To play, a Boo appears and tags onto a player. The first Boo that appears will tag the player that starts in the upper left corner. That player must then try to touch the other players passing the Boo on to them. When the timer has 10 seconds left, another Boo will appear and tag a different player, increasing the difficulty of the game. The other players should try to avoid the player with the Boo by running around the field and hiding behind the golden bars, coins, jewels, gems, sword and other items. However, the players with the Boos can run through the obstacles, making it harder for other players to avoid them. At the end, the player with the least time being tagged by the Boos wins.

Boo Tag is a 4-Player minigame in Mario Party DS. In it, the player must avoid the competitors with the Boo.
