List of techniques

Odd Man Out is one of the Assembly Dojo techniques in WarioWare: D.I.Y. It is the eighth and final technique in the red set, and the thirty-second and final technique overall in the game. The goal of this technique is to allow for a microgame to be completed after specific pairs of objects have been tapped.

Overview[edit]

At the start of Assembly, the player is presented with three Objects arranged randomly within the stage. A white circle with an "A" on it labeled "CircleA", a white circle with a "B" on it labeled "CircleB", and a white square with an "A" on it labeled "SquareA". When tapped, the Objects will light up, with the letters "A" turning red and circles' outlines turning yellow, and make a click sound.

Objects[edit]

While game is not yet won:

While game is not yet won:
Turn SQUAREA switch ON.
Change art to SELECTED.
Play INPUT sound effect.

None of the objects may be modified by the player. Instead, the Win Conditions may be modified by the player.

Solution[edit]

To complete the technique, the Win Conditions must set two separate win conditions, configured as follows:

  • Condition 1:
    • When "CIRCLEA"'s switch is ON.
    • When "SQUAREA"'s switch is ON.
    • When "CIRCLEB"'s switch is OFF.
  • Condition 2:
    • When "CIRCLEA"'s switch is ON.
    • When "CIRCLEB"'s switch is ON.
    • When "SQUAREA"'s switch is OFF.

In-game text[edit]

  • Description"Ensure that the game is won only if two objects that are the same shape or letter are tapped."
  • Hint #1"There are two different types of like groups here."
  • Hint #2"Not being in a like group is just as important as being."
  • Notes (Page 1)"How many types of like groups are there here? There's an A Group and a O Group."
  • Notes (Page 2)"The key to this challenge is detecting when only members of the same group have been selected. In other words, even if two like items have been selected, we can't allow the game to be won if some unlike item has been tapped."
  • Notes (Page 3)"So for the game to be won by selecting members of the O Group, we require that: A's O is ON & B's O is ON. But that's not all. With only the above requirements, the {{color|red|game can be won even if a □ is tapped."
  • Notes (Page 4)"So we modify our O group requirements as follows: A's O is ON & B's O is ON & is OFF. Now all that's left to do is to create similar requirements for the A Group, and you're done. Nice work!"
