The 8 bits (sometimes called the 8 bit Club) is the name of an army led by Wart. It is an organization of Shy Guys, Beezos, and Snifits that aided Wart in his conquest of the land of dreams, Subcon, in Super Mario Bros. 2. Their name is a reference to the Nintendo Entertainment System's bit number: eight. Mario, Luigi, Toad, and Princess Toadstool encountered members of the 8 bits in almost every location they visited, be it in the desert, clouds, or tundra. Shy Guys are the most numerous members of the 8 bits, and they or their giant-sized brothers are seen in every level. The Snifits are also found in most levels, but Beezos only appear a few times.
