Each player holds the Wii remote sideways, using the 2 button to accelerate, and tilting the remote to steer. To pop a balloon, the player simply runs into it. Whichever team pops all their balloons first, wins the minigame.

Bumper Balloons is a 2-vs.-2 and Duel minigame found in Mario Party 8. Its name is a pun on "bumper cars." This minigame takes place in a similar setting to Kartastrophe, albeit on a differently shaped track more fit for battles.
