List of techniques

Mid-Air Tap! is one of the Assembly Dojo techniques in WarioWare: D.I.Y. It is the fifth technique in the yellow set, and the twenty-first overall in the game. The goal of this technique is to tap an area of the stage as if it is an object.

Overview[edit]

At the start of Assembly, the player is provided a stage devoid of Objects, with a single white floor on the bottom of the screen. There is a single Object labeled "Blank" available to make.

Objects[edit]

Blank
AI # Effect
1 When BLANK is tapped:
Turn BLANK switch ON.
Change art to .
Play CORRECT sound effect.

Once the object "Blank" has been created, the rest of its AI is automatically created alongside it. The starting conditions of the Object "Blank" may be modified by the player.

Solution[edit]

To complete the technique, Object "Blank"'s starting art must be set to "Normal", and its Location must be placed in any area 16 pixels below the center of the stage, whether as a Point or as an Area.

In-game text[edit]

  • Description"You're supposed to only be able to tap objects, so is it possible to tap just part of the background?!"
  • Hint #1"How do you make an object look like it's not there?"
  • Hint #2"It's going to have to match up EXACTLY!"
  • Notes (Page 1)"As you build up your AI construction skills, there's something you absolutely must understand: the only portions of an object that exist are those that are actually drawn."
  • Notes (Page 2)"So if you make an object that has any empty space, AI for detecting taps will not trigger if an area with nothing in it is tapped. The same goes for contact. If two empty objects overlap, for example, the contact will not be registered."
  • Notes (Page 3)"But sometimes you want to trigger an action by tapping an empty object. In that case: Create an object that perfectly matches the background. If it's a white background, make a white object. If it's a blue-sky object, make a blue object. The player won't be able to tell that there's an object there."
