Right or Left is one of the Assembly Dojo techniques in WarioWare: D.I.Y. It is the fifth technique in the red set, and the twenty-ninth overall in the game. The goal of this technique is to make an object change its art with an even chance.
Overview[edit]
At the start of Assembly, the player is presented with a single Object, an arrow facing leftward by default, named "Arrow". There is a second object, named "Randomize", taking the form of a tiny white square, available for creation.
Objects[edit]
- Randomize
| AI # | Effect |
|---|---|
| 1 | When RANDOMIZE touches (right half of the stage)
Turn RANDOMIZE switch ON. |
- Arrow
| AI # | Effect |
|---|---|
| 1 | While RANDOMIZE switch is ON:
Change art to RIGHT. |
Once the object "Randomize" has been created, the rest of its AI is automatically created alongside it. The starting conditions of the Object "Randomize" may be modified by the player.
Solution[edit]
To complete the technique, Object "Randomize"'s starting art must be set at "Randomize", with its starting position set to "Location > Area > Anywhere", followed by any area that evenly crosses the stage horizontally, without entering the area off-stage.
In-game text[edit]
- Description – "Will the arrow point left...or will it point right? You just have to think about how to make 50/50 odds in this case."
- Hint #1 – "What decides whether the arrow points right?"
- Hint #2 – "The right half of the stage is one half of what?"
- Notes (Page 1) – "When making games, sometimes you need something to happen randomly. There's nothing to lose by learning all the differnet ways to create randomness. In addition to using time to create randomness, you can also use areas."
- Notes (Page 2) – "You can set an object to appear in an area, right? Let's say that the entire stage is our area. Now imagine half of that area...for example, the right half. Well, what are the odds that the object would appear in that half? It will appear there half the time...so the probability would be 50/50!"
- Notes (Page 3) – "So you can create randomness using time or areas, depending on the situation or simple preference. Using areas for randomness can take away some of the precision for setting a specific probability, but you don't always need precision."
