Gun the Runner is a 1-vs.-3 minigame in Mario Party 8.
Overview[edit]
In the introduction, the Bullet Blitzer flies in front of a construction site and opens to reveal the team players, who raise their guns as the solo player is shown at the bottom of the site.
During the gameplay, the solo player must jump up platforms to get to the top of a large tower, while the team of three tries to shoot the solo player to stop them. The solo player uses stationary platforms and a few elevators along the way. Every time a teammate shoots a ball, they must wait a second to reload. If a ball is shot at the solo player, the player stops moving for three seconds. The solo player wins if they reach the top within 30 seconds. Otherwise, the teammates win.
During the ending, if the solo player wins, they celebrate as the Bullet Blitzer closes and flies off with the team players, who are sad for losing. If the team players win, they celebrate on the Bullet Blitzer while the solo player performs their losing animation on one of the platforms in the middle of the building. In Party Mode, if the result screen remains, the Bullet Blitzer closes and flies off with the team players into the distance, as the camera follows them for a short while.
