DK: Jungle Climber levels

Road to Ruins is the eighth level in DK: Jungle Climber in the world Lost Island. This place appears to be near some kind of Mayan-styled ruins.

In this level, Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong will learn how to throw rocks and use wings. This level also has several TNT Barrels that can help the Kongs throughout the level. This level also is the only level with Click-Clacks, and other enemies found in the level include Zingers and Flitters.

Layout[edit]

The Kongs will see some Flitters and ruined platforms, followed by a high platform that they must land on by using a Cannon Barrel; they can also nab the first Banana Coin on a single crumbling peg in the top left corner after landing on the platform and proceeding to the left across some crumbling pegs and Peg Boards. After the Kongs proceed past Flitters and a Zinger and climb over more walls with Peg Boards, they must eventually fall down near the bottom right of the first section and walk to the left to grab the letter K. The Kongs should then blast back to the top and climb across crumbling Peg Boards to reach the entrance to the second area.

In the second area, Donkey Kong encounters more Flitters and crumbling Peg Boards; he must destroy gravel walls below him so he and Diddy can nab the second Banana Coin by landing in an alcove below him to the right. They can find Cranky Kong at the bottom, who will teach the Kongs on how to use wings by flapping with the L and R buttons. On a ledge above him is a DK Barrel; the Kongs can then collect the wings and flap upward to collect some Bananas and the letter O, as well as some gems on a higher ledge near the left. In the top right is the entrance to the third area.

The third area contains a Click-Clack moving around some Peg Boards; above it are a DK Barrel and four more crumbling Peg Boards. The third Banana Coin is further above the four Peg Boards, which can only be obtained by launching Diddy Kong. Further up are some more Click-Clacks and a box containing wings; if they flap upward and to the right, they can find the letter N, as well as the fourth Banana Coin in an alcove below the exit to the fourth area. Flapping further upward leads the Kongs to several Bananas and the level's Oil barrel.

At the bottom of the fourth area, Cranky Kong reappears to teach the Kongs how to pick up and throw stones by using the L and R buttons; they must use this technique to hit Question Barrels and reveal Peg Boards so they can climb up to the top of the area. At the top of the area are another Question Barrel on the left and the level's DK Coin on the right; the Kongs must toss a stone at the Question Barrel to reach the DK Coin above the exit to the fifth area.

The fifth area contains more Zingers, as well as some stones to dispatch them; after climbing the second set of Peg Boards from the bottom, Donkey Kong can launch Diddy into an alcove on the right to collect the fifth Banana Coin. Above the third set of Peg Boards from the bottom is the letter G, which can again be collected with Diddy. Further up are two TNT Barrels, which the Kongs must hit to destroy some rocks, followed by a Question Barrel behind the rocks; hitting it reveals some more Peg Boards which allows the Kongs to climb up and reach the exit at the top of the area.
