to beat Mario to the top of Mt. Teapot, only to be surprised by Minotaur's saucer.

In Daimaru Roketto's chapter in Super Mario 4-koma Daikōshin, Wario dunks a Wanderin' Goom in a Chicken Duck basket. After that, he calls Mario to challenge him to a basketball match, sure he will win after that.

Super Mario-kun[edit]

In Super Mario-kun, Chicken Ducks appears on two occasions.

In chapter 4 of volume 11, Mario ends up falling inside a Chicken Duck basket when fighting a Watch, then, together with Yoshi, they ride the bird to climb Rice Beach cliff.

In chapter 3 of volume 12, some Pirate Gooms ride a Chicken Duck to snatch small Wario and the key he swallowed away from Mario and Yoshi, as they fly to the SS Tea Cup.
