DK: Jungle Climber levels

Toybox is a level in the game DK: Jungle Climber. After Xananab tells the Kongs where King K. Rool has escaped to, the player enters the world called Toybox. Toybox is a very colorful level; cascades of toys and brightly-colored pegs are main icons of this world and tires can also be found in this level. The Kongs must chase down King K. Rool in order to prevent him from obtaining the Spirowarp.

Layout[edit]

Donkey Kong and Diddy Kong begin in a ruin area, with several Zingers flying around Peg Boards. If they fall onto the platform below and to the right of the one they start on, they can find the letter K being guarded by a Zinger. Beneath the platform with the letter K is the first Banana Coin, which can be obtained by swinging and launching off some pegs. Directly below the starting platform is a Question Barrel, which the Kongs must hit to make some Peg Boards appear. Two more Question Barrels appear on the level above the one with the letter K and on the one near the top center, the latter of which Xananab is standing on. After they climb up to him using the newly appeared Peg Boards, he asks for the Spirowarp, which the Kongs can find on a platform to his left. Once given the Spirowarp, Xananab jumps into a worm hole; the Kongs should follow him.

The Kongs then arrive in a toy box, where Xananab tells them about a big bell hidden in the level. To his right are two Neeks on a large Peg Board and several single pegs, and to their right is a Kritter, as well as some Banana bunches and the second Banana Coin. The Kongs can bounce off a nearby tire to land in a Cannon Barrel on the level above and take out another Kritter; above the Kritter are several moving Peg Boards and two static ones in the middle, where the letter O is floating above the static Peg Boards. To the left of the moving Peg Boards is a horizontally moving Peg Board above some pencil spikes, at the end of which is the third Banana Coin. The exit to the next area is in the top right.

In the next area, the Kongs can find the fourth Banana Coin in an alcove below the platform they enter on. To the right are more sets of colorful tires, which the Kongs must bounce off to proceed, as well as some Peg Boards moving up and down above them. The letter N can be found above the gap between the second and third sets of tires, and the level's oil barrel is above the third set of tires, between the two moving Peg Boards. Shortly after this is another Kritter and the path to the fourth area.

The fourth area contains a DK Barrel and two sets of Peg Boards, with two Kritters hanging on some pegs between them. At the top is the large bell, with several tires surrounding it; the letter G is on the left of the bell, and the fifth Banana Coin is on its right. Both collectibles can be obtained by throwing Diddy Kong up to the tires and bouncing him off. They can also ring the bell in the same manner, which causes several jewels and the level's DK Coin to appear around the tires. The exit to the next area is on the right.

Upon entering the next area, a cutscene plays, showing the Kongs and Xananab confronting King K. Rool; K. Rool has one of his Kritters gain power from a Crystal Banana and merge with numerous toys, becoming Junklomp. To damage Junklomp, DK must avoid the two spikes rotating around the boss and hit it where the spikes are not present. This causes Junklomp to turn red and the spikes to stop moving. The boss then moves its spikes downward, attempting to home in and fall down on Donkey Kong; he must avoid the attack so that the toys fall off the Kritter, leaving it vulnerable to damage. Hitting the Kritter again or waiting too long causes the face to reform, the former action also making the boss's face revert to green.

After taking one hit of damage, Junklomp sends out three waves of four missiles each, then extends its spikes again. Hitting it again causes the boss to repeat its homing attack, after which DK can deplete its health a second time.

After taking two hits, Junklomp repeats its missile attack. Hitting it again causes Junklomp to release two red flashing boomerangs, then repeat the homing attack. Once the Kritter is hit again, Junklomp is defeated, allowing Donkey Kong to collect the first Crystal Banana.
