Thanks for completing the work on Mario Trump[edit]

Looks like the page of Mario Trump is now complete, I want to thank you for the great work you did.--Mister Wu (talk) 09:47, 28 December 2016 (EST)

You're welcome, and thanks for letting me help. After all of that, it's got me wondering about the other Mario card/board games that need or deserve scans to be uploaded. Heck, Super Mario UNO doesn't even have a page!--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 16:12, 28 December 2016 (EST)
Unsurprisingly, I have the Super Mario Uno cards scanned and uploaded (Japanese version, but should be identical to the international one), when you want the scans tell me and I'll send you the link to the folder on Mediafire.--Mister Wu (talk) 13:56, 4 January 2017 (EST)
Yeah, send it over to me. You can make the page and I'll figure out the file name format.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 14:15, 4 January 2017 (EST)
Here is the link, as soon as you downloaded the scans, tell me so I can remove the link. The new page will be created here: UNO Super Mario, since the official site has UNO as first name.--Mister Wu (talk) 16:32, 4 January 2017 (EST)
I preapared the page with the names you told me to use, I reused the Mario Trump table as it makes sense to do that, we just have to check that the official names are less wide than the cards themselves.--Mister Wu (talk) 06:26, 5 January 2017 (EST)
Thanks a lot! Now we have pretty much covered all the decks I scanned! Your help was really fundamental for the completion of the job!--Mister Wu (talk) 23:16, 6 January 2017 (EST)
Get your hands on the Nintendo UNO deck now! whoop whoop!--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 01:03, 7 January 2017 (EST)
Alex95 (talk) is going to upload the scans, as he has that deck!--Mister Wu (talk) 07:15, 7 January 2017 (EST)

Hans should work with any game. BabyLuigiFire.png Ray Trace(T|C) 20:59, 29 December 2016 (EST)

RE:Nintendo UNO[edit]

Hm. I was thinking I'd scan and upload them myself. It seems more convenient that way and I can keep track of everything. If you don't mind, I would like to take care of it all. But it'll have to wait until after I finish making the List of Mii Headgear page, which is my current project and I'm almost done with it. I should get to scanning the cards at least by the end of next week. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 12:14, 7 January 2017 (EST)

...Very well. I suppose it does make sense to have them done consistently by the same person. Like I said, though, I haven't scanned anything yet, but I should be able to get them to you by the end of next week. Hopefully. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 14:15, 7 January 2017 (EST)
The whole article needs an overhaul, actually (as the Power Star Card info is incorrect). So why don't I do the rewriting while you do the uploads, deal? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 14:22, 7 January 2017 (EST)
I don't use either of those, tbh. I was thinking I'd try to email you them directly or, if that doesn't work, use dropbox. Regardless, I'll get them to you one way or another. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 14:22, 9 January 2017 (EST)

Here you go! My scanner enjoys giving me problems, so let me know if anything went wrong. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 13:05, 10 January 2017 (EST)

Alright. My scanner can't save them as a .png, but I'll see what I can do. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 13:42, 11 January 2017 (EST)
Yeah, I can do pdf. Sorry, I'm working on, like... three other projects as well, but I'll rescan them today. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 11:42, 12 January 2017 (EST)

Hopefully these will do. My scanner can't do 1200dpi, highest is 600dpi, so I hope that's alright. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:44, 12 January 2017 (EST)

Yeah, sorry about my printer's quality. I tried to do my best and work with it. On the plus side, the finished page looks great! I think we did a good job on it! :)
As a sort of symbol of our collaboration, why don't we swap friendboxes? Here's mine

The board you created on the Super Mario Bros. Monopoly article is impressive, however its formatting causes the rest of the article to be centered alongside it. I'm not particularly well-versed with this kind of code, so would you be able to fix it? Hello, I'm Time Turner. 03:55, 10 January 2017 (EST)

I was hoping that you'd fix the center tag leaking to the other sections, but removing it altogether works too. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 17:04, 11 January 2017 (EST)

RE: Chan missing from PM bestiary[edit]

Chan is a member of the Toad Town Dojo. I put him before Lee, as I think that is the best logical spot to put him in the bestiary. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 19:57, 11 January 2017 (EST)

RE: Forum help?[edit]

I'm indifferent to updating logos and custom made assets for the wiki and its operations not related to official Mario subjects (tagged with {{mariowiki-image}}). I have the same misgivings toward registering on MarioWiki's forum. If there was a way for Porplemontage (talk) to link, synchronize, or bridge credentials between MediaWiki and the forum software that gets used, I might reconsider. Bring that up to him. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 17:45, 18 January 2017 (EST)

Credit where it's due, I did not redesign the Maintenance logo, that was The Pyro Guy (talk), I just enhanced it.

That said, for the redesigning of various banners there is a thread on the forum, here. You could try posting there, might just expand the reach of the topic.
The logo is a bit more widely viewed than the banners, so you'll likely need a higher consensus and approval from Porplemontage (talk) as well before your design can get adopted.

I don't personally think about the logo that often though, so I myself don't have idea's as of now. While I do like your designs, they (or at least the latter) may be a bit generic.
Lakituthequick.png Lakituthequick 04:12, 19 January 2017 (EST)

I see. Well, I would still somewhat recommend to create an account anyway so you can communicate via that route, you don't need to be an active user per say. For now, I'll pass the message along.
Have looked a bit more deeply into your designs now though. What occurs to me is that the darker red drop shadows in the Mushroom design don't fit nicely with the area's they're a shadow of, especially on the lines bottom right. This suggests you did those manually instead of using the drop shadow or duplicate functions that Photoshop does have afaik. Would suggesting fixing these up.
Lakituthequick.png Lakituthequick 14:39, 19 January 2017 (EST)
I don't know either, I've never witnessed the changing of logo, but I think it's better if Steve also gives his more elaborate opinions on it. I also assume he reads the General Discussion topic there, so he'll also have seen some opinions.
Do note that the general consensus doesn't stand behind the redesign for 100% just yet though, there is more discussion going on still.
Lakituthequick.png Lakituthequick 17:54, 20 January 2017 (UTC)
The SVG actually embeds two PNG's inside of it (Mushroom and text as separate layers) and does not contain actual vectors.
Lakituthequick.png Lakituthequick 21:05, 20 January 2017 (UTC)
Either keep it as a PNG or recreate it in a vector image editor (Inkscape, Illustrator).
Lakituthequick.png Lakituthequick 21:23, 20 January 2017 (UTC)

I was a little scared of using the Mario Boards when I first became active. But now that I been there and added stuff, I want to keep checking it out. I don't always log in to the Mario Boards every time I go there, but if I do log in, I only can go there and still be logged in until an hour after I logged in passes. Then I won't be able to change something until I log in again. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 14:49, 19 January 2017 (EST)

Personally, I like the second design better, as do a few other members on the forum. One user said that the logo was "easily identifiable, but nothing about it is particularly suggestive of the wiki", apart from the text. UserPyroGuy.png (T · C) 16:09, 19 January 2017 (EST)

PNG Optimization[edit]

I see you are applying transparency on images missing them. You might want to not be so quick to upload those. 14KB for a sprite when the previous uploader got it down to <1KB is kind of ridiculous. PNG Monstrous should do the trick. Make sure to tick all the boxes because sometimes pngout and zopflipng are worse with PNGs that small. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 03:36, 31 January 2017 (EST)

I'm on a mac, not windows. Btw, there a bunch more static gifs in the SMRPG images.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 03:40, 31 January 2017 (EST)
Dizzy OK, better get 3D Player 2010 (talk) on it because recently, he is doing that to images. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 03:43, 31 January 2017 (EST)

Hmm...Supermariofan67 (talk) uploaded and commented ImageOptim so Mac users can optimize instead of just Windows users. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 16:23, 25 February 2017 (EST)

Poll Suggestion Published![edit]

Hello there! This is Andymii, the Poll Committee Vice-Chairperson. Your poll suggestion, "New Wiki Logo," has been published and is currently being displayed on the wiki main page. We will give you credit once the poll is archived. Please note that we have made minor alterations to your original suggestion.

Thanks for your help! --Andymii (talk) 00:04, 6 February 2017 (EST)

Thanks for listening! I'm sure there will remain a strong preference to the old logo since people tend to dislike change. Still, this is nice. Now anyone and everyone can vote their opinion for a week.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 09:29, 6 February 2017 (EST)
I suggest that this should be done next year at the same exact time and see if there is a difference. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 12:35, 6 February 2017 (EST)

Can you add...[edit]

I was wondering if you could add the artwork the Battle Cards used on their files. I think people will wonder what it was based on, but don't want to look it up. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk) 17:50, 15 February 2017 (EST)

I considered it, but decided not to. I don't think people will wonder such a thing, and in cases where a piece of artwork is reused in another piece, I don't think we've ever added links to the original art used. It seems unnecessary to me.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 17:59, 15 February 2017 (EST)
Ok. You don't have to link them then. Red Yoshi in a construction hat walking Yoshi the SSM (talk)

Paper Fire Piranha Plant image[edit]

I moved MLPJPaperPiranhaPlant.png to MLPJFirePiranhaPlant.png. You should probably change the file on your sandbox, as the original is pending deletion. --A sprite of a Flame Chomp from New Super Mario Bros. Wii.TheFlameChomp (talk) 21:14, 15 February 2017 (EST)

Bestiary Work[edit]

It's probably better to move cropped screenshots of enemies to the new file pages so that way we can save the old versions of files just in case. The crops are missing a lot of context anyways. That way Special:UnusedFiles doesn't log the images.

--Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 17:12, 16 February 2017 (EST)

I disagree. Those three screenshots are horrible, and so were any of the others. What do you mean by this?: "It's probably better to move cropped screenshots of enemies to the new file pages so that way we can save the old versions of files just in case."

--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 17:51, 16 February 2017 (EST)

They need to be overwritten with a better quality image and moving is a better option since you are fixing a lot of bestiary articles and standardizing file names. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 18:06, 16 February 2017 (EST)
I'm sorry if you feel angry. Just trying to make a point of overwriting the file instead of creating a new file page. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 18:11, 16 February 2017 (EST)

Shiny Paper Shy Guy[edit]

{{:Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam bestiary|transcludesection=Paper Shy Guy}} causes the stats for both the Paper Shy Guy and the Shiny Paper Shy Guy, making it impossible for the new version of the bestiary stats to be added to the Shiny Paper Shy Guy page without adding the Paper Shy Guy stats along with it. Also, due to this, Shiny Paper Shy Guy is listed in the List of Shy Guy profiles and statistics page. --A sprite of a Flame Chomp from New Super Mario Bros. Wii.TheFlameChomp (talk) 18:36, 16 February 2017 (EST)

Thanks for providing images for the Paper Mario: Color Splash pages I have created. --A sprite of a Flame Chomp from New Super Mario Bros. Wii.TheFlameChomp (talk) 21:47, 23 March 2017 (EDT)

I noticed that you added transparency to File:Mario's side.gif. Could you do the same with File:Bowser's side.gif? Thanks in advance.

Card Shop[edit]

Hello! Do you still plan on working on the table for the card shop that you have here? I plan on creating Prisma Cardware soon, and I am wondering if I could put what you have so far onto the page when I create it. --A sprite of a Flame Chomp from New Super Mario Bros. Wii.TheFlameChomp (talk) 11:02, 31 May 2017 (EDT)

Welcome back![edit]

I saw a few moments ago that you want to work now on the bestiary of Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle. Welcome back! I was worried when you disappeared so abruptly.--Mister Wu (talk) 20:08, 30 August 2017 (EDT)

Thanks! Yeah, I just grew bored with editing the wiki before and moved on to other things. With the new game out, I got really invigorated to put together the bestiary, so I logged back in here.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 23:00, 30 August 2017 (EDT)

Hello! I know my edit here ended up messing things up, but is there a way to stop that from showing up on articles? --A sprite of a Flame Chomp from New Super Mario Bros. Wii.TheFlameChomp (talk) 17:03, 6 September 2017 (EDT)

I don't believe so. It's set up that way for all the enemy templates. Can you show me on what article its showing up?--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 17:13, 6 September 2017 (EDT)
It shows up on the articles with the vertical version of the template, such as MegaDragonBowser. While it could just be my iPad, it doesn't happen for the other enemy templates. --A sprite of a Flame Chomp from New Super Mario Bros. Wii.TheFlameChomp (talk) 18:03, 6 September 2017 (EDT)
So, since removing the leftover |} broke the template, I added a {| to the beginning of the template and that appears to have fixed the problem. I checked the pages with the vertical template, and nothing seems out of the ordinary. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 18:28, 6 September 2017 (EDT)

Collaboration project?[edit]

Hi, since you've returned, perhaps we could do a collaboration project where we work on the Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle levels? I tried contacting Alex95, but he doesn't have a copy of the game, and therefore cannot properly write up information on the levels. My comment to him was as follows:

Hi, I know you're currently creating articles for Super Mario Bros. levels, but is it possible for us to work on the Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle levels together? I mean, we did do well in collaborating on creating the Super Mario Galaxy 2 missions, and besides, the level layout in Mario + Rabbids is pretty overwhelming in and of itself, so I want to see how YOU would do it! (Two is better than one in this case!) Additionally, my plan is to do the levels of the even worlds, while you would do the levels of the odd worlds. What do you say?

So are you up for it? Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 01:28, 7 September 2017 (EDT)

I mean, probably yeah. I was thinking about it already, figuring out how the battle maps could be displayed as a table and all, but that was about all I was thinking of.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 19:57, 7 September 2017 (EDT)
Then would it hurt to display a draft of the table setup on either my talk page or yours? Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 20:08, 7 September 2017 (EDT)
We need to find a way to accurately convert an excel table to a mediawiki table, preserving the cell sizes, borders, colors, etc. for this to work.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 23:28, 7 September 2017 (EDT)
Here's a bit of a mockup I did. I think I covered all the parts of the maps. --EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 01:01, 8 September 2017 (EDT)
Looks pretty good! This format is definitely something I could get behind. Be sure to inform me (or someone else) when you finish those maps so that we can start creating articles on the levels in the game. ;) Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 15:45, 8 September 2017 (EDT)
Alright. I'll keep working on them but in return you need to find some way to convert them as I mentioned. There's too much going on with the tables to make them with code by hand on the wiki, so Excel is the only option for making the tables first. Unless we can get permission to upload screenshots of the tables instead.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 22:41, 8 September 2017 (EDT)
Hmmm...that sounds easy enough. Why not try making it table format? I'll send in a draft once I'm finished with it. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 23:42, 8 September 2017 (EDT)
"Why not try making it table format" What do you mean? And I honestly think our best best is to get permission to upload images of the excel sheet.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 00:52, 9 September 2017 (EDT)
Don't worry, I've realized my mistake by now. Clearly wasn't thinking it through. Yeah, I think we should try uploading them as screenshots. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 01:04, 9 September 2017 (EDT)
Go get the necessary permissions for this. I'm of course assuming we need it.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 01:19, 9 September 2017 (EDT)

Yo. While I may not be able to help with the description of articles, I can help with the table-based map. Putting together a map chart using wiki table syntax shouldn't be difficult for me to put together. I just need to know what to put in it.
As for the image, yeah uploading an image of the Excel sheet may not...look great. Second option, is there an in game map of some kind that can be used, like a minimap? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 22:19, 9 September 2017 (EDT)

I'd much prefer to be the one making the maps. However, if you can easily recreate the maps quickly and accurately, then by all means give it a whirl. If not, screenshots are the best bet. Making the tables by code manually will take far too long, especially given the size of the maps. Also, there is no minimap so I have to analyze the map manually by moving through it.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 01:39, 10 September 2017 (EDT)
A template of some kind is the first thing that comes to mind, so the different parameters can be adjusted to make a map. There are plenty of variables to take into account, though, and going off of the image linked to above, there may be more than a template is able to handle precisely. The different pipe directions and character placements would especially be troublesome... Not impossible, though. Why don't you make a finalized version of a map image and I'll show it to the others and come to a decision on that? Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 08:36, 10 September 2017 (EDT)
How's this? It's the map of World 1 5-1.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 15:51, 10 September 2017 (EDT)
That looks pretty neat! I'll run it by the staff and see what they have to say. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 15:55, 10 September 2017 (EDT)
Okay, so, the images can be uploaded, as long as they're kept simple like that and don't have any unnecessary enhancements or other details. A legend should also be included. Should an official map be created, then the images should be reuploaded. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 11:34, 11 September 2017 (EDT)
That's awesome! could you be more specific about "simple", "unnecessary enhancements", or "other details"?--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 19:15, 11 September 2017 (EDT)
"Simple" meaning how you have it currently. No need to add any backgrounds, random character images, etc. to make the image "more visually appealing". Just simply show what you need to and it'll be fine :) Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 19:49, 11 September 2017 (EDT)
I will likely make all the maps before posting anything, that way any changes I make to the format later down the line can be applied.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 20:04, 11 September 2017 (EDT)
Alright, I finished the maps for Ancient Gardens, except for the Challenges. Might do those later on? Idk, but I uploaded the images of the maps.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 15:26, 13 September 2017 (EDT)
Yeah, they look pretty good, but um... Uploading them all at once will leave them unused until the article is created. Might've been best to upload them during or after the article's creation, imo. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 15:45, 13 September 2017 (EDT)
Ah, yeah. Fair point.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 15:47, 13 September 2017 (EDT)

File correction[edit]

Hi, could you please make a correction to this file and remove Ziggy from the legend, as they don't appear in that area? Thanks!

P.S.: How are the Sherbet Desert maps coming along? Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 01:30, 17 September 2017 (EDT)

Oh, sure thing. You can find it right HERE. I haven't started on the Sherbet Desert yet. The maps take some time to do, given their size, and the fact I have to replay levels to do them all. Of course, as I'm typing this I've just realized I could run through the worlds now and map them, and check out enemy/hero placement using let's plays. Anyways, please pardon my sass above. Saw an opportunity for a joke and took it. Idk what you mean. --EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 01:42, 17 September 2017 (EDT)
Oops, I meant THIS file! Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 19:02, 17 September 2017 (EDT)
Okay, It's all fixed, for real now. Just a suggestion, maybe don't put the maps in a gallery on those pages, instead have them full sized.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 18:36, 18 September 2017 (EDT)
I'll resume making maps by the end of the week. I need to focus on my finals.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 18:37, 18 September 2017 (EDT)
Since it's been nearly two weeks, I thought I'd like to check in on you. How are the maps coming along? Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 18:42, 30 September 2017 (EDT)
My bad. I ended up taking a week off for myself after finals. I've been.... VERY tired. Rest assured, I will get back to the maps. --EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 04:27, 1 October 2017 (EDT)
Heh, that's alright. I've got at least two other projects of my own right now, so I think I can wait long enough. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 15:18, 4 October 2017 (EDT)
You don't have to wait to make the articles.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 01:27, 6 October 2017 (EDT)
Sorry for the late response. I know I don't, but it's just easier if I see a battle map and know what to expect. Like I said, I'll continue working on them when I'm done with another project, the PMTTYD Trouble Center missions, that I'm about to start (one of them, the SMR 3.0.4 levels, I just finished today). Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 11:57, 9 October 2017 (EDT)
Nice! And just when I had finished the former project! Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 22:53, 12 October 2017 (EDT)
Yep! Next up is either the challenges from the first two worlds, or Spooky Trails. Do we need to do the challenge maps?--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 22:56, 12 October 2017 (EDT)
Ok, I've finished and uploaded the challenge maps from Ancient Gardens and Sherbet Desert, as well as the four Ultimate Challenges.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 20:51, 13 October 2017 (EDT)
Spooky Trails is finished and uploaded. Challenge maps are next.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 19:16, 16 October 2017 (EDT)
Hi, could you please make a correction to File:MRKB ST4-1.png to show Mario and co.'s starting positions? Thanks! Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 21:28, 16 October 2017 (EDT)
I knew I should've double checked everything. I had a feeling I'd forgotten to do that on one of them. Thanks for telling me, I've updated the map.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 10:01, 17 October 2017 (EDT)
All the maps have been completed!--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 14:49, 20 October 2017 (EDT)

MRKB pictures[edit]

Hello! I have left a message on Toadette the Achiever's talk page that is also addressed to you. -- -- KOOPA CON CARNE

File redirects[edit]

Ideally, it'd be best if file redirects didn't exist. If a file path needs to be corrected, it should be corrected on the page where the file name is incorrect. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 16:27, 20 October 2017 (EDT)

See, I'm working on the MRKB bestiary, trying to finish up the template. I'm including the various icons, and implementing them in such a way that they are automatically displayed based on the stats. For example, Team Jump vs Ground Pound, are two different icons for the jump stat. Now, there's also a Double Jump stat that uses the Team Jump icon, however it would be pointless to reupload the image under a different name to make it show up, so I'm instead using redirects, so an enemy with Double Jump redirects the icon to the Team Jump img. Here's my problem: the jump thing worked just fine, but NONE of the other redirects are working. But then when is check a past version of the bestiary page, or edit the page, they show up, so I'm at a loss here.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 16:32, 20 October 2017 (EDT)
It's working now for some reason. shrug.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 16:35, 20 October 2017 (EDT)
"Now, there's also a Double Jump stat that uses the Team Jump icon, however it would be pointless to reupload the image under a different name to make it show up, so I'm instead using redirects, so an enemy with Double Jump redirects the icon to the Team Jump img." - There are some templates that share images, even if the image are for two different things. You can use the image for two different things if they are shown that way in game, it will make sense.
But if there are two different icons, then by all means, use both icons. But there's no need to make a file redirect. Correct the image link instead. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 16:39, 20 October 2017 (EDT)
It's so much simpler with the redirects though, I don't see the problem. Each of the weapons alone would be reuploaded 4 or 5 times.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 16:41, 20 October 2017 (EDT)
Took me a while to find it, but these redirects are actually against policy. If a file redirect exists, it'll make it impossible to upload a proper image with that name should the need arise. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 16:46, 20 October 2017 (EDT)
A fair point.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 16:50, 20 October 2017 (EDT)

Sprite masks[edit]

Hi, regarding File:PMCS Black Bowser.png, I think it's better if you just tag it with {{image-quality}} instead of outright removing it, citing the fact that it's just a sprite mask, and pointing out that additional edits need to be made to incorporate the sprite to its best potential. Plus, a similar case exists with File:Dreamy mario rip.png. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 19:49, 20 October 2017 (EDT)

There is no existing sprite of black bowser as he appears in game. Using the mask as a representation of Black Bowser's design, or appearance is ill-advised because it looks nothing like him. The mask can't be edited in any such way to "incorporate the sprite to its best potential" without becoming fanart. I Know nothing about the dreamy mario sprite.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 20:29, 20 October 2017 (EDT)
Assuming this is where it came from. It appears to be a black pallet that is overlayed the actual one? Either that, or Random Talking Bush is trying to pass off fanwork as official, and given his credibility, he likely wouldn't do that. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 20:45, 20 October 2017 (EDT)

This would be better than using the mask, but it still doesn't look like Black Bowser. The official artwork is the best image to use.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 20:50, 20 October 2017 (EDT)

Not really, as it's inconsistent with everything else. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 20:56, 20 October 2017 (EDT)
It doesn't need to be consistent. That bestiary is made up entirely of ripped sprites, which are 100% accurate to how they look in game, cropped screenshots of the more 3D enemies, which are STILL 100% accurate to how they look in game, and an official artwork of Black Bowser which, again, is 100% accurate to how he looks in the game. We aren't aiming for consistency, we're aiming for accuracy, though there is a level of consistency that needs to be met, which the bestiary already did.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 21:04, 20 October 2017 (EDT)
I still think it's better if we at least try to find a sprite that works, and add it in. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 21:12, 20 October 2017 (EDT)
Well if that doesn't exist, then that's just too bad. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 21:16, 20 October 2017 (EDT)
(╯°□°)╯︵ ┻━┻ If there was one, I would've used it when I made the bestiary. There's nothing to find. You know how past Paper Mario's didn't have sprite animation, and the bodies were all separate parts and the game puts them together? It's like that, but there's an extra step to it that we cannot replicate.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 21:21, 20 October 2017 (EDT)

Hey! That logo you made is great. I cannot thank you enough for making it and freeing us from the tirannny of the previous Super Mario Wiki logo.

But there's a small problem... --Glowsquid (talk) 08:30, 23 October 2017 (EDT)

Thanks, I was just really tired with that old logo, and I think each one before it was pretty bad. It was great to have something that was actually decently representative of the wiki and the franchise without just being a boring old photo with "lazy" editing. No offense meant towards the designers of the previous logos, I just have some experience with graphic design.
The font though, that's... interesting, I guess, but I don't think it matters all that much. For one, I'm not even sure if I still have the original Illustrator file for the logo to then edit it, so making any changes would require recreating the logo from scratch. Another thing is that, though I did make the logo, I'm not the one to talk to about making changes; that's for Porplemontage himself. I doubt he'd see it as a problem to be fixed.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 14:08, 23 October 2017 (EDT)
You wouldn't need to entirely recreate it from scratch. You sent me an SVG version of it in our discussion of 20 January, I still have that one. You will need to recreate the text and its shadow, but seeing that's what this topic is about, that is not a problem. Lakituthequick.png Lakituthequick 19:46, 25 October 2017 (UTC)
I liked that one the wiki used for years. The one with Mario and all the screenshots in the background. That's just me though. Doc von Schmeltwick (talk) 16:18, 25 October 2017 (EDT)
I do still have it, it seems; the Illustrator file. But, here's another thing: that tweet doesn't even tell us the name of the font. If we can get the proper font, that still won't mean anything. You need to talk to Porplemontage, not me.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 21:39, 25 October 2017 (EDT)

Is the proposal meant for just the Cascade Kingdom or all the kingdoms? If the later, the main proposal page might've been best. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 15:38, 3 November 2017 (EDT)

All of them. I'll move it.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 15:41, 3 November 2017 (EDT)

I left them a message. In the future, though, it might be best to also explain to the other user why the edits should stay (even if they were removed without reason), to make sure it doesn't continue further. Lucina costume pose in Super Mario Maker Mario JC 06:49, 6 November 2017 (EST)

RE: SMO Prima guide[edit]

I have both a digital version and a physical version. Is there anything that you need? Hello, I'm Time Turner. 21:08, 8 November 2017 (EST)

Unfortunately, it's not a PDF. The Prima eGuides are only found on their website, and each guide is a series of webpages that are only accessible to the people who've paid for them. I haven't done rigorous testing for this, but there isn't a way of downloading the site's pages. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 21:22, 8 November 2017 (EST)
Yeah, but at that point it's piracy, and I'd rather not be involved in that. If there's anything that you want to check, I'm more than happy to do it on your behalf. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 21:36, 8 November 2017 (EST)
That guide isn't quite the same thing as the guide on Prima's site. It generally includes less information than the full thing. However, the description says that it does come with a coupon for the full guide (although it's $9.99, so IDK how much of a difference that makes. As for the access... Sorry, but I'm just not confortable with other people using my accounts, even for something as trivial as this. Seriously, I can check the guide and answer any of your questions. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 21:44, 8 November 2017 (EST)
Well, all of the images are hosted as separate URLs. I can provide a few examples that should work even off-site: Intro screenshot, 8-bit sprites, Cascade map, T-rex icon, Cascade patterns, and you get the idea. I don't think there's another way of obtaining images that are of better quality. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 21:57, 8 November 2017 (EST)

Sorry, but the admins ruled that we can't use maps from Prima. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 14:09, 29 November 2017 (EST)

Image reversions[edit]

It seems that you are reverting images to instances of unofficial transparency, which is against the image use policy. The images were originally uploaded from the Nintendo Germany site, with transparency added in later by Hugman (talk). Images should be used in their unmodified state, i.e. the original version in this case. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 13:43, 15 November 2017 (EST)

Yes but adding transparency to an image does not appear to be breaking the policy.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 13:47, 15 November 2017 (EST)

Bowser's Minions enemy stats?[edit]

Hi. Just wanted to wonder if you could bring up the stats for the Superstar Saga remake. I just want for there to be a section where players can know their statistics 'n' stuff just to make gameplay easier.

--Bio of me.ThatOneUniqueToad (talk) 05:5, 18 November 2017 (EDT)

... I'm sorry? I don't know what you're talking about. I haven't even played that game, and I'm certainly not working on a bestiary for it.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 06:35, 18 November 2017 (EST)
I'd be up for making one, though, but only if someone finds me in-game stats. Toadette icon CTTT.pngFont of Archivist Toadette's signature(T|C) 02:40, 22 November 2017 (EST)

Re: SMO Items and Objects[edit]

The table's based on the example from Super Mario 3D World, though since these kinds of tables aren't mobile-friendly, I've been working on adapting it to a more standard table here (although it's very much a work in progesss at the moment, especially until I'm able to resolve the inconsistencies between the images). Hello, I'm Time Turner. 17:15, 20 November 2017 (EST)

The SM64 table is unreadable on mobile, so that one's unusable. What about my WIP is so awful? Hello, I'm Time Turner. 17:20, 20 November 2017 (EST)
My primary concern is having a table that is usable for both desktop and mobile users. I'm all ears for other solutions, but I don't want to budge on accessibility. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 17:28, 20 November 2017 (EST)
If a user is looking for a specific item but doesn't know what it's called, they'd need to blindly click through links until they found what they were looking for (plus, a blank list is a slog to get through, which is why nearly everything has been tablified). However, I wouldn't oppose a simple gallery, something like what's on WarioWare: Twisted!. Do you think that would work? Hello, I'm Time Turner. 17:36, 20 November 2017 (EST)
Some of the images definitely stand to be replaced. Since I don't own the game, I did what I could, but feel free to swap out the images for anything better. It'd be especially good if all of the images were consistent with each other, similar to what Lakituthequick put forth. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 17:45, 20 November 2017 (EST)

Re: Chain Chomp[edit]

If a enemy has an representative profile art, then the image is preserved. If not, a secondary image maybe added.

As mentioned, The enemy has a existing profile art. If it didn't, then the "screenshot" would be added.

RE:Rules on Prima Guides[edit]

According to MarioWiki:Naming, Prima guide names are to be used if Nintendo or Nintendo Power do not have a name of their own we can use. However, due to this proposal, a better official name can be used instead, such as the development name as was the case of Hatopop, if it is agreed upon by the community. Alex95sig1.pngAlex95sig2.png 16:45, 21 November 2017 (EST)

I don't think so. It's mainly names of stuff that we use from the guides. Games and Nintendo Power are regarded as more official (since they relate to Nintendo itself), but there's nothing wrong with using anything Prima has. If Prima is the only source of a name, but it appears that it has made a clear typo or mistake, it's up to the community or other sources to determine the name if there is another available. Vorbis Audio and Theora Video[edit]

You uploaded a media file that had the OGG file extension. Earlier this year, a proposal passed to discourage the OGG extension in favor of OGA for audio files and OGV for video files. I changed the file extension (moved the file) to follow the proposal outcome. File contents doesn't change. I find the easiest method to change the file extension to be redlinking (linking to a non-existent page to then fill in the blank after linking, in this case, uploading the missing file), but there are two other ways. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 01:15, 22 November 2017 (EST)

Oh, for whatever reason, MediaWiki is saying the audio files are invalid and can't be decoded. What are you using to generate the files? --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 01:48, 22 November 2017 (EST)
I downloaded them as mp3 and converted to ogg, then when I upload I'm changing the extension to oga. The audio files are still playable on the site.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 01:50, 22 November 2017 (EST)
Just like JPEG to PNG, MP3 to OGG Vorbis is a lossy format converted to a different lossy format. I know that MP3 can't be uploaded because Porplemontage (talk) doesn't allow it and also licensing fees with the format, but are there the uncompressed alternatives, or are the MP3s the files that SMO uses? I digress. Anyways, what is the program used to have the OGG Vorbis output? If Audacity with appropriate encoder/decoder plugin, then I don't know what went wrong. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 01:54, 22 November 2017 (EST)
I used freac because I could convert them all at once. If you want to do the converting yourself, be my guest. I'll put the mp3s on my google drive and send you the link.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 01:57, 22 November 2017 (EST)
Audacity has a batch converter too. It's called a chain for whatever reason. In Audacity, go to File > Edit Chains. It's likely Audacity doesn't have an OGG converter so you need to create your own. Very easy. Add new chain and call it whatever you wish (OGG conversion for easy identification). Then insert command ExportOgg. Save changes if prompted. Now you can Apply chain. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 02:03, 22 November 2017 (EST)
Geez this'll take awhile, and I'll have to reapply all the tags and file names.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 02:07, 22 November 2017 (EST)
I'm gonna do all that tomorrow.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 02:09, 22 November 2017 (EST)
I take it you got Audacity working? I'm not entirely sure but to export in OGG, you need the FFmpeg plugin. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 02:22, 22 November 2017 (EST)
omg, can I just give you the files to do it instead?--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 02:24, 22 November 2017 (EST)
You could, or you can try to do this stuff on your own. It's pretty easy, despite the extra steps required of the free software. I have become very busy since the end of October and not as available as I used to be because now I have a job (which I have been looking for a long time and editing Super Mario Wiki has kept me occupied during my job searches). --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 02:27, 22 November 2017 (EST)
So I converted them using Audacity this time, and I uploaded the new version of Bonneton, but it's still giving that same problem; (Invalid Ogg file: Stream Undecodable). I don't know what that means or why it makes a difference when the files seem to play without issue on the site. Turns out the problem was I kept putting album art into the tags. --EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 15:32, 22 November 2017 (EST)
Metadata is not processed by MediaWiki, or by extension, most web browsers. Keep that data out of file uploads in general. It's not needed. Also, I was going to suggest purging the cache of each of the file pages or pressing F5 to refresh. --Wildgoosespeeder (talk) (Stats - Contribs) 05:43, 23 November 2017 (EST)

Crazy Cap[edit]

Considering how there are a few outfits that aren't obtained through the Crazy Caps shops, would it be better to create a separate page for them and just have the Crazy Cap page link to them? Hello, I'm Time Turner. 14:33, 24 November 2017 (EST)

I don't think so. Being that there are so few that you don't buy, I think it's best to group them in with Crazy Cap instead of separating them. besides, the information about obtaining those clothes is on the page already, so it shouldn't cause confusion.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 14:39, 24 November 2017 (EST)
Fair enough. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 14:39, 24 November 2017 (EST)

Empty sections[edit]

Per MarioWiki:Empty sections, no section should solely be a link or another page (i.e. not this). Hello, I'm Time Turner. 21:48, 30 November 2017 (EST)

Well I'm not the best writer, so would you be willing to put something there?--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 21:50, 30 November 2017 (EST)
Actually, the stuff that was there before was fine. It's the standard to have a simple table on the game's page while linking to a more-detailed table on a subpage, as seen on Superstar Saga, Partners in Time, Bowser's Inside Story, and Paper Jam (kinda). Hello, I'm Time Turner. 22:11, 30 November 2017 (EST)
just because it's done on those pages doesn't mean it should be. I would like to think my bestiary proposal from last year can extend to cover displaying those stats when it's not done through the bestiary.--EldritchdraaksSig1.pngEldritchdraaksSig2.png 22:18, 30 November 2017 (EST)
For the moment, I'd be more comfortable keeping the status quo, and I don't think that your previous proposal is enough to change it. Hello, I'm Time Turner. 22:20, 30 November 2017 (EST)

Youtube, huh? Maybe it's randomly-generated this time around? Anyways, unless you've played the game yourself, I have a hard time believing that, and am getting VERY annoyed by the cluster going on until solid proof comes along that that is the only possible name, I'd say leave it be.
