Image uploads

What you were doing looks like this, and it is an inconvenience for other users to fix up the template. It is simple to learn how to format it correctly. Just search for the correct category by starting with the following groups: Images Audio/video files Company images Film images Game images Merchandise images Publication images System images Television series images Website images Company media files Film media files Game media files Merchandise media files Publication media files System media files Television series media files Website media files When uploading, copy the full title of the category and insert it in square brackets into the summary text box below the {{aboutfile}} template, replacing the {{uncategorized}} template entirely. If you're using the upload function from the text editor, simply add the category link to the description. For example, files related to the game Super Mario World would use: [[Category:Super Mario World images]] or [[Category:Super Mario World media files]] Please consider the above information before uploading more files. Thanks for uploading the missing images, but keep in mind the parameters you need to fulfill when doing so. For the category, in this case it would be [[Category:Super Mario Galaxy 2 Images]]. 13:34, 30 October 2017 (EDT)

Transparency

One last thing regarding images: it's usually inadvisable to crop artwork just to make it transparent (unless, of course, the artwork's transparency is official). Game titles

Game titles are usually completely written out and italicized, even if it is already written in the same paragraph or infobox and seems redundant. Also, when reverting edits, make sure you are not reverting valid parts of edits as well. --TheFlameChomp (talk) 17:13, 30 July 2018 (EDT)

Image Gallery Preview Recent Edit Activities

Hello, I see that we've been both trying to find common ground the past few days regarding image gallery preview section candidates for certain Mario female articles (especially the Peach, Daisy, and Rosalina ones). I believe we've finally good on the ones for the Princess Daisy gallery preview section; but can you tell me why you still want this picture and this picture to remain in the gallery preview sections of the Peach and Rosalina articles respectively? Hey, I was just trying to be consistent with other characters, such as Wario and Toad having at least 6 pictures in their preview galleries. Hey, on that recent edit you did, it's not really "redundant" in this case because there weren't many promo pictures done featuring Rosalina in Mario game installments (and it's still recommended to target promo artworks of characters related to their involvement in the game installments themselves). However, I do agree that when more promo artworks of Rosalina get done for upcoming game installments (when announced by Nintendo) and when they release, the said gallery preview section for the article could use some revision for showing which pictures would best represent Rosalina for the article itself. Infobox images

It doesn't matter what's more "neutral," the rules are that the newest artwork goes inside, with the only exceptions I can think of being ones that are extremely stylized or holding an object that isn't intrinsically linked to the character. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 23:08, 9 October 2018 (EDT)

Galleries

Actually, we prefer to avoid all cases of image redundancies on a page. The "all artwork" thing only applies if the gallery is on a separate page. Otherwise, infobox images should not be in the gallery. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 20:25, 19 November 2018 (EST)

When adding images to a gallery, the entire gallery does not need to be italicized as seen here, as this often italicizes the sections after the gallery, not the gallery itself, and galleries should only be italicized in the names of games, which you already seem to be doing. Yoshi's Story

The manual actually generically identifies each Yoshi in the game generically as "Yoshi" in sections like "Yoshi's mood," "Yoshi's moves," et cetera. What I generally do is mix up the gallery with screenshots, logos, and group art, as well as character artwork as I believe that's more illustrative of an article gallery than just solo character artwork. I see you removed the enemy counts on the Scary Skeleton Goonies! article. I understand why, but I don't want this to open up a can of worms causing this to happen with other level articles. I will say though, you should give a reason other than simply "Unnecessary" when removing content or undoing edits next time, as I've noticed you've been doing this quite often. Thanks for that, though it looks like you upscaled them and uploaded them as png when they were originally jpg, which goes against policy. It's possible you accidentally saved them as png after you cropped them, but keep in mind that images should be uploaded in the format they were found in (additionally, cropping is fine of course, but upscaling them is discouraged as it only makes it blurrier). RE: Peach Gallery

Looks like that image is already there. imo, the gallery preview should be a mix of things, of artwork, sprites, and maybe screenshots. It's a preview of what you can expect, not just "The Best of Peach".

As for the infoboxes, yeah, any recent artwork that is not stylized for a specific game works. There have been discussions/proposals to make exceptions, however. 19:09, January 5, 2020 (EST)

Shadoo and the Game & Watch

Hello, I've seen your reverted response. I get where you are coming from but the Mario Bros. in the said Game & Watch title weren't really in their modern proportions and ascetics yet when the game was made of course. Obviously Nintendo wouldn't really make Shadoo give Dark Mario and Dark Luigi their old Mario Bros. styled designs since they moved on from that design since they are only in the Mario Bros. styled games and made for the purpose of the art style. This is similar between trivia of Mr. Game & Watch and the Shop Keeper from Wario Land 4 who she looks like Mr. Game & Watch but with actual eyes. As far as I know there isn't any other black silhouette clone of Mario and Luigi, especially these two forms in the Game & Watch styled Pit Of a 100 Trails. Peach and Bowser did not appear in the Game & Watch era, since they didn't debut until Super Mario Bros.. --Gamermakerguy (talk) 01:35, January 21, 2020 (EST)

Mount Duel

We generally do not have articles on simplistic Mario Party minigame competition modes like Mount Duel, and there have already been multiple successful proposals to merge such modes. Unofficial transparency

Could you explain more about File:SMG Big Pokey Artwork.png? Both my version of the image and all existing previous revisions are unofficial transparency, as they are both derived from a trading card image from http://www.enter-play.com/products/mariogalaxy_cards_01.html. Since the blank or transparent background seems essential to its use on the wiki, I thought I would attempt to make a slightly better one, more carefully cropped and with a de-noise filter. Reference errors

Be careful with citation errors next time when you're removing references, like with your WWGIT edits removing the microgame descriptions and changing the characters list. After removing a "ref name" reference with a full URL, make sure to remove every other "ref name" reference with the same name (if they're also unnecessary), otherwise it leaves errors at the bottom of the page as seen here. Reverting edits

You need to assess other users' edits more carefully, because lately you've occasionally been undoing other users' edits for poor or incorrect reasons, or little to no reason at all (e.g. saying "it's consistent with other articles" when what they were doing (ordering them chronologically) is correct; "better format" when this is clearly more convenient and less cluttered; this edit, when there's an article named "Emblem" that lists others of this type of image; and even reverting information taken directly from the game). Please try to make better judgements and review the rules (check in-game content if necessary, either through the game itself or even YouTube) before reverting edits next time, or just leave it to or ask someone else to assess them. Also I agree with Mario Jc, you do revert/change my edits a lot. I am fine with some rewording but you should not delete important info said in manga summaries (like how you deleted the line when Mario used his badge that was made out of Super Stars to deflect the bullets that the Mega Mole shot with). Or sometimes deleting stuff because it is "speculation" (like the Mega Mole miner seen in the Mario Open Golf volume of KC Mario). 4koma Manga Theater Monty Mole section

Hey, I wanted to remind you that I wanted to make each volume a single paragraph for the section and not every strip. This is how I wrote the KC Mario and Super Mario-kun sections, so it is easier to find which appearances are in which volumes. How you formatted it will make it harder to find volumes down the road so I am wondering how you feel about the original format? I feel like it is just more beneficial to group all the strips of a volume into a big section instead of mini sections for each volume (I did this for the KC Mario 4koma volume sections for Monty Mole and Mega Mole and it was just fine). Also the Wonderland story is actually a continuous narrative unlike most of the other 4koma strips. It not only had continuity, but the story even came back in the third volume. I get that most other 4koma gag manga are small one-time jokes, but you gotta understand that this one was different compared to the others, in that it actually had somewhat of a story (especially the Welcome to Wonderland in volume 1). This is done by placing two straight apostrophes (not quotation marks or curly apostrophes) on both sides of the title, or clicking on the I icon above the text box and typing out the title. Mario Movie enemies

Do you know how many species of Mario enemies/baddies are in the movie? It’s a hefty task but I was wondering if maybe you knew the total count of how many appear per scene. Also, same with power up items, though that one should be easier than the enemy count. Btw, you finally respond to reversing my removal of the previous talk message but never replying to it in the first place. Doesn’t matter at this point, but I still think you need to be more aware of when users send you messages instead of simply ignoring them. Maybe have a discussion, it might bring a solution you can both agree on.

MKT's Sunshine Tour got the YouTube video as of today

At first, the YouTube video of it was private since last July, until it was given today, look at the YouTube Nintendo Mobile. 2023 Mario Tour made the trailer on YouTube private and most of the content about 2023 Mario Tour on Twitter for removed, possibly Nintendo's fault Pierce Ng (talk)

"Fan-made elements"

Now I didn't make the renders so I can't say this for certain, but I'm preeeetty sure those effects are actually from the game, and applied to properly resemble how they look in-game. Anyway, while I don't agree with Annalisa10's tone and rude edit summary, participating in the edit war against you, we at the staff do notice that your edit summaries as well have a very passive aggressive, provocative tone to it, highlighted with frequent uses of ellipses to signify mild annoyance at reverting (hence a reason people have been acting rude back to you). In addition, if someone else disagrees, you should bring it up in their talk page than instantly revert their edits again and participate in an edit war and please curb the use of ellipses when ending your sentences, [you have already been notified of this. Friendly Question

Hello! I don't mean to be rude, but I noticed that you removed my edit on The Super Mario Bros. Movie's page about Fire Peach's hair. You said in the edit summary that she has an alternate costume in Smash Ultimate that has her hair down, but I don't see why you'd remove my edit for that reason. You also removed a similar edit in Super Mario Bros. Wonder's page, also dealing with Fire Peach's hair, for the same reason. I've worked out the problem with my removed edit with an admin, but I was just wondering what your reasoning was for removing my edit with that particular reason. (Also, the alternate costume in Ultimate is not a movie reference, if that's what you were thinking.) Again, I'm not trying to be rude or accusing, but I was curious. Are you sure this isn’t unique to Master Mantis?

A few days ago, I added another paragraph to the “Personality” section of the Master Mantis page. You removed it because it wasn’t “unique to Mantis” and that “ characters have quotes similar to that”. Is this really true? Pls respond with evidence, and explain why you changed it. Um…I think that the evidence for how Master Mantis is prone to catching winter colds is pretty solid. He is literally shown with a runny nose. That’s a pretty clear sign of sickness, and considering he’s also covered in snow, it’s clear it’s a winter cold. HumGree (talk). 19:26, February 23, 2024 (EST)

Characters having a runny nose in cold environments (like most of us do in real life, really) is a common cartoon gag and isn't meant to be interpreted as hidden lore about their immune system. Wording and colors

Hi, could you please not remove my entire edit? "Wording and colors are fine IMO" isn't exactly an elaborate reason for UNDOING my work.

• The background colors are gaudy and don't even correlate to the game's presentation. The text colors do just fine to give the tables some visual flair.
• If you believe the blurb about Blooper and Hammer Bro appearing in previous installments is useful information, then put it back in.
• I had actually fixed a factual error too; you don't NEED to play story mode as Blooper to get Hammer Bro (or vice versa), it's just recommended since otherwise it's a coin toss for who you face at the final duel.
• I darkened the text colors for accessibility. Light-colored text (i.e. Gold) on a white background is not readable!

Seems like a lot of other people have taken issue with your edit reverting, even admins. If your decision for reverting is more based in preference, please at least check in with the editor in user talk before hitting undo. DingoHazel [00494] 04:18, April 11, 2024 (EDT)
