"Disk System Theme" is a march-style jingle composed by Koji Kondo for the Family Computer Disk System, where it plays upon starting the system. While album releases consider the theme to be part of the soundtrack for The Legend of Zelda, which was originally released as a launch title for the Disk System, the theme appears in several Super Mario games.

Family Computer Disk System BIOS[edit]

The BIOS of the Family Computer Disk System marks the first appearance of "Disk System Theme". It is also included on the official albums TOY MUSIC ~Dancing Super Mario Brothers~, Famicom 20th Anniversary Original Sound Tracks Vol.1, Nintendo Sound History Series: Zelda The Music, Game Sound Museum ~Famicom Edition~ 10 The Legend of Zelda, FAMICOM 20TH ANNIVERSARY GAMEMUSIC DVD, Disk System Selection Iitokodori CD SIDE A, and Disk System Selection Iitokodori CD SIDE B. In each album appearance, it is followed by the system's Disk Card read chime.

Nintendo GameCube BIOS[edit]

An heavily-slowed arrangement of the theme serves as the Nintendo GameCube's menu music.

In WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Party Game$!, a brief arrangement of the first few notes of "Disk System Theme" plays before starting a microgame in the Milky Way Delirium mode.

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, a faithful arrangement of "Disk System Theme" plays upon booting Grodus's computer at X-Naut Fortress with a Data Disk; both the computer and Data Disk are references to the Disk System.[2]

In the Nintendo Switch remake of Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, the original version of "Disk System Theme" plays during the sequence instead.

Donkey Konga 3[edit]

In Donkey Konga 3, the original version of "Disk System Theme" is featured in the playable song "Zelda no Densetsu", which is a medley that also incorporates themes from the Disk System version of The Legend of Zelda and the Disk Card read chime.

Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix[edit]

In Dance Dance Revolution: Mario Mix, "Disk System Theme" is remixed as part of the playable song "Piroli", which also incorporates the Disk Card read chime.

Super Mario Maker[edit]

In Super Mario Maker, the original version of "Disk System Theme" plays when the player completes a level as Costume Mario with the Diskun costume.

The Game Music Graffiti - Nintendo Complete Works Collection album features a medley arrangement of "Disk System Theme" and "Entrance of the Gladiators" arranged by Seiji Kameda. The entire track is titled "HELLOW DISK WORLD!" and precedes the album's arrangement of "Overworld Theme" from The Legend of Zelda.

Mario & Zelda Big Band Live[edit]

The Mario & Zelda Big Band Live concerts, held on September 14, 2003 at Nihon Seinenkan Hall in Tokyo, Japan, included an arrangement of "Disk System Theme" arranged by Shigeo Nukita and performed by The Big Band of Rogues as part of a medley of themes from the The Legend of Zelda series.

The arrangement is included on both the DVD and CD recordings of the concert; on the DVD tracklist, it is titled simply 「ゼルダの伝説メドレー」 (Zeruda no Densetsu Medorē, "The Legend of Zelda Medley"), while on the CD tracklist, it is titled 「ゼルダの伝説メドレー (ディスクシステム:「ゼルダの伝説」より)」 (Zeruda no Densetsu Medorē (Disuku Shisutemu: 'Zeruda no Densetsu' Yori), "The Legend of Zelda Medley (From Disk System: 'The Legend of Zelda')").

The FAMICOM 20TH ANNIVERSARY GAMEMUSIC DVD album incorporates "Disk System Theme" as part of a medley arrangement of themes from several Family Computer games arranged by Takayuki Aihara. It plays at around three minutes into the medley and precedes the medley's arrangement of "Title Theme" from The Legend of Zelda.
