Pit made another early appearance alongside Mario in the Club Nintendo comic Super Mario: Die Bescherung. In this comic strip, Pit is one of the invited guests that Mario had invited over for a Christmas party that he is hosting. Within the comic, Pit is seen alongside various characters including Mario, Luigi, Princess Toadstool, Toad, Yoshi, Link, and Megaman. His appearance resembles his artwork from Of Myths and Monsters.

Super Smash Bros. series

Template:SSB Infobox Pit was originally supposed to be in the original Super Smash Bros., but was replaced by Jigglypuff in order to get more sales (Jigglypuff is from a much more popular series than Pit).Template:Refneeded He then made a cameo as a collectible Trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl

Main article: SmashWiki:Pit (SSBB)

Pit finally became playable in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Pit is able to shoot light arrows that can be slightly directed, and is also able to break his sacred bow of Palutena into two blades for some up close combat. He can jump multiple times like Kirby or Meta Knight, and to glide. Pit is voiced by Minami Takayama in the Japanese version. Pit's side B is called Angel Ring, which is an attack that spins his bow and deflects projectiles, and his Down B is Palutena's Mirror, which allows him to reflect any attack, even moves like Sonic's Spin Dash. However, Pit is still vulnerable to attacks from behind.

Solid Snake Codec Conversation
  • Snake: Otacon, there's a kid with wings out here. Is he a mutant? Or is he just into costumes?
  • Otacon: That's Pit, Snake. Pit is an angel from Angel Land. He's the captain of Palutena's Army.
  • Snake: Angels. Give me a break!
  • Otacon: I dunno, maybe he's from a different species. But those wings on his back and those mysterious weapons he has are the real deal. He may look young, but he's a veteran warrior. Watch yourself. He used to be a weakling, but countless trials over the years have toughened him up.
  • Snake: And by trials, you mean, "Game Overs"?
  • Otacon: Yeah, you should know all about that.
The Subspace Emissary

Pit's snapshot in the Subspace Emissary.

In the Subspace Emissary of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Pit joins the story early in the game. He was watching the fight between Mario and Kirby at Midair Stadium when he sees the devastation of the Subspace Army's Subspace Bomb, and is sent by Palutena to go assist the other heroes in defeating the Subspace Army. He hurries down to the world, so he can help the other defeat the Subspace Army. He lands on a spot near the Halberd, and has to fight Primids and other Subspace enemies that are appearing. He also finds Mario, transformed into a trophy. He awakens him and the two team up. They soon witness Fox McCloud's Arwing chasing after Halberd.

Upon reaching solid ground, they find the Ancient Minister carrying another Subspace Bomb, but they were unable to reach him, and he gets away. What happens next depends on which princess was rescued.

Pit and Mario catch their breath after defeating Link and Yoshi.

If Princess Zelda was rescued, Pit destroys the Dark Cannon that False Zelda is about to fire at Link and Yoshi, and subsequently fights her with Mario. They are then attacked by Link and Yoshi, who have mistaken False Zelda as the real Zelda. Otherwise, if Princess Peach was rescued instead, then Pit and Mario are instead targeted by False Peach, who was defeated by Link and Yoshi. Pit and Mario then end up fighting them as well. In both variants, the outcome is similar; the team who defeated the fake princess also defeat the other team, who gets snatched up by King Dedede's Cargo. However, Kirby arrives and revives the defeated team from their trophy forms. Then either Pit or Link blows out the Cargo's engine and all five go after Dedede.

Pit and the others track Dedede down to his castle, but upon entering, they find the throne room in ruins. They explore a nearby cave and eventually find Bowser getting away with the princess that wasn't rescued in the beginning. Pit fires an arrow Bowser, but this only causes a badge that the princess was wearing to fall off. Bowser escapes to the Halberd.

Pit and the others eventually find the Ancient Minister again, this time in the Wilds. After chasing him for a period of time, the R.O.B.s intervene and detonate the Subspace Bomb that the Minister had been carrying. Pit and the others escape from the blast and reach the Canyon, where they fought hordes from the Subspace Army and meet other heroes. They were eventually joined by even more fighters before entering Subspace, where they met defeat by Tabuu.

Fortunately, King Dedede had designed badges (including the one Kirby ate) to revive fighters from their trophy forms after a set amount of time. With Luigi and Ness by his side, Dedede rescues Pit and most of the others, while Kirby saves the remainder of the team. They then explore the Great Maze before reaching Tabuu for their final battle.

Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS / Wii U

Template:Newsubject

Pit is confirmed to reappear in the upcoming Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. While part of his moveset is the same as in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, such as Palutena's Arrow, some of his moves are new and based off his weapon attacks in Kid Icarus: Uprising, such as the Upperdash Arm and the Guardian Orbitars.

Special Moves

Palutena's Arrow

Palutena's Arrow, from Brawl and 3DS respectively.
Main article: SmashWiki:Palutena's Arrow

Palutena's Arrow is the projectile launched by the sacred item, the Sacred Bow of Palutena, in the game Kid Icarus. Pit uses use it in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It is executed as his Standard special move. Once used, Pit will take out the Sacred Bow of Palutena, pull out a blue, glowing arrow, and start aiming. The attack works similarly to Link's, Young Link's, and Toon Link's Bow attacks. However, unlike these attacks, Palutena's Arrow can be guided up and down, to give a better chance of hitting the foe. The arrow moves at light speed, so the player has to be quick. Kirby is capable of using this attack after copying Pit's powers.

Palutena giving Pit her bow.

Palutena's Bow is a bow forged by the goddess Palutena and given to Pit. The Sacred Bow of Palutena, as it is called, can fire magic arrows of light and can be taken apart to be used as twin blades. An unlimited amount of arrows are magically stored in Pit's two wristbands. Once an arrow is fired it is able curve in mid-air, or continue moving straight. The arrows, being magical, can go straight through multiple characters, while still dealing damage to them. If the attack is charged up, then the arrow will only hit the first character it touches.

Palutena gives her bow to Pit in the Subspace Emissary mode in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and is the main weapon that Pit uses in the game.

Angel Ring

Main article: SmashWiki:Angel Ring

Angel Ring is the side special move of Pit in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Pit spins his bow for as long as the Special Move button is tapped rhythmically . The spinning bow is able to deflect any projectiles it comes in contact with as long as the projectile is not too powerful. The attack can also damage opponents who are unfortunate enough to come in contact with it.

Wings of Icarus

Thw Wings of Icarus, from Brawl and Wii U respectively.
Main article: SmashWiki:Wings of Icarus

Wings of Icarus is an ability that Pit uses in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. It is activated by the player pressing the B button, and tilting the control stick up. Once it is activated, Pit's wings turn blue, allowing him to fly in the air for a short period of time. However, this ability wears off quickly. If the player does any ability or uses any attack while using Wings of Icarus, the Wings of Icarus immediately wear off and Pit performs the other attack. When this ability is activated while Pit in in the air, he is suddenly quickly lowered. On the contrary, if Pit is on the ground when Wings of Icarus is used he jumps up before flying. The move provides substantial height for the player, but doesn't do damage.

If Pit uses this move, he loses all of his mid-air jumps. Also, if he uses this move and gets attacked or uses an attack, he can't use the move again until he lands.

Mirror Shield

Pit's Mirror Shield.
Main article: SmashWiki:Mirror Shield

Mirror Shield is Pit's Down Special Move in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. When used, Pit takes out the Mirror Shield item from the Kid Icarus series, which he holds in front of him, shielding his entire body. The mirror deflects any and all attacks used on him, regardless of whether physical or projectile-based, and fires them back at double the strength. The shield only protects from front attacks, leaving him vulnerable from behind.

This move will be replaced with the Guardian Orbitars, from Kid Icarus Uprising, in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U/3DS.

Main article: SmashWiki:Palutena's Army

Palutena's Army is Pit's Final Smash move in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. When he uses it, he summons Palutena to come down and help him fight. Palutena then appears in the background, and summons an army of Centurions to assist Pit in battle.

The Centurions are part of Angel Land's army, and are commanded by Pit in the Kid Icarus series. They also retain the same role in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, acting as a part of Palutena's Army. They go under the command of both Palutena and Pit. Once the move is used, the Centurions appear and charge forward at rapid speeds, and bash into the opposing players. This causes massive damage, but, after the move is finished, the Centurions scatter, and lose their power. They can easily be knocked away after this. They are named after a common Roman military unit.
