Oumu[1] is the second to last Debeso to be born, who appears in chapters 3 and 4 of Super Mario World! Yoshi no Tamago of the Super Mario Kodansha manga. He hides his true nature by covering his outward belly button with a cross band-aid.
Born one thousand years before the events of the manga, he was the previous Devil Yoshi before shedding into a Debeso. One millennium later, discovering that Bowser intends to use his soon-to-be born brother, he appears to Mario and his friends to aid them in their journey to stop the Koopa King and save Mother Yoshi. At first, the group finds him annoying, especially when he gives a kiss on the cheek to Peach and seemingly directs them to the wrong island. When the heroes are kidnapped by the Pirate Koopalings, Wendy claims that she will not throw them to the sharks, if Mario reciprocates her feelings. Mario refuses, so Oumu knocks him out with a mallet he summoned with a magic wand, and maneuvers him like a puppet to satisfy Wendy. When the pirate ship crashes onto a rock, Oumu bonks his head onto a mast and gets knocked out for the rest of the chapter, while Mario regains consciousness and the Koopalings all fall overboard.
In the last chapter, Oumu first save the heroes from drowning by summoning with his wand his eggshell after Bowser destroys the Pirate Ship they stole, then suggest into piling the enemies onto the eggshell to create a ladder to the top of the Devil Yoshi no Tō. After that, Oumu remains in telepathic contact with Yoshi (who previously drifted away) and when he feels him drowning, first uses the star on top of his wand and then summon the other eggshell of his to sandwich the enemy pile and the star together and resurrecting Yoshi in Star Yoshi form, right as Bowser manages to hatch the Devil Yoshi. After Star Yoshi destroys the Devil Yoshi, from its skin the Debeso emerges, and Oumu hugs his young brother, revealing the truth to everyone: Devil Yoshi is a legend that changed through the years into a catastrophic apparition, while in reality it is the first stage of the birth of magical Yoshis known as Debeso. With that, the heroes return to Dinosaur Land, leaving Bowser stranded at sea.
