{{user|MarioManiac164}} kind of has an issue with his user page relating to [[:File:Dry Bowser MSOWG.jpg]] as it covers up the navigation pane to the left. Would it be in MarioWiki's best interest for a sysop like you to edit the userpage by scaling down the image to around 70px width instead of its full width? --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 01:19, 9 February 2017 (EST)

[[User:{{BASEPAGENAME}}/sig]], I have a suggestion:

;Current
I did see that note. perhaps should've made discussion before adding it. on one hand I understand since it just says what buttons to press, but on the other hand a game mentioning a cheat code is also a bit more complicated then just listing controls as of all the other instances (not to mention being hidden and games rarely mention secret codes like that ingame) then theres the instance of the code in Bowser's Inside Story, which is also on the page. True they do mention hearing the 'buttons' being pressed, but it's still essentialy passing secret info meant for the player, and again a bit more special then the usual "press 'this button' to do 'this'.[[User:Pikmin theories|Pikmin theories]] ([[User talk:Pikmin theories|talk]]) 22:15, November 10, 2023 (EST)

===Kloak and Kackle===
In your point of view, Kloak and Kackle were old pirate Kremlings before Kremling Krew? Here many profiles.

This is all thanks to [[mediawiki.org:Help:Magic words|Magic Words]]. [[Special:ListFiles/Yes man]] - {{user|Yes man}}'s submissions kind of bug me. Is there any benefit to submitting a separate image where the background is removed? His [[:File:ChainChompSM3DL.png|latest submission]], [[:File:Chomp3DLand.png|this]] is the source. Also he only links them to the [[Template:Galleries|gallery pages]]. I say he should just upload over the previous version so we have less images to keep track of. I've also had problems with these for more examples:

:I can agree to an extent if the isolated version is different than the full picture but I think that {{user|Yes man}} should try making his own renders instead of using high quality uploads as his base. That way there is enough variation to warrant his separate uploads. --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 23:39, 15 February 2017 (EST)
I had no idea :O Thank you for letting me know about that and for creating a subpage for me. I wanted to have a subpage for my signature, but I am still a non-autoconfirmed user which holds me back from creating a page for myself. == RPG lists question. ==

== Re: articleabout ==
So, I'm back, again. New RPG, new list to create. Anyways, I'll stick to the point: Since the page for ? Blocks in Origami King is so thorough and includes EVERY SINGLE ONE, I thought: Why some pages should have only hidden blocks and this one has all. I am aware that TOK as ingame counter for them, but so does the 3DS Mario and Luigi titles and only SS has the page for the hidden ones. So, I propose these two scenarios:

That's okay.
Add non-hidden ? Blocks to the respective pages and then rename the pages and create the pages for the games that does not have them, such as PIT. And do it for every single RPG.

Same as above but only in the games that have the ? Block counter in them, such as 3DS ML games mentioned above.

If this is a problem, I suppose his account could be deleted and he could remake it at his house, but that would screw up the one contribution he made. Is there a way to move the IP info when he goes home?
Okay, this is what I'll do: I will screenshot the location, then crop it to remove the black bars and then change it to 1920x1080, that seems like the best option. == RE: [[Wormhole (disambiguation)]] ==
Hi. So. I just finished original Bowser's Inside Story and there are quite a lot of types of blocks, namely ? Block, Attack Piece Block, Brick Block, Special ? Block, Rally Block, Empty Block,  M-Block, L-Block, Body Slam Panel, Puzzle Sack Block and ! Block., so I kind of have series of questions:
*Special ? Block - 2 in Pump Works and 1 in Energy Hold, these ? Blocks when struck create a collumn of 5 M/L Blocks in a pattern, which then must be repeated by striking subsequent 5 ? Blocks. Since they are different from normal ? Blocks, I would like to know if we have page for this type of block so I can use it when making the list? I vaguely remember it reappearing in Paper Jam, with P Blocks added to the mix.
*M/L/! Blocks - 1 M in Energy Hold, 2 L in Pump Works and Energy Hold, ! in Plack Beach Cliff. I grouped them together since they serve the same purpose. When struck, they turn on the coins around them. Should I include them in the list even though they're technically switches? But then these four are the only "switches" that give you a reward, like a ? Block. So you can see the dilemma here.
*Body Slam Panel - In Blubble Lake, Bowser Path and Peach's Castle. They also give out rewards when struck, just like ? Blocks But due to their low number, which would be better: Include them in the list or make a section in the Body Slam page?
*Empty Block - Ten in Toad Town Mall. Only in the Mushroom Ball sidequest. Add to the list and to the Mushroom Ball page or just the MB page? I know there already are some images, but I will include new ones in preparation for when I'll play the remake. (requested by Swallow)
*Puzzle Sack Block - Same as MB - On the list and page or just the page? Here I would only edit the existing images and also to prepare it for the remake.
*As for the rest, they will be added by default, so no questions for them.
Thank you for the upcoming answers, I will start with the list tommorow with your instructions. --[[User:Mid188|Mid188]] ([[User talk:Mid188|talk]]) 09:38, January 25, 2024 (EST)

Well, there is [[vortex]] and [[portal]], but I am not sure to include them. Also there are many [[:Category:Disambiguation|disambiguation pages]] with two subjects. [[Worm hole]] is tricky because of its conjectural name. Come to think of it, it has the same problem [[beehive]] once had. {{tem|disambig}} would support my page creation. That's why I went with it. --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 03:44, 7 April 2017 (EDT)

Hi, so after little setback I started playing Sticker Star and I have a question: Since Sticker Star is the only two-screen game without any sort of minimap, should I just screenshot the non-album screen or should I keep doing it normally (two screens next to each other, like literally every other page with NDS/3DS games)? Also, there is a type of block called Paperization Block (block which appears after using Paperize and placing a sticker). Should I include them in the ? Block page or Hidden Block page?--[[User:Mid188|Mid188]] ([[User talk:Mid188|talk]]) 15:34, February 3, 2024 (EST)

I completely forgot to add my ''SM64DS'' proposal (look at [[Talk:Super Mario 64 DS]] for more) to [[MarioWiki:Proposals]], nor add the required templates to either page until two days prior to its deadline. Does this warrant an extension, or will it still expire in two days, despite my mistake? Please let me know so my proposal can get settled. Now more modifications for Help namespace need to be performed because OGG files have been moved using a more appropriate extension:
*[[Help:Namespace]]
**[[:Media:Overworld Theme.ogg]] - [[:Media:Overworld Theme.oga]]
**[[:File:SMK MC1.ogg]] - [[:File:SMK MC1.ogv]]
*[[Help:License]]
**Audio clips section will use <code>*.oga</code> and video clips section will use <code>*.ogv</code>.
----
----
For clarification editing [[Help:Licensing]].
Only you for tell me that. Even though he wasn't involved in ''Returns'', for me it's enough evidence (as the "likes" in doubts). Some wiki sites accept that.
* [[Wikipedia:Theora|Theora]] - *.ogv
* [[Wikipedia:Vorbis|Vorbis]] - *.oga
There are other audio formats supported by the OGG spec, like ''Opus'', ''Speex'', and ''FLAC'' for audio, but those rarely, if at all, get used on the Wiki. More information: [https://wiki.xiph.org/MIME_Types_and_File_Extensions] For daily MarioWiki editing and uploads, OGA use Vorbis, OGV use Theora or Theora+Vorbis. --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 21:33, 3 May 2017 (EDT)

::Analyzing Xiph's documentation, my recommendations are as accurate as I can make them out to be while keeping things as simple as possible for editors. Theora+Vorbis is what you expect if you understand Vorbis only. --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 21:58, 3 May 2017 (EDT)

:::Oh no, I wasn't doubting your recommendations, I was referring to my edits when I said "Hope that's all correct". {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 22:06, 3 May 2017 (EDT)

[[File:If Output is OGG.png|thumb|right|If the output is OGG, you can change the extension without changing the file contents and without [[Special:Upload|upload errors]].]]
Looks like [[Help:Media]] needs to be updated, not just with [[:File:Example.ogg]] to [[:File:Example.ogv]], but to reflect OGG being a discouraged extension. It should also be stated that some converters still output as OGG regardless of Theora or Vorbis content, but changing the extension will not affect anything. Ways to change the extension before upload (but not limited to):
*Redlink to the file
*[[Special:Upload]] when specifying the file name
*[[Wikipedia:Windows Explorer|Windows Explorer]] (or equivalent file manager)

:Thanks, changes have been made. Conveniently, it also covered the changes I proposed on the admin boards. I did some minor rewriting/reorganising and excluded some unnecessary parts, such as the method for formatting {{tem|media table}}, as it's already found on the template page itself. I'll get to updating [[Help:Image]] eventually. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 01:40, 8 May 2017 (EDT)
::Thanks for updating the help page. A few problems with the revisions you made to my draft. Firstly, I purposely chose to remove anything related to inserting text like this <code><nowiki>[[Media:Video.ogv]]</nowiki></code> because what if someone wants to view the file page to make an upload fix or something? I know that {{tem|media link}} exists. Yes, being able to directly download the media is compromised this way, but {{tem|media table}} does this with videos. Also, the MediaWiki software has a box below the HTML5 player to download the file directly anyways if you use the <code><nowiki>[[File:Audio.oga]]</nowiki></code> or <code><nowiki>[[Image:Audio.oga]]</nowiki></code> method of linking. I also thought that ''acceptable content'' should be the first header instead of being a sub-header of audio and video because that needs to be upfront before anyone gets to work creating media files. I chose to change that header to ''Uploading and Embedding'' because ''audio and video'' is what the help page is already describing as my change is more descriptive how to work with media files. The only thing I thought was fair enough was the removal of an example formatting of how to use {{tem|media table}}. The draft was designed to be thorough and decisive. --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 03:11, 8 May 2017 (EDT)

:::Yeah, I planned to rename "Audio and video" and move "Acceptable content" once I was done with [[Help:Image]]. Anyway, removed the part about "Media:". {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 03:59, 8 May 2017 (EDT)
::::I think you were performing the changes as I was typing but I submitted my message before you submitted the better change so, moot point. == Deletion of redirect page "Inklings" ==

I have noticed that the redirect page [[Inklings]] has been deleted, simply for being a plural redirect. Per [[MarioWiki:Redirects]], "Redirects are only unnecessary when (1) they are completely nonsensical, (2) they are too general, and (3) the search function takes the user to the correct page '''without''' said redirect."

A plural redirect does not meet the three criteria listed above; the redirect "Inklings" does not constitute "completely nonsensical", it is specific enough, and the search function does not automatically take the user to said page without the redirect.

Furthermore, there are plenty of plural redirects on this wiki. [[Boos]], [[Goombas]], and [[Bullet Bills]] are just a few examples of plural redirects that exist here. There is no reason that the redirect page "Inklings" should not exist if there are many redirect pages on this wiki that are plural redirects.

It's a bit tricky on what to call it. What plays in ''Tetris 99'' is the arrangements of the title screen themes from the first three ''Mario Party'' games. :Sounds good. Thanks! {{User:Alex95/sig}} 21:13, 31 May 2017 (EDT)
I do agree that there's been a lack of communication with the changes I'm making to articles. I think I just assumed proposals are mostly for deciding whether to create or delete stuff on the wiki. On sidenote, I think disagreements on articles (mainly if they're not part of a "set" like Mario Kart courses, Super Mario levels) are too vague and lack substance to form a proposal out of.

== NSMB levels ==
As for the tabber template, both cases approved by the system are comparing screenshots each showing a different iterations of something between appearances. I'm not the only one who has been doing this: if you also take a look at the Mario 64 courses, I didn't add tabber to those. The Mario Party and Mario Kart set a precedent for similar cases: if Mario party minigames can use tabber, why not WarioWare microgames too? those are minigames that have returned in later WarioWare games in very similar manner to Mario Party minigames. From what I've heard, there's a solution in place for if JavaScript doesn't work, though over time, I've both felt and realized that such circumstances would call for captioning the images to preserve the context of the images.

Hey sorry about all that with the last few NSMB levels, I was legitimately unaware of Puzzle & Dragons also having those levels; hell, I even forgot that game existed until I saw all of what you did lol. I just wanted to apologize for my screw up and making you do a lot of extra maintenance, and I'll try to be more aware of things in the future. {{User:Lord Bowser/sig}} 10:36, 1 June 2017 (EDT)
For show/hide, I personally love clicking between tabs and collapsible content, especially if it's collapsing an element than might clash with prose (e.g. bloated wikitables or galleries). I'm also not the only person to have been doing this, as I saw someone add to a section on the [[e-Reader]] article, which has a bloated wikitable.

== Check [[:Category:To be deleted]] ==
The Luigi's Mansion room pages have this one 3DS image on the side that squishes the opening text, making it harder to read, which is why I added tabber on the Luigi's Mansion room pages. I try to reduce redundant headings, which can include a gallery section if it has only one image, or sections with only one or two sentences.

Hi, could you please delete the [[Minecraft]] page real quickly so that I can move the page to that title? Thanks! {{User:Toadette the Achiever/sig}} 21:54, 1 June 2017 (EDT)
For [[Cranky's Lab]], other articles don't have a "Potions" heading, so I tried imagining a way to make it look consistent with other shop pages. Perhaps Inventory is an ideal heading for shop locations.

== Improper title ==
Lastly, even in wake of the disagreements, others did agree to me turning the enemy/item count on the level pages into gallery form, and that's the only change I made to some of the Super Mario level pages. Sorry about that. I noticed that nobody else on this site posted the locations for the Monty Moles in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga, so that's why I did it on my own. When I went to the main page for that game, I noticed that the locations for the Green Pipes, Chuckle Bean pits, and hidden blocks with Hoo Beans were already posted (or at least referenced to other pages where they were posted). This fiasco with SUPER got me creating my own converter. I need a few things from you (and maybe others). First, please test [[User:Wildgoosespeeder/Help:Media#FFMPEG To Theora+Vorbis OGG File GUI|a program I created]], if you have any edition of [[Wikipedia:Microsoft Windows|Windows]]. You need video files, such as game recordings in an emulator or something. If the video is compatible with FFMPEG, it will work with my GUI. I need you to report any errors or shortcomings. Follow directions how to get FFMPEG setup with my program. Convert the video files and see if it produces a valid OGV. You can open OGVs in VLC Media Player and [[Help:Media#Browser support|any web browser that supports the format]]. This program is how I was able to upload [[:File:SMW Eat Control Coin glitch.ogv]]. --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 01:49, 8 June 2017 (EDT)
:I don't use emulators, so I used a short game capture video for your program. It seems to have converted to OGV successfully; no issues in the conversion process as far as I can tell, though an exception error does come up if you don't have ffmpeg.exe or the Output folder in the same folder, even if it asks to download/create it. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 07:52, 8 June 2017 (EDT)
::Sounds normal. The messages only pop-up if the exe and directory don't exist. It's error correcting and more descriptive so that way the program doesn't crash or give an unhandled exception. You can keep the program running and put the exe in the same folder as the program. Click convert again and the conversion should work as expected, putting the output file in the output folder you specified (after you OK any directories that don't exist and want to create it). --{{User:Wildgoosespeeder/sig}} 15:43, 8 June 2017 (EDT)

== Fix ==
It is possible to defeat the same Lakitu twice in [https://www.mariowiki.com/World_8-2_(Super_Mario_Bros.)#Level_maps Super Mario Bros. World 8-2]. The first Lakitu begins its retreat near a bunch of brick blocks high in the air, which are hiding a secret One-Up. If you cross this threshold, the Lakitu begins its retreat like normal. If you platform on top of these bricks, you can defeat the Lakitu easily. But, if you move Mario past the threshold, the Lakitu wakes back to life on a lower yPosition, and retreats like nothing happened. If you are very quick about it, you can defeat the same Lakitu a second time. This is a very unusual bug. [https://jmp.sh/s/5M1HiqMUFF1kzcA3Obsc Here is a demonstration!]

I will prove this to you by showing that a vine cannot be rendered at the same time as an item. It is easy to make an item disappear because of a vine. But can you make a vine disappear because of an item?

::Insulting other is not good. [[User:Music Video 123|Music Video 123]] ([[User talk:Music Video 123|talk]]) 23:15, 27 June 2017 (EDT)
In [https://www.mariowiki.com/World_3-1_(Super_Mario_Bros.:_The_Lost_Levels)#Level_map Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels World 3-1], you can do just that! Consider the close proximity of the vine block and mushroom block. [https://jmp.sh/s/J8A6SN8OwmN3bfoZAkcN Here's a gif] but you can also try it out for yourself. First hit the beanstalk box, then hit the mushroom box. The beanstalk will disappear because the game treats it like an item. Hopefully this is proof enough that Beanstalks should be considered an item along with the rest. (If it's not enough evidence, then this needs to be added as a completely new glitch in Super Mario Bros.)

== One Way Wall ==
A small disclaimer: I found both of these bugs on the Nintendo Switch emulation of the games. I am confident they appear on the regular NES and Arcade versions of Super Mario Bros. but it would need to be double checked obviously.

I found a model of the [[One-Way Wall]] [https://www.models-resource.com/custom_edited/mariocustoms/model/13004/ here] but it is said that is custom... Is it really custom? Or it is official model? Because its look exactly like the official one... If its official model, so why is it on custom? So if its custom, nothing to say... --[[Special:Contributions/86.193.239.162|86.193.239.162]] 04:32, 27 June 2017 (EDT)
I am fascinated with glitches, and I hope these can be added to the notoriously short [https://www.mariowiki.com/List_of_Super_Mario_Bros._glitches List of Super Mario Bros. glitches]. Thank you!

:I'm pretty sure that's a custom model. From what I've heard, the NSMBU style in Mario Maker uses 2D sprites that look 3D. It also wouldn't be under "custom" if it's official. {{User:Mario jc/sig}} 06:01, 27 June 2017 (EDT)
One last note, does the list of glitches contain the one where you fall directly on top of a vine or the flagpole? For some reason I can't find it in the list, I thought that was a rather popular one.

The cards needed to play minigames at the [[Pianta Parlor]] in ''[[Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door]]'' — the [[Special Card]], the [[Silver Card]], the [[Gold Card]], and the [[Platinum Card]] — are collectively called Member's Cards. The name appears four times in the game:
* [[Lahla]]: "''Oh! Mario! That card! You got a <u>Member's Card</u>! OK. I'll prepare the mini-game you can play with that <u>Member's Card</u>. How exciting!''"
* An unnamed [[Goomba]] in Pianta Parlor: "''Whuzzat, now? You wanna know how to get a <u>Member's Card</u>, do ya?''"
* [[Wonky]]: "''If you want to try it, you'll have to find a <u>Member's Card</u> somewhere...''"

"However, if you continue to pester other users continuously for unnecessary reasons, you will receive a warning."
What should we do?
* Do not cover the name.
* Create a page for the name, using the singular form. This would make the page hard to categorize. For example, if we put it in [[:Category:Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door special items]], it would appear to be another special item rather than a collective name.
* Create a page for the name, using the plural form. This doesn't seem to be wiki practice, and the plural form is unattested in the game.
* Redirect the name to [[Pianta Parlor]]. Seems to be a good idea, but this would make [[Pianta Parlor]] a two-subject page, possibly with two bolded names in the introductory part.

The inconsistency in their names is due to historical reasons. These pages were really about characters not covered on the wiki, which, due to [[SMW:NPC]], are the ''minor'' (unimportant to storyline), ''unnamed'' NPCs. I initially went with "List of Minor NPCs …" because it was the only capitalized term at the time, which means I had to mention the minor-but-named characters, duplicating info available elsewhere on the wiki. I didn't use it for ''Super Paper Mario'' because the number of minor-but-named characters far outweighs the minor-but-unnamed ones in that game. Since the term was later [https://www.mariowiki.com/index.php?diff=3833486 decapitalized], would it be a good idea to change all three pages to "unnamed NPCs", for consistency? --[[User:Dine2017|Dine2017]] ([[User talk:Dine2017|talk]]) 22:03, February 5, 2024 (EST)

Why does the Mechakoopa have sharp teeth in Super Mario World, and have a white wind-up key instead of black? (animation sprite) Because in Bowser Battle artwork they lack the teeth and they have a wind up key... I know theres palette limitation but theres black palette in Super Mario World. And sharp teeth arent graphical limitation... Same question for Lemmy, hes supposed to lack teeth, and green, because green with orange exist because hes originally green.

Another thing: how should we handle the naming of levels from the ''Mario vs. Donkey Kong'' remake? Hi! I have a small question about signatures. In [[MarioWiki:Signatures]], one of the rules states that "Some users also change their sigs during certain holidays. Though allowed, these sigs must also conform to all previous rules, and it is suggested to only do this a couple of times a year at most." However, I can't help but notice that a lot of users have multiple signatures that are used throughout the year, which technically breaks this rule. I was wondering what this rule's logistics are; is it just a suggestion, a hard rule, or something in between? Is this artwork official, or fan recolored?
;[[MarioWiki:Navigation_templates#Game-specific templates|Game-specific templates]]:...These auxiliary game-specific templates only need to go on the articles of subjects that concern them (e.g. the NSMB2 level articles) and the game page itself. I have a question about two rules, or rather what happens when two rules both apply: "[[MarioWiki:Categories#Placement_on_articles|If a subject-specific category can be split further [...], use only the most specific category.]]" and "[[MarioWiki:Categories#Size_and_scope|Non-series/game/console/etc.-specific categories need a minimum of five entries, [...].]]" To use [[:Category:Politicians]] as an example, a lot of its entries overlap with its subcategory, [[:Category:Mayors]].  Removing the redundant entries, per the first rule I mentioned, would result in there only being six non-mayor politicians left. This is still technically allowed, but what would happen if, by removing the mayors from the politician category, there were four or less entries left? According to the second rule, the category wouldn't technically be valid, even if there are several articles that actually belong under it; they're just nested in a subcategory. Any discussions about the two categories being merged or otherwise removing one of them can be set aside for the time being. It's a discussion worth having, but I am currently interested in the question that I asked you. Simply put, is a non-series/game/etc. category valid if it has less than five entries, but has a subcategory with more than five entries? {{User:Time Turner/sig}} 00:51, 19 July 2017 (EDT)

secret codes[edit]

I did see that note. perhaps should've made discussion before adding it. on one hand I understand since it just says what buttons to press, but on the other hand a game mentioning a cheat code is also a bit more complicated then just listing controls as of all the other instances (not to mention being hidden and games rarely mention secret codes like that ingame) then theres the instance of the code in Bowser's Inside Story, which is also on the page. True they do mention hearing the 'buttons' being pressed, but it's still essentialy passing secret info meant for the player, and again a bit more special then the usual "press 'this button' to do 'this'.Pikmin theories (talk) 22:15, November 10, 2023 (EST)

Doubts[edit]

Kloak and Kackle[edit]

In your point of view, Kloak and Kackle were old pirate Kremlings before Kremling Krew? Here many profiles.

  • Gloomy Gulch in instruction booklet (page 30): "This spooky area is also haunted by the evil Kremling spirits known as Kloak and Kackle."
  • Gloomy Gulch in Player's guide (page 20): "Don't count on meeting another living soul in this dilapidated ghost town, where even the ropes fade in and out of existence like phantoms."
  • Web Woods in German player's guide (page 84): "Dieser schrecklich düstere Wald wird sogar von den Kremlingpiraten gemieden."
  • Nintendo Power vol. 76 (page 26): "Keep a watch out for Klobber when he's barreling ahead and the Ghost Pirate who haunts the forest shadows."

RPG lists question.[edit]

So, I'm back, again. New RPG, new list to create. Anyways, I'll stick to the point: Since the page for ? Blocks in Origami King is so thorough and includes EVERY SINGLE ONE, I thought: Why some pages should have only hidden blocks and this one has all. I am aware that TOK as ingame counter for them, but so does the 3DS Mario and Luigi titles and only SS has the page for the hidden ones. So, I propose these two scenarios:

Add non-hidden ? Blocks to the respective pages and then rename the pages and create the pages for the games that does not have them, such as PIT. And do it for every single RPG.

OR

Same as above but only in the games that have the ? Block counter in them, such as 3DS ML games mentioned above.

I really think this would be a good idea, but I'm eager to hear your thoughts on this. Even if you think I should not do it, tell me, so I won't ask in the future again.

Anyways, that is all. --Mid188 (talk) 16:45, November 17, 2023 (EST)

Okay, I'm going to go ahead with scenario 1, starting with the original SMRPG. Will keep you posted after every game. --Mid188 (talk) 22:04, November 17, 2023 (EST)

Okay, I have a request: Could you look at my Sandbox and tell me which of the two images do you prefer? Then delete both, I will upload all at once after I'm done with the game.--Mid188 (talk) 20:17, November 18, 2023 (EST)

Okay, this is what I'll do: I will screenshot the location, then crop it to remove the black bars and then change it to 1920x1080, that seems like the best option. So, please remove the File:Mushroom Way Treasure 1 (Cropped).png page, it's not needed anymore. Thank you and I'll make myself known after completing the game. --Mid188 (talk) 20:48, November 18, 2023 (EST)

I'm sorry, I just thought the bigger one would be better. I will use the small ones then. Thank you for your input.--Mid188 (talk) 20:54, November 18, 2023 (EST)

Okay, will do as you say and correct the mistake. Thank you for stopping me before I got really far. --Mid188 (talk) 08:16, November 24, 2023 (EST)

Ok, I am almost done, you can check if there's anything to correct before transfering it to the page. --Mid188 (talk) 10:47, November 24, 2023 (EST)

Oh okay, so do you want separate pages or separate sections on 1 page?--Mid188 (talk) 07:10, November 25, 2023 (EST)

Something like this?--Mid188 (talk) 07:54, November 25, 2023 (EST)

Hi, I'm back. Completed PM64 and already did the list(s) in my sandbox. You can check for anything if you want, afterwards I would upload the images and make the page(s). Onto the original Superstar Saga.--Mid188 (talk) 17:04, December 3, 2023 (EST)

Hi.

  • Special ? Block - 2 in Pump Works and 1 in Energy Hold, these ? Blocks when struck create a collumn of 5 M/L Blocks in a pattern, which then must be repeated by striking subsequent 5 ? Blocks. Since they are different from normal ? Blocks, I would like to know if we have page for this type of block so I can use it when making the list? I vaguely remember it reappearing in Paper Jam, with P Blocks added to the mix.
  • Body Slam Panel - In Blubble Lake, Bowser Path and Peach's Castle. They also give out rewards when struck, just like ? Blocks But due to their low number, which would be better: Include them in the list or make a section in the Body Slam page?
  • Empty Block - Ten in Toad Town Mall. Only in the Mushroom Ball sidequest. Add to the list and to the Mushroom Ball page or just the MB page? I know there already are some images, but I will include new ones in preparation for when I'll play the remake. (requested by Swallow)
  • Puzzle Sack Block - Same as MB - On the list and page or just the page? Here I would only edit the existing images and also to prepare it for the remake.
  • As for the rest, they will be added by default, so no questions for them.

Thank you for the upcoming answers, I will start with the list tommorow with your instructions. --Mid188 (talk) 09:38, January 25, 2024 (EST)

Ok, thank you for your input. I will get to it shortly.--Mid188 (talk) 07:40, January 26, 2024 (EST)

Block page or Hidden Block page?--Mid188 (talk) 15:34, February 3, 2024 (EST)

Okey dokey, will do. --Mid188 (talk) 08:48, February 5, 2024 (EST)

So, I am almost done with Sticker Star (like 97%), I just have one question: Since I was doing pictures for the paperization blocks/objects in the levels, should I also do pictures for the paperization in the Sticker Museum?--Mid188 (talk) 06:44, February 12, 2024 (EST)

  • Netflix
  • YouTube
  • Hulu
  • Amazon Prime Video (formerly Amazon Instant Video)
  • NCircle TV

Mario Party Superstars Medley[edit]

It's a bit tricky on what to call it. What plays in Tetris 99 is the arrangements of the title screen themes from the first three Mario Party games. To respond to your message[edit]

For show/hide, I personally love clicking between tabs and collapsible content, especially if it's collapsing an element than might clash with prose (e.g. bloated wikitables or galleries). I'm also not the only person to have been doing this, as I saw someone add to a section on the e-Reader article, which has a bloated wikitable.

For Cranky's Lab, other articles don't have a "Potions" heading, so I tried imagining a way to make it look consistent with other shop pages. Perhaps Inventory is an ideal heading for shop locations.

Lastly, even in wake of the disagreements, others did agree to me turning the enemy/item count on the level pages into gallery form, and that's the only change I made to some of the Super Mario level pages. Super Game Gear (talk) 09:51, January 4, 2024 (EST)

A new glitch and a previously unknown item in Super Mario Bros.[edit]

Hi there! I have some potential edits for some Protected Pages that you might be interested in.

The newly discovered glitch in Super Mario Bros.

It is possible to defeat the same Lakitu twice in Super Mario Bros. World 8-2. Here is a demonstration!

The previously unknown item in Super Mario Bros.

A notable glitch in Super Mario Bros. is that two items cannot be rendered at the same time on the screen.

An implication of this is that the Beanstalk / Vine also needs to be included as one of the Items in the Super Mario Bros. article.

This is because the game considers Beanstalks to be an item.

I will prove this to you by showing that a vine cannot be rendered at the same time as an item. It is easy to make an item disappear because of a vine. But can you make a vine disappear because of an item?

In Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels World 3-1, you can do just that! Consider the close proximity of the vine block and mushroom block. Here's a gif but you can also try it out for yourself.

A small disclaimer: I found both of these bugs on the Nintendo Switch emulation of the games. I am confident they appear on the regular NES and Arcade versions of Super Mario Bros. but it would need to be double checked obviously.

I am fascinated with glitches, and I hope these can be added to the notoriously short List of Super Mario Bros. glitches. Thank you!

One last note, does the list of glitches contain the one where you fall directly on top of a vine or the flagpole? For some reason I can't find it in the list, I thought that was a rather popular one.

An uncovered collective name[edit]

The cards needed to play minigames at the Pianta Parlor in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door — the Special Card, the Silver Card, the Gold Card, and the Platinum Card — are collectively called Member's Cards. The name appears four times in the game:

  • Lahla: "Oh! Mario! That card! You got a Member's Card! OK. I'll prepare the mini-game you can play with that Member's Card. How exciting!"
  • An unnamed Goomba in Pianta Parlor: "Whuzzat, now? You wanna know how to get a Member's Card, do ya?"
  • Wonky: "If you want to try it, you'll have to find a Member's Card somewhere..."

What should we do?

  • Do not cover the name.
  • Create a page for the name, using the singular form. This would make the page hard to categorize. For example, if we put it in Category:Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door special items, it would appear to be another special item rather than a collective name.
  • Create a page for the name, using the plural form. This doesn't seem to be wiki practice, and the plural form is unattested in the game.
  • Redirect the name to Pianta Parlor. Seems to be a good idea, but this would make Pianta Parlor a two-subject page, possibly with two bolded names in the introductory part.

"Minor NPC"[edit]

Currently we have the following three pages:

The inconsistency in their names is due to historical reasons. These pages were really about characters not covered on the wiki, which, due to SMW:NPC, are the minor (unimportant to storyline), unnamed NPCs. I initially went with "List of Minor NPCs …" because it was the only capitalized term at the time, which means I had to mention the minor-but-named characters, duplicating info available elsewhere on the wiki. I didn't use it for Super Paper Mario because the number of minor-but-named characters far outweighs the minor-but-unnamed ones in that game. Since the term was later decapitalized, would it be a good idea to change all three pages to "unnamed NPCs", for consistency? --Dine2017 (talk) 22:03, February 5, 2024 (EST)

Question about the Hammer theme[edit]

I was listening to the supposedly rearranged version of the Hammer Theme in Mario vs. Donkey Kong for Switch. While it sounds not unlike the original, it still seems to use a slightly different square synthesizer for its instrument. Would that count as a rearrangement, or just a source-quality implementation of the original? Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 00:26, February 24, 2024 (EST)

Mario vs. Donkey Kong level identifiers[edit]

Another thing: how should we handle the naming of levels from the Mario vs. Donkey Kong remake? Since, as you know, two new worlds were added in (meaning, say, Level 6-4 is now Level 8-4), we'll no doubt have to do a massive series of page moves, but should the identifier stay the same for the moved pages? Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 19:58, February 24, 2024 (EST)

I have a question about the number of signatures you can have.[edit]

Hi! I have a small question about signatures. In MarioWiki:Signatures, one of the rules states that "Some users also change their sigs during certain holidays. Thanks for taking the time to answer this question! -- Artwork of Rosalina used in Mario Party: The Top 100, Mario Kart Tour and Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020. Umm… yeah, about that sock puppet thing…[edit]

Hello, Mario JC! I would just like to mention that earlier you might recall blocking me and some other “Sockpuppet” of me. Well, I just would like to mention that… um, that sockpuppet was my best friend! He created an account around the same time as I did, and he showed me that he was BLOOCKED INDEFINITELY! Now, I have NO CLUE how our IP’s got mixed up (Probably due to how we use MarioWiki during free time at school) but either way you blocked him accidentally. And I know exactly that HE is the sockpuppet because he was blocked by you, too, and that we were blocked at the same time. Could you please unblock him? If you don’t trust me, that’s fine but at least tell me and I’ll prove how it’s true. Artwork of a Wonder Flower from Super Mario Bros. Wonder Wonder Time! How the heck am I supposed to get cool by editing everything "correctly", huh?[edit]

Okay, Mario JC. For once, you're right. But this isn't my first time joining in this wiki anymore, all I ever do is to edit everything correctly, but I actually don't? How? You might I'm annoying, but how the heck was I suppossed know I edited something bad? I'm not like an 8-year old child. I'm tired of being not cool and serious. Tell me how I should be a non-annoying editer. So I can get personal at all. -ArdaOnayOzcan2009

At least take time to understand and remember the guidelines in Help:Contents. The Contents of Help has many links that redirect you to various guideline pages. If you read them, you will understand why you have made editing errors unintentionally. Conforming to the guidelines should help you be a non-annoying editor. Level templates[edit]

Hello! Out of curiosity, I have a question regarding game-specific templates if it's a case-by-case basis, thinking about how SMB3 wouldn't be included in the level articles, but for example DKC is present in the level articles of the game. But that maybe is a relic from the merge?

Game-specific templates
...These auxiliary game-specific templates only need to go on the articles of subjects that concern them (e.g. the NSMB2 level articles) and the game page itself. Like the main game-specific templates, auxiliary templates are color-coded based on series.

I assumed that the main template should be included in all articles related to the game, but that auxiliary level templates should only be present in the main article and level articles. Or should this question be taken else where? Kind regards Nikenpelle (talk|sandbox) 11:41, March 23, 2024 (EDT)

Edit warring on the Easter egg page[edit]

What did I do wrong (you wrote this in your message: This is a warning to stop your inappropriate behavior (edit warring) on the Super Mario Wiki. Please adhere to the rules or you will be blocked from editing this site. If you feel this warning was undeserved, you may appeal it.)? I didn't even "edit warring"! I don't even know what "edit warring" means! (Posted by Bwario).

I'm not a staff member, but edit warring is when multiple users constantly undo each other's edits on a page. You've been adding cameos on the "Easter Eggs" page when they are not actually Easter Eggs, and thus were in an edit war with Nightwicked Bowser. Please listen to his advice. link:User:Sparks Sparks (talk) link:User:Sparks 13:33, April 3, 2024 (EDT)
Why not them Easter eggs? (Posted by Bwario).
Easter Eggs you'd generally have to go out of your way to find. Most of the NDC references are proudly displayed and can be seen with no effort. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 14:52, April 3, 2024 (EDT)
Here's what I had to do to find all these Donkey Kong related things in Super Mario Odyssey and collecting things related to Donkey Kong in Super Mario Odyssey for the Easter egg page was also difficult... Although it is true that it is more of a reference to another game, but they were hidden. (Posted by Bwario, 8:17, April 4, 2024) (EDT).
I think Bwario is right, the Donkey Kong stuff is really Easter Eggs. 89.134.27.123 10:06, May 6, 2024 (EDT)

I've got a question about a proposal that I made.[edit]

Hello! I was wondering if you've played Princess Peach: Showtime enough to help me out with something. I made this proposal recently. I thought all was well and that my reasoning was correct until I noticed something on the Radiant Peach page. There is a currently-unmade page titled Sparkla Spirit that I think may be exactly what Stella was referring to in the quote that I based my proposal evidence around. If this is the case, it would mean that I'd have to change and/or delete my proposal as it would not be needed. However, I have not made it to the part of the game where the Sparkla Spirit(s) are directly mentioned, so I don't know what to do. Can you please help me figure this out by reading my proposal and getting back to me on whether it's necessary for me to keep it up? If you haven't played Princess Peach: Showtime! enough to help me, can you please point me to someone who you know has played through the game enough to verify my proposal evidence and/or could help me take my next steps? (If you're thinking of voting on the proposal in question, please don't do so until I figure out what to do!!) I need a page deleted.[edit]

Hello! I uploaded a MP4 media file recently that I meant to use as a video clip. However, it was uploaded as an audio file and not a video file. I then converted it to a GIF and attempted to upload a new version of the file, only for the wiki to stop me with an error message. I would like for the file that I uploaded (and its corresponding page) to be deleted, as the file is useless now that I have it as a GIF. Once the file is deleted, I will upload my GIF file. Please delete the page as soon as possible. The page is File:PPS Transformation Cutscene.mp4. I already contacted Mario (talk) about this, but I have gotten no response. I am sending a nearly identical message to Nightwicked Bowser (talk) because I want this done as soon as possible. OK, instead of ""(name of something)",<ref>", it goes ""(name of something),"<ref>". Thanks for your correction on writing sentences correctly to me. Marking edits as minor[edit]

Hello Mario jc, so we noticed that you are mostly marking edits as minor, even though you are making major changes to pages instead of minor ones. We also noticed that you also mark edits as minor when you are undoing edits by other users, which nobody else has done in the Wiki, you should not mark edits as minor when you are undoing because nobody else does it, the only time you should do minor edits is if you are doing spelling corrections, fixing the capitalization, or fixing the punctuation.
