Back and Forth is one of the Assembly Dojo techniques in WarioWare: D.I.Y. It is the sixth technique in the yellow set, and the twenty-second overall in the game. The goal of this technique is to make an object that moves from side-to-side.
Overview[edit]
At the start of Assembly, the player is presented with a stage with a single object, a white ball with a pause symbol, labeled "Ball". The Ball Object is located inside a shallow pit inside a white floor on the bottom of the screen.
Objects[edit]

The first entry of the first action of the Object "Ball" may be modified by the player.
Solution[edit]
To complete the technique, the first entry of Object "Ball"'s first action must be set to "Travel > Roam > Reflect", either Anywhere or Try not to overlap, and set the area to be within the area of the shallow pit. The speed may be set to any of the speed options.
In-game text[edit]
- Description – "You need to create AI that makes the object move left and right...AND reflect off the walls! Can you do it?!"
- Hint #1 – "You can't get away with having it just travel left or travel right."
- Hint #2 – "What kind of motion do you get by roaming in a narrow area?"
- Notes (Page 1) – "Roam is a unique type of travel action that includes some randomness. There are four types of roaming: wiggle, insect, reflect, and bounce."
- Notes (Page 2) – "One of the coolest things about roaming is that the direction of travel is random--you can't predict which way the object will go. Having that sort of unpredictability can really boost a game's fun factor."
- Notes (Page 3) – "Another cool thing about roaming is that you can freely set the area to roam in. You can even use reflect within a narrow area to make it travel back and forth on a line."
- Notes (Page 4) – "Keep in mind, however, that since the roam direction is completely random, you can't choose a fixed direction for an object to roam in... BUT! You can first create AI that makes the object travel in a specific direction, then on the next line write the roam AI. We just MIGHT explain more about this later..."
