"1-Up"[1] is a brief six-note musical fanfare composed for Super Mario Bros. by Koji Kondo. It consists of the notes e g E C D G, which play whenever the player collects a 1-Up Mushroom or receives an extra life another way.

Super Mario Bros. 3
Paper Mario: Color Splash "1-Up" plays when Mario collects an 8-bit 1-Up Mushroom while in the Green Energy Plant. The sound effect for using the 1-Up Mushroom Battle Card does not change.
Paper Mario: The Origami King "1-Up" plays when Mario is revived by a 1-Up Mushroom in battle while having the Retro Soundbox equipped.

Arrangements[edit]

New Super Mario Bros.[edit]

In New Super Mario Bros., a repeating arrangement of "1-Up" is incorporated into "Minigames: Vs. Battle - Final Results," the theme that plays on the results and total points screen after completing a Vs. Battle minigame. An arrangement of "1-Up" is also incorporated into "Minigames: Game Explanation."

Paper Mario: Sticker Star[edit]

In Paper Mario: Sticker Star, an arrangement of "1-Up" plays when Mario uses the Big 1UP or Big Shiny 1UP sticker in battle.
