Rudder Madness is a 4-Player minigame in Mario Party 8. Its name is a pun on "utter madness."

Introduction[edit]

The game is set on a river running through a swamp. The first character is seen from behind, followed by a portion of the course. When the camera goes back, all four players are lined up on their lily pads at the starting line.

Gameplay[edit]

The objective is to get to the finish first. To avoid falling behind, players must dodge rocks, poles, and other players on the way. They can turn their lily pads by tilting their Wii Remotes, which work as their rudders. If all the players manage to reach the finish line at the same time or if five minutes pass, the minigame ends in a tie.

Ending[edit]

The winner does their victory dance on the riverbank, while the others flow down the swamp and spin in their losing animations. If the minigame ends in a tie, all four players flow down the swamp and spin in their losing animations.

Controls[edit]

  • Wii Remote: Steer rudder
  • Buttons: None

In-game text[edit]

  • Rules"Grab the rudder and steer your way in a river race."
  • Hint"Hitting obstacles will slow your speed. Steer clear!"
