The 'Shroom:Issue XLVI
Music & Artwork
Hello 'Shroomers. SMB here. I need to thank everybody for making this team possible... Thanks to the initial Core Staff that approved of the idea, to the current and former leaders of this team, and to those who were good with sending in sections. I've enjoyed directing this team the two times I did, and it is an experience I will never forget. I am stepping up to Director of The 'Shroom, and as Paper Pikachu has been inactive for several months now... He will be removed from his position, and Fawfulfury65 will take over the team.
And that's about all I have to say. Once again, thanks to everybody.
Mario-Related Sketch (BabyLuigiOnFire (talk))
For my picture of 2011, I decided to feature the mascot of the new year...er, two mascots. And who's better at representing the New Year's baby for the Marioverse than Baby Mario and Baby Luigi? They appear to be snowboarding, with Baby Mario enjoying this. As for Baby Luigi? Not too much. Actually, I was a little too careful and messed up his right eye (eraser Tongue). Sorry if this picture looks a bit too bright, or eye-soring (whatever that means). I tried my best to make this picture as pretty as I want it to be. It's not so bright if you see it in paper.
A character makes a cameo appearance in this picture. Can you find him?
Did you know, that originally, that this was drawn for my own pleasure and I was not originally get sent to the 'Shroom? I was about to submit a picture about me, "vandalizing" homework, due to my finals coming up this month? Then I had this brilliant idea. Why not send it to the 'Shroom?
Screenshot of the Month (Fawfulfury65 (talk))
Welcome to this month's edition of Screenshot of the Month! For this month, I chose this image of Mario about to grab a blue coin in Super Mario Sunshine. It's in good quality, it's pretty big, and it gives you a good view of some parts of Ricco Harbor. It is also colorful and bright. That's all for this month's Screenshot of the Month! Tune in next month for another!
This month, it's this nostalgic 8-bit from Super Mario Bros. 3.
Who doesn't remember this game? The GBA remake was the second Mario game I got, and it was a good investment.
Well, I normally didn't make notes for FS, but I think it is worth it this time. Thanks for supporting me and letting me direct my favorite team for these past months. And congratulations to GF, the new Fun Stuff Director.
Welcome to the first Fake News of 2011! First, an announcement: SMB and I were unable to complete our sections this month.
As you probably know, Tucayo is retiring today. I would like to take this opportunity to thank him for all he has done for the Wiki community. For three years, he has been here writing for The 'Shroom and improving articles. The wiki would be nowhere near as successful as it now is had he not been here. He also was very patient with me while I was a troll and chose not to fire me. Thanks, Tucky!
And now...for something completely different. This is the final Fake News issue that I will direct. I have been offered a promotion by SMB to Statistics Manager. I will be in charge of feedback surveys, archives and many other projects that you will see in the near future. My successor certainly deserves to take over the Fake News. His Fake Games sections were arguably the best The 'Shroom has ever seen. Without further ado, I give you: Edofenrir! Beginning in February, you will be sending all of your sections, applications, etc. to him.
The Mushroom Kingdom is a very stressful place on a Sunday night. Toads everywhere have to prepare for a hard week of work, and hardly have any time to wind down and relax, and studies have shown that nachos are better that tortillas. How this is related I do not know, but Princess Daisy is sick of this
The Daisy Show stars Princess Daisy (well no, it stars a singing fish) and Birdo (let’s bring back that singing fish idea for a sec…), and the two interview celebrities. Plus, short, “funny” skits are shown, usually with Birdo making twenty popular culture jokes. The show has proven to relax Toads by scientists with nothing better to do with their time. Yoshis hate it, though. I’m pretty sure that’s because Birdo is in chains on the wall throughout the show.
The Daisy Show has received good ratings from critics. Luigi says “I can’t take my eyes off…uh…the potted plant in the background. It’s…nostalgic!” We were then pushed out of Luigi’s house, catching sight of a chamber dedicated to the chair Daisy sits in. I don’t blame him; that’s one amazing chair. As you can see, the logo was made by the very best…well, we don’t have the logo, so we’ve drawn something that vaguely resembles what it may be. It may be a singing fish, but probably not again.
The show is on every Sunday at 9PM, on “SHROOOMZ O_O”, not to be confused with the similarly named “SHROOOMZ O_o”. In the first episode, Daisy interviews Baby Luigi about what it feels like to be in the same time era as your future self, and Birdo offends previous Brittish Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
It’s on every Sunday. Yes, that means this Sunday. No, not last Sunday. Or Saturday.
STOP ASKING QUESTIONS AND LOOK DOWN.

........................................................................... ........................................................................... ........................................................................... I'M HERE! Sorry for the late response their, I was held up by the b.....nevermind about the section above me....let's get goin...
Now time to begin 2011 with another exciting issue of the interview! As far as I can remember, I'm BMB, but I might be Ralph, so heads up if it's not me. Well......I think my last issue had caused more problems than it should have...and a user that still is bothering me to pay him for the copywrited words....but I think we can still make it
BMB: Yeah...abbrivated letters for me now...but that's beyond the point. What's your name?
BMB: I knew the moment I pointed at you, but you know there are some people that don't. So how are you here without Mario?
Peach: Well......right now I'm "kidnapped" by Bowser. He's probably at World 6 or something on to Bowser's Castle, which is actually only a short walk away.
BMB: You mean to tell me that you lie to him about this stuff!?!?!
Peach: Plumbers aren't that smart. It'll probably be another 10 years before he even gets the hint that I just stroll into Bowser's clutches at the last second before he arrives. Quite fun actually.
Peach: Silly, I'm not the only one, talk to Zelda, we go shoe shopping when she is stuck in a sleep for many years. That was the best time to do that.
BMB: Oh wow, you are such a big tease! Don't you ever fill guilty?
Peach: Oh heavens no. Haven't you ever talked to Mario in person? His breath smells like the bottom of my shoes and his doesn't shave at all. Not only that, but who wants to be with an obese plumber that has no job besides save you?
BMB: But everyone knows him! I'm sure those are lies.
Peach: Oh believe me, that is his camera-ready face after hours of the medical people doing his looks. It's nasty...
BMB: But don't you feel bad for making him travel through all those castles?
Peach: That first time with the eight castles and those toads flicking him off were priceless. It was fun to watch.
BMB: But don't you----wait, what did you say?
Peach: The part of the eight castles or me watching every one of them?
BMB: You watched him talking to all the toads as they tell him "the princess is in another castle?"
Peach: It was awesome. I was in the first at the time when I saw that. He didn't even recongize me behind that statue. It was awesome watching him get mad at that.
BMB: But you made him go through that 7 times!
Peach: Was it really only that much? Geez, I should have done it mor--wait! Trust me, he came early every time, so I made something up and sent him on another quest.
BMB: Whoa...but....but how could you do that? That's awful! And let me guess, you like Bowser?
BMB: That's terrible!
Peach: Bowser at least allows me to be in his cool castle, and he comes over all the time. It's really started to affect me in a bad way with all this lying I'm doing to Mario.
BMB: You know they call that an ego, right?
Peach: And...? I'm a princess, what else am I suppose to do, nothing?
BMB: That's not the point, you straight out lied to Mario every time, and then you go snoggle Bowser and end up with Bowser Jr---wait, what about...about his other 7?
Peach: That was painful, but you know, after Ludwig, they all just stopped aching so much...
BMB: But....but....how did you keep this from Mario?
Peach: Simple, you tell him "ARE YOU CALLING ME FAT!?!"
Ralphfan: BMB, you need to wrap this up soon.
BMB: This is epic, don't interrupt while we are getting fired up still! And hey, I am BMB, okay, that answered one of my questions...
BMB: Well, Ralph is Ralph, just toss a hockey stick across the room, and he'll fetch it.
Ralph: . . . I'm still right here, you know?
BMB: Oh, don't worry, I do. So, Peach anything else before Ralph calls security on me for insulting him?
Ralph: You've got 5 more comments before I cut you off.
BMB: Alright, this, and two more, so Peach, really, ANYTHING you want to say?
Peach: Oh, Mario, just in case your watching this, "Kmae Rimoa Ogfrte!"
BMB: What the...?
Peach: Trust me, he won't remember a thing that I've said with those words.
BMB: Good idea. And now time to really wrap this thing up. I'm BMB, and this is Ralph, along with Princess, and we'll see you next month. Well, at least me.......goodnight!
I thought about many things today. I started out thinking about making a good start for the new year, however, this became false.
Hola everyone, it's DyegoHalliwell with the first Fake Characters of 2011. For this issue I decided to include both someone from Mario's side and someone from Bowser's side. I hope y'all enjoy this issue, and I wish you had a good New years celebration.
Radial Yoshi / Radial Milton Pooper
A brand new Yoshi, feared by everyone because of his radioactivity and his strong-smelling poop, Radial Yoshi, also known as Radial Milton Pooper, is a new species created by the mixture of poop and Mr. Burns' blood. His powers include, Radial Beam, a beam that can destroy a Goomba within 9 hours, Poopkinesis, the ability to throw Poop balls from his butt I mean his mind. It was rumored that he has a wife, Ms. Lady Poopemaria, and a daughter named Pooposhi. Also, a final warning, don't get too close to him or he will burn you with liquid radioactivity, and if you see him in the space, run for your life or he will create the greatest Poop/Radial hurricane!
He is the inverted, perverted, psychic, son of a B... blinded, cousin of Fawful. He pretended to turn his cousin good, and because of that, he was cursed to have to body of Alyssa Milano, which is currently being turned to stone. Many people acussed him of being a criminal, and rageful, Flawfull turned them into stone, and then smashed their stone bodies. After that, the Toad policy transferred him to a far far away town, in which he is currently used as a stone toilet. Every blue moon in that town, which is every single hour of all the week, he kills imaginary people, who turn out to be Shroom Thieves, but they ironically just exist in the mind of his poop brain.
One day, a Shy Guy found a bottle of hair tonic. Since he was a Shy Guy, he had no idea what hair was, so he decided to use it as a shampoo substitute. The next day, he woke up completely covered in bright, colorful hair
Fuzzy Guy originally worked for Bowser, but, after he got all his “fur”, he became a weakling, so Bowser kicked him out of the Koopa Troop and put 2 points on his super‐villain license. He then was blown to Princess Peach’s Castle by a sudden gust of wind, and attached himself to a bald man’s head. He knocked on the door and began to ask her for her credit card numbers. Mario witnessed this, and became very jealous that there was no attention directed towards him, so he barged in and challenged Fuzzy Guy to a battle.
Mario punched him, and his fist went straight through. Mario won. Fuzzy Guy died.
Okay, go away.
OR SO THEY THOUGHT.
Five years later, he was found in the Castle’s sewers, desperately looking for the bathroom. After pointing out that they were in the sewer, and the whole area counts as a bathroom, a Toad punched him too for no apparent reason. He then floated up like a balloon and appeared in New York. And so, Fuzzy Guy died again, not succeeding in his only lifetime goal of going to the toilet.
OR SO THEY TH*shot*
He got up again and found himself stranded on an island with walking palm trees. He finally decided his life was so messed up that he should eat at Mushroom Burger. He has not returned, probably due to being unable to find the door. Thanks for reading, and tell me if you see him. He owes me a penny.
Hello amazing readers, this is your favorite Koopa, Tucayo, with the last issue ever of Ask Tucayo. I want to thank you all for all the questions I got, for the big support, and for reading the section. I wish I had created this section earlier, but I didn’t. I won’t receive questions anymore, since this is the last issue. So now, let’s get to the questions, which is a record number!! Oh and to make clear, there is a question by myself because, well, I asked that seriously to me while I was playing SMG2.
How is Wario born and why is he alive?
Hello Koopayoshi. Wario is born from a snake egg hatched by a hen. Wait, I am thinking of basilisks… Wario’s birth is the center of all the universe, Wario’s life is the reason the sun shines. But some people think different of Wario’s birth… Let’s see this quote by an anonymous user.:
That’s sad, but some people think that way of Wario… Oh, and he is alive because otherwise we would have Baby Waluigi filling his place in sports game. And “Baby Waluigi Land”? That doesn’t even sound correct.
GF!! Of course I’ll miss you all, including you Smiley I consider you one of my best friends on the site, so naturally I am gonna miss you. But we’ll still see each other… (this doesn’t mean I’ll spare you the money you owe me Angry)
Hi Tucky, as you are retiring, I have decided to ask you:
Do you ever plan on returning to the Wiki, or the forums, or anything like that?
Hi MCD! Well, not in a near future, no. I may check in chat occasionally, or check the forums for the awards, or the wiki each month for The ‘Shroom (as a guest), but I don’t plan on unretiring. My retirement is definitive.
What is your opinion at Bowser Jr?
Hello Flubber. Well, I also have a quote to answer to this, but I will answer it myself instead. I like Bowser Jr. People may differ, but I like him more than some Koopalings. Actually, he is like my 3rd favorite Bowser son, behind Larry and Lemmy. Perhaps tied with Roy… And he appears in more games, so I am more used to seeing him than I am to seeing the rest of the guys.
Why did your third patroller term only 2 minutes?
Hi Quizmo! Hehe, good question, good question indeed. Some of you who browse Userpedia, or stalk me at the MW may have noticed I had a third patroller term which lasted around 2 minutes. Now, why is this? There had been some issues with patrollers not being able to mark edits as patrolled (ironic, isn’t it? Patrollers not being able to patrol…), so I was demoted to Patroller by Stooby during a wiki downtime, in which basically just Stooby and I had access to the wiki (I think Edo had access too), so I could check if the problem had been solved. It had, so I was repromoted to Sysop again.
Hi Tucky. What sort of video games do you like best? Console games or handheld games.
Each one of them has their advantages and disadvantages… I normally prefer Console games, but you can’t take your Wii everywhere you go. I also like handhelds, but I play more console games. Whenever I am in my house with my Wii and my DSi, I play the Wii.
I have here a running chainsaw with your name on the saw blade, I am currently waiting in front of the exit of this building, and nine of ten people would describe my mental condition as dangerously unstable. Are you sure that, in the light of these new circumstances, you really want to go through with your retiring plans?
Ummm... if it has my name on it, is it a gift? Ooooh I love gifts!!! But sadly gifts won't prevent me from retiring. Unstable? Well, not many people gift chainsaws, but well.
In which SMG/SMG2 galaxy would you like to live?
Hello extremely handsome and sexy person I don’t know. I like green places, with clouds, water, mountains and all that. So after playing all the galaxies in SMG, and the first two worlds of SMG2, I decided I would like to live in Fluffy Bluff Galaxy. Just look at it! It has all the things I love. Well, I would need a place to sleep at… Perhaps the Cloud Tower, I can build a palace inside it. I can swim anytime I want, go to the mountains, or to that playroom-like place. It just is the perfect galaxy.
Hello everyone. SMB here. I just want to thank everybody who put a lot of hard work into the Pipe Plaza for the thirteen months I've been a director of the team (which is also how long the team has existed). I've been elected as the Director of The 'Shroom, so the team will be left in the hands of Marioguy1, who has done a fantastic job co-directing with me for the past year.
So yes... Once again, thanks to everybody who made this section possible; whether your contribution was supporting the team's creation, writing sections, coming up with new ideas... you all made it possible for this team to be successful. I'm sure MG1 will also continue his great leadership over this section, and I wish him luck. Thank you everybody.
Ohai guyz! It’s MG1 here for the co-director’s notes! Rather, for the director’s notes as I am now the sole director of this team! And congratulations to SMB, I’m sure he will make an excellent ‘shroom director! I will be remaining in the position of Pipe Plaza director for all you fans of the section <3
Anyways, congrats SMB, we still need more writers, oh yes, also, SMB put together this issue of the Pipe Plaza so I’ll thank him for that. Now, goodbye everyone and read on!
Tip of the Month: When fixing small errors like grammar or spelling in an article, make all your small edits and then save it as a minor edit. This will help clear up the server and recent changes page.
Would you look at this? MG1 is back for featured! This month was lots of fun!
In the Featured Articles department,
And the featured article nominations that failed,
And finally, the best news so far, the unfeature article nominations that failed!
Anyways, this was written very quickly, sorry, I am under a lot of deadlines right now, and see you next month for Featured!
Ralphfan might have his section in soon. If not, look forward to it next month.
Mario Calendar (User:WigglerWhoopin'Warrior135)
What's up, readers! This is WigglerWhoopin'Warrior135 here with the January Mario Calendar.
That's about it! Late Happy New Year, and see you guys next month!
Upcoming Games (Paper Yoshi (talk))
Hello 'Shroom readers! After being absent from the previous seven issues, the Upcoming Games section is back! In this issue, we'll take a general look at the next Mario game, Mario Sports Mix.
Mario Sports Mix, as the name says, is a sports spin-off game. It features four sports: basketball, volleyball, hockey and dodgeball. The game is heavily influenced by Mario Hoops 3-on-3, as both were developed by Square Enix.Slime, from the Dragon Quest series. Players can also choose their customized Miis. Both hockey and dodgeball have supporting characters. Shy Guys appear as the goalies on hockey, while colored Yoshis (red or blue, depending on the team) stay at the back of the court in dodgeball.
All of the sports feature common gameplay from the Mario spin-offs: items can be obtained by touching ? Panels, and each character has his/her unique special ability, which can prove very useful during the matches.
Release dates for Mario Sports Mix:
And that's all for now, folks! We'll dig deeper into each sport in the next issue. See you then!
Good day fellow MarioWikians, I'm RAP (talk), and this is NIWA News - where you can get the news between the last Shroom issue, and this Shroom issue. It's January folks, and not a lot of activity is going on mainly due to the holiday break; a time where people are taking their advantage of breaks from school, visiting their family relatives, and playing piles of video games...and I mean a lot! Despite that, a decent amount of activity has been made. Not much, but decent enough to report the latest news:
Somewhat slow yes? Thank you for reading fellow MarioWikian or guest.
Hello, and welcome to my Should Have Been section again. I received no PMs, so I guess that means I covered everything. :3
Still, if you disagree with me or think that I have missed anything, PM me on the forums and tell me!
Today, I’ll be covering Yoshi’s Island DS.
What Should Have Been in This Game?
I believe that the prequel, Super Mario World 2: Yoshi’s Island, was far superior to Yoshi’s Island DS. While this is not really a bad game, I believe it lacked in places where the prequel didn’t.
Firstly, I’d like to complain about the music. Most of it is just repeating the same song with different instruments, and it is never as good as the prequel. The themes for when you complete a level and lose a life are terribly generic. It lacks the charm and the humor of the prequel. The title theme is disappointing beyond belief. In my opinion, they should have kept the old soundtrack, or at least based the new one on it.
Another point – most of the levels look the same. There’s hardly any innovations, and the loss of items means that you can’t change the gameplay or make it easier. There’s always some kind of level that has the same music, objects, items, enemies etc. I believe levels should be different, and have different objects and enemies. Many features were removed from the prequel, and I believe this should not have happened. Features such as items, watermelons, Poochy and the games where Yoshi plays against a Bandit were all fantastic additions, and were all removed in this game.
Also, parts where the screen starts scrolling can be hard. For example, Up the Creek caused me many problems in going “up the creek”. All of the enemies on the vines and the screen quickly scrolling upwards, plus the fairly slippery controls, made this part much harder than anything should be. Some sections of the game even can seem impossible. At first, I thought my game was glitched up when the way I was supposed to go was blocked.
I think Nintendo should have toned down the difficulty. In the Clouds is another one that drove me insane. If you slip up once, you die, and you have to time your jumps correctly on “M” Blocks, small clouds and fast‐moving clouds. Another problem I find is that a few of the babies’ special abilities are a little bit faulty. For example, Baby Peach’s ability, her parasol, sometimes won’t work, and the same goes for Baby Wario’s magnet. I believe this should have been fixed.
Again, I come back to the problem with the slippery controls. Sometimes, I find myself falling off platforms after I stop moving. Sometimes, I have to jump twice in order to stop falling off, especially at In the Clouds. It goes without saying that this should have been fixed. To be honest, the game overall just feels depressing. The prequel is fun, attractive, classic and colorful – this just feels like something’s missing. It feels much more serious and like the fun has been sucked out.
As for things that should have appeared more, I think all of Yoshi’s transformations should have appeared more. They hardly ever appear and are probably one of the least broken things in the game. The Yoshi Car and Yoshi Train didn’t even appear, and should have. Plus, the Yoshi Submarine can no longer fire missiles, making it worse. Otherwise, not much else should have appeared more. It feels like Nintendo used everything else too much.
Enemies Who Should Have Appeared
Starting off, the game was originally going to have Nintendo Wi‐Fi Connection support. This means that you would be able to connect to the internet for something. It is unknown what the Wi‐Fi mode was for. A file in the ROM called “objeditor.arcz.” suggests that there may have been a level editor in the game at one point. The game was also originally called “Yoshi’s Island 2”.
The boss Big Guy the Stilted was originally a real Shy Guy, and not robotic like in the final game. However, one patch can be seen on his foot, and the sprites were probably incomplete. There were originally two different title screens, and one was scrapped even after it was completed. It was seen at the E3 Demo that enemies could only be defeated by jumping on them when Yoshi was carrying Baby Mario.
Black Yoshi and Baby Peach can be seen traversing a flowery area in a screenshot, which is not seen in the final game. Graphics for Baby Wario and Baby Bowser Baby Coins exist, but were not used in the final game. The level Donuts and Eggs wasn’t originally set in the wild west.
Well, that’s all. Thank you for reading my section. Don’t forget to send me your suggestions, if you have any. See you next month!
What’s up, Brawlers? This month I will be doing the stage Lylat Cruise!
Lylat Cruise is a ship from Star Fox. If you’ve ever looked at it from the side angle in Brawl, you know that it’s HUGE. So I don’t get why there’s such a small space to fight on.
Anyways, any battle on this stage takes place as the ship is flying through space. If you’re playing as Fox, Falco, or Wolf, you can get a conversation started with a taunt, like Solid Snake’s. Wolf is the easiest to do this with, in my opinion, with Falco right behind him. You have to wait for them to finish the whole taunt, so teaming up with another player is a good idea if you want to get it started. Your partner will have your back and you can finish it.
This stage is a bad one for items like Pokeballs and Assist Trophies, because they bounce after landing, and on this stage, the ship tilts around as it’s flying, so most items will fall right off. If you can grab something, throw Pokeballs in the middle of the stage to give the Pokemon enough room to move around, and if you can, keep the Assist Trophies away from the edge.
It’s easy to knock your opponents off, since the stage is so small, but Final Smashes are a different proposition. Characters like Luigi and King Dedede don’t have to aim, so try to keep them as close to the side as possible. Characters that have to aim, like Link or Zelda, have to combat the motion of the ship so they don’t miss. Try to get your opponent in the center and then hit them. Characters like Marth that have to move with their Final Smash should stay away from the edges. Go from one end of the ship to the other so Marth has enough room to stop if he misses. Not surprisingly, the StarFox characters have the advantage here, because with so little room on the stage, it makes it easy for them to overwhelm their opponent with their Landmaster. Just make sure you don’t drive it too far off the side. It’s a short way down.
That’s all for this month, Brawlers! Hope this inspires you to take a trip on the Lylat Cruise!
Hello guys, this is your friend Coincollector, here for the tip of the month and
This course is one of the most basic, with very few gimmicks and rough terrain areas that cause you to lose speed. Even the corners are smooth, wide, safe and have a lot of dash panels to give a speed boost if you are too lazy to press the button to accelerate.
But this Luigi Circuit is not notable for having these features. The most remarkable thing in this circuit is that it has the only two‐way road found in the Mario Kart series. It seems weird to me that only the first racecourse has this and even more that you can’t make a lap if you haven’t run all along the course. Also, with this feature, you’ll always have your opponents near and ready to use any potentially dangerous item to create chaos in this section of the course. If you are playing this circuit in 50cc, this feature is not present and the course is divided by a median with banners, making the race safer and less mobbed.
At the beginning of the course you have to pass the speed ramp in front of the starting line to enter the two‐way road that is a long and slightly curved stretch and then enter to a corner with many dash panels next to it. You can take the dash panels, but if you want to save time, you can drift on the inner side of the curve. Right after to this we’ll find the second speed ramp that we have to pass to enter the two‐way road again. Just as we did before we will enter another, tighter curve with dash panels as well that leads to the checkered line, and so we complete the lap.
There is only one obstacle in this Luigi Circuit and is the big Chain Chomp guarding a small piece of rough terrain. It is not a real threat for the drivers, although it can recklessly ram the vehicles that invade a small part of the road.
This circuit has a shortcut right before the first corner of the track. The shortcut is a detour that begins in the middle of the two‐way road and runs behind a sandy zone away from the main route and ends to the row of dash panels of the curve. Just take care with the Chain Chomp that is alert to any driver that comes into its territory; if you aren’t quick you could receive a nasty surprise from this fanged dude when crossing the shortcut.
The course also has a narrow branch at the beginning of the second corner. This isn’t really a shortcut but a way to get an item aside from the Item Box group found in the main route. Both the shortcut and this optional way are not present when playing in 50cc.
I have some other funny facts about this Luigi Circuit. If you look in the background, you will notice that there is a restored version of Luigi’s Mansion. In the sky there is floating a blimp with the words “Luigi Circuit” on it. The course also has a yellow building with a garage next to the starting line but I don’t know really what that is…
Well, that’s about it for the tip of the month. Remember to look both ways before crossing the road or else you’ll be going the wrong way in this circuit.
Breaking News! We have a longer and clearer demo video of the upcoming Mario Kart for the 3DS. You can see the off‐screen video here during this year’s Nintendo World conference in Japan. All that I can say is that is quite similar to Mario Kart Wii in terms of graphics, and the two new courses look good. What I would infer from this demo is that it looks like the gameplay is similar to Mario Kart Wii to some extent ‒ Big jumps, Bouncing ’shrooms… tricks’ comeback, anybody?

GF75: I like it very much. I don't see why people bash it all the time. I could care less if the Kremlings were in it to be honest.
NSM: Thoughts on Paper Mario 3DS?
GF75: I'm very excited for it. I hope to see unique partners. Maybe a Gearmo.
NSM: Thoughts on Mario Kart 3DS?
GF75: I'm not to hyped up about it.
NSM: Thoughts on Mario Sports Mix?
GF75: I don't really care about it to be honest.
NSM: What would be your favorite Mario game?
GF75: I would say.... Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario 64
NSM: What would be you worst Mario game?
GF75: Hotel Mario or Mario is Missing
That is the end of our interview with Gamefreak. This is New Super Mario saying “Happy New Year”!
Hello, fellow wiki members. This is Super Mario Bros. (talk), the newly‐elected Director of The ’Shroom. I am pleased to announce that I had an overwhelming amount of support in the election; this makes me feel extremely motivated. I know that I have the backing of the users… I will do my best in this coming year to fulfill the duties given to me. I am writing this Address to the users to review my plans for this year and to personally thank everybody who gave me this opportunity to bring The ’Shroom to a whole new level.
I believe that one of my first acts as Director is to officially announce my Core Staff.
All of the users that I have selected for these positions are wonderful users and hard workers. I am glad to announce all of them as the new official Core Staff. There is no doubt at all that all of them will serve us well and that they will be of great assistance in bringing The ’Shroom to a great level of success and quality. That said, I think one of the first projects that we will work on is getting the Section of the Month awards set up again. It is a great idea, but without structure and organization, it will just end up failing like it did the first time the Core Staff tried implementing it. So keep an eye out for more news on our progress in this.
While we are working on this, I will start looking into possible affiliations that can be made. After all, networking is a very big step that The ’Shroom can take in order to increase its writers and viewers. I will be sure to carefully discuss each possible affiliate with the Core Staff before any deals are made; I do not want to rush into anything before it is determined that we will benefit from the affiliations we make.
You can also see monthly polls posted up in The ’Shroom board on the forum, asking how well you think we did in a particular issue and why you feel that way. You can also post other ’Shroom‐related topics in there and post in the other topics that already exist. You can be assured that all posts and polls will be monitored by me (I am a Forum Administrator), as well as 2257 and Ralphfan, who hold Local Moderator powers in the board as well.
As for the rest of my plans? Those will come up in the following months. The Awards Committee usually forms around March, April or May; plans for what Awards the Core Staff would like included will start being made sometime in the near–distant future. The issue in May 2011 will be Issue L (the fiftieth issue), so that is something that I would like to host several special events for. The first ’Shroom Feedback Survey that will be made during my term will come at around this time as well, so be sure to catch up on all of the issues you have missed and to stay consistent in reading the paper!
Once again, I will say that I am ecstatic to have been elected to the position of Director. I feel that the plans that are being set into motion will help make this a year of quality, success, and of great improvement. I feel that this will be an extremely productive year. I feel that this could very well be the best year for our dear paper, The ’Shroom.
I urge everybody to make sure that time is set aside to read the next issue, which will be released on Saturday, February 19th, 2011. As always, warnings will be sent out to our writers to make sure that they send in their sections on time. I am sure that we can make the next issue a spectacular kicking‐off for a new era in 'Shroom history!
Well, another year for The 'Shroom has come and gone. A lot of things have changed this year, but not as much as I wanted. Since this is my last issue as Director (and probably as a writer for The 'Shroom as a whole), I just have a few things to say.
Firstly, I'd like to thank the entire 'Shroom staff (Tucayo, SMB, 2257, Ralphfan, and Marioguy1) for the amazing work they've done this year. I was absent a lot this year, and without them, The 'Shroom would have probably died. You all have done great and deserve a pat on the back. (Honestly, you deserve more than that, but I'm too cheap to hand out anything else.) Most of all, though, I'd really like to thank Tucayo and SMB. You two have done so much for The 'Shroom, I don't even know where to start thanking you.
Secondly, I'd like to apologize for not being as good of a Director as I should have been...as I promised to be. I had a lot of plans set last year, but I hardly carried any of them out. I know SMB will do a fantastic job as Director this year, though. I have a lot of faith in him, and you should too. To that end, I'd like to congratulate SMB on his winning the election. Best of luck to you, bud.
Lastly, I'd like to encourage you to keep reading and writing for The 'Shroom. This paper still has a lot of potential; please try to do whatever you can to make it as good as it can be.
I guess that's it. I don't really know what else to say. Maybe I should give you some friendly advice...
Hello readers, I am for the last time your extremely grateful Sub‐Director Tucayo, and welcome to my last Sub‐Director Notes!
I’ll change this from what you normally expect to see here, to a goodbye message.
Two years and 7 months of working for The ’Shroom are coming to an end. 32 issues of writing 2+ sections per issue, including 25 issues of being in the Leading Staff. During this time I wrote over 10 different sections, going from Fake News, to Fun Stuff. From Pipe Plaza to Art & Music. And of course, the main sections. It was a pleasure and an honor for me to serve The ’Shroom during all this time, as writer, as Director, as Sub‐Director and as Fun Stuff Director. The ’Shroom is what I love most on the MW, what made me join, and what kept me here until now.
And I can say I did what I wanted to do; to return The ’Shroom to the glory it had lost. But of course, I didn’t do this on my own, and there are people I want to thank. Blitz (Glowsquid), for letting me be part of The ’Shroom. Stooby, for trusting me with the power he gave me. To the amazing staff I worked with, because without them, nothing would have been possible, Stooby, 02, Xpike, Ralphfan, Super Mario Bros., YellowYoshi127, Yoshario, 2257, Marioguy1 and P Trainer. To the writers, for all the effort you put into each issue, you make The ’Shroom what it is. And to the readers, who supported us all this time, reading us every month, participating in our activities and never losing faith. Thanks.
Now, you know I love surprising you. Well, I’ll do the same one more time. This is a decision I made in the last week. I love The ’Shroom too much to leave it, so despite the fact that I am retiring, I will continue to write the Mystery Images section of the Fun Stuff, since I just can’t take my name off the list, and it is a section that doesn’t require much time. Oh yes, you’ll still see me every issue.
To end this, I want to congratulate SMB on becoming the new Director. I see you as a brother (even if I am a koopa and you aren’t…) so I know The ’Shroom is in good hands, and that you will do everything to improve The ’Shroom Smiley Congratulations and good luck too to your Core Staff. If you ever need advice, please just ask me.
Without more, I say goodbye to all of you. BYE! Thanks for everything, and keep reading The ’Shroom.
