"Diddy's Ditties" is a playable song exclusive to the North American version of Donkey Konga. It is a medley of three traditional English-language children's songs.
The medley begins with an instrumental version of "Happy Birthday to You," a traditional birthday song. The song's presence in this game predates it officially becoming public domain in the United States in 2016[1]—between 1989 and then, it was copyrighted by Warner Chappell Music.[2]
As "Happy Birthday to You" ends, "The Itsy Bitsy Spider," a popular nursery rhyme, begins. Somewhat unconventionally, it is played in a straight 4
4 rhythm; and unlike the preceding song, it is played at 125 BPM and has vocals, initially performed by a choir of children before being joined by an older male singer. Two verses of "The Itsy Bitsy Spider" are performed before its last line is repeated at a slower tempo.
The third and final song in the medley, preceded by an upward synth line, is "Row, Row, Row Your Boat," another popular nursery rhyme. Unlike "The Itsy Bitsy Spider," it is somewhat slower and has not been put into a straight 4
4 time signature, but like the preceding song, it is also sung by a choir of children eventually joined by an older vocalist. After four verses, the song's key moves up and it is changed into a two-part round, a common way for "Row, Row, Row Your Boat" to be sung. After two more verses, the song's key is changed again. The song ends after two additional verses (for a total of eight), with the last line slowed and repeated.
LyricsEdit
(All right, here we go!)
The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the waterspout
Down came the rain and washed the spider out
Out came the sun and dried up all the rain
And the itsy bitsy spider went up the spout againThe itsy bitsy spider climbed up the waterspout
Down came the rain and washed the spider out
Out came the sun and dried up all the rain
And the itsy bitsy spider went up the spout againAnd the itsy bitsy spider went up the spout again
Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is but a dreamRow, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is but a dreamRow, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is but a dreamRow, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is but a dreamRow, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is but a dreamRow, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is but a dreamRow, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is but a dreamRow, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
Merrily, merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is but a dreamAh
