Lava or Leave 'Em is a 4-Player minigame found in Mario Party 8. Its name is a pun on the phrase "Love or Leave 'Em."

Introduction[edit]

The players are walking through a field when a volcano in the background erupts. To avoid being burned, the players jump onto a nearby rock, which is soon being pushed by the lava. A Lava Bubble gets on the rock, and the game starts.

Gameplay[edit]

The player uses +Control Pad to run around and Two Button to jump. The players must avoid the Lava Bubble moving around on the rock. As the minigame progresses, the Lava Bubble splits into two smaller Lava Bubbles, which likewise split later. To win, a player must avoid being hit by the Lava Bubbles or falling off the rock either until time runs out or until all of the other players have been eliminated. If all remaining players are eliminated at the same time, the minigame ends in a tie.

Ending[edit]

The remaining players are seen on the now burnt field, doing their victory dance, with the losing players nowhere to be seen.

In-game text[edit]

  • Rules"Survive 30 seconds among the Lava Bubbles as more break off from the main fireball."
  • Hint"If you fall off the platform, you'll be eliminated. That lava is hot stuff!"
